Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on February 11, 2025February 11, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ADDICTIVE DREAM made an impression at her WA debut, just like fellow Grant & Alana Williams imports Too Soon and Essentric Nature at their first outings in the State. Going to follow up with the filly and suggest she can make it back to back wins. OVERDRIVE won a 2-year-old 0MWLY first-up last preparation in the Stewards’ room and her recent trial (without blinkers) was strong. PRIZED RECRUIT is double accepted Wednesday and Thursday. EIGHTY MILE BEACH was gifted the race last start. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – ADDICTIVE DREAM WIN RACE 2 GALACTIC EMPIRE finally makes it to the races after a string of highly encouraging trials. The only time he has been beaten in his four trial appearances was at the hands of sharp filly Gi Gi Pops and since then he’s won each and every time. Looks to have serious ability. Huge day for Grant & Alana Williams on paper Wednesday. MAGNIFICENT MIA a big improver in shades. HELL’S CITI deserves to break through and win one after a string of honest performances. FAYOLA BABY next best. Numbers: 7 – 9 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – GALACTIC EMPIRE WIN RACE 3 FINAL CALL made his debut over 1300m and Donna Riordan steps him straight out to a mile second-up. Barrier 1 makes things interesting – generally speaking leader’s back waiting for the cutaway in a 1600m maiden is often painful viewing so maybe they try and kick him out to lead so that they’re in charge of their own fate? MISTRESS OF WAR should have finished closer to Twilight Tale at Pinjarra last start. Getting close. HOLDOUT and LONG WAIT are through the same race as Final Call and were only 2L behind him. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – FINAL CALL WIN RACE 4 ALOT OF ROSES bolted in her maiden down the 1000m straight at Pinjarra and then was solid in defeat behind Rocking Gem who has since finished third on a Saturday behind Miss Flirtatious and Lexington City. Fair bit of speed drawn underneath here so she may have to burn the candle at both ends. That’s the risk. TAWKIN’ JIBERISH drops back into a C1 for the first time in the preparation. THE TOP BAR finds this lengths easier than a 3 year old Plate. TWIGGER gave cheek last start. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – ALOT OF ROSES WIN RACE 5 SHOW THE WAY was his own worst enemy last start when racing erratically through the middle stages when the pace came off. Fingers crossed that they’ll roll along at a more genuine tempo here and that will allow him to settle and show his best. Knocking on the door. TERRITORY MAN starts his WATC Derby preparation here and he can 100% win fresh. TOURETTO was a tough watch last start. Had no where to go but plenty to offer. THERMOSPHERE LAD jumped last start and as soon as he led it was game over. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – SHOW THE WAY WIN RACE 6 CAVALLO RED will need conditions to suit. Provided they’re making ground three deep with cover then it brings him right into the mix because his first-up run was super matching motors with Lonsdaleite for the majority of the home straight after parking wide throughout and most recently in a C3 he was a better run than Comic Hero who won on Saturday. Right race for him. FUNCHAL was arrogant in her debut victory and the horses who ran second, third and fourth are all now subsequent winners. TACTICS is a different horse in front. NORTH FACE next best. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – CAVALLO RED WIN RACE 7 TERRATIF is yet another Grant & Alana Williams – CJP on topper at the program. She’s a more than handy mare on her day and the form around Deferred / Silver Eye from her only run last campaign in a 3 year old 0MWLY really stacks up for a C3. Always had time for her. RELIABLE QUEEN went to a new level in the care of Meryl Hayley last preparation and was a first-up, 1200m winner. WITH DISCRETION is still raw and green but has undeniable talent. EN PLEIN AIR has a turn of foot when saved up. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet – TERRATIF WIN RACE 8 TWILIGHT TALE was doing her best work late on debut at 1500m and looks a WA Oaks filly in the making. She’s regally bred, she’s got gears to work through and she’s got a barrier and map to settle midfield with cover and make her run into the bend. Plenty of upside and a big preparation ahead of her. CJP could have ridden half the card by this stage. BARRA MUNDY is a jump and run type who gives 100%. He’ll be there for a long way. WIN TO RETIRE is getting close to another win. ROCK DEE JAY probably doesn’t get a run but deserves a mention. Numbers: 10 – 2 – 7 – 13 Suggested Bet – TWILIGHT TALE WIN RACE 9 INFURIATED and ROMMEL’S GODDESS met on the 8th of January over 1400m and there was 1.3L between them on the line. There’s a 1kg weight swing in favour of INFURIATED and watching the replay, with a more clear run at her in the home straight that margin isn’t much at all. His biggest issue is barrier 1 and the cutaway. 9 times out of 10 it’s either a fast lane or a slow lane. Wait and see. ROMMEL’S GODDESS has a big advantage if they’re swooping down the middle. BELLE JOURNEE continues to race well. STRIKING FELLA just lacks a killer blow. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – INFURIATED WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,3,6 2,5,6,7,8,9 2,10 5,6 Market Market
