Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on September 12, 2024September 12, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 PERFECT CHANT has set the track alight at Lark Hill. She looks to have a beautiful high cruising speed and finds a race where she can cross and lead on debut. Her main dangers are drawn awkwardly and look likely to drag back which gives her big a tactical advantage in the run and makes her hard to run down. ALL GRUNT could not have been more impressive on debut. He sat wide from a long way out and simply monstered them. He pulled away to win by nearly 5L late and was only increasing the margin. He’ll be winning plenty of races. TRUE APOSTLE was only nabbed late first-up. BLUE ROCKET maps to get a soft stalking run. Numbers: 9 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – PERFECT CHANT WIN RACE 2 PIN DEEP has returned bigger and better as a 4 year old this preparation and they have found the key to his racing – pure speed. He won down the 1000m straight in a time 5.5L faster than C1 average, he won over 1100m in a C3 in a time 4L faster than average. Heads to his first Saturday of the campaign and is drawn to lead and roll. Leaders proving extremely hard to catch over 1000 at Belmont. PADDYS FLYIN’ was narrowly gunned down in a 66+ last start. Should be ready now. REAL DELUXE bolted in her maiden with only 52kg on her back. This is tougher and she’s unlikely to cross Pin Deep. FINAL AUTHORITY next best. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – PIN DEEP WIN RACE 3 HE’S GOLD did it very tough last week sitting three deep the trip without cover. Thought he actually stuck on okay until half way up the straight and 7 days later he finds a race without a leader. Proven on the back-up, dropping 1.5kg and maps to advantage. In an open race he’s worth a spec. PATRON OF KINGS looks ready to win. His trial was super and his first-up and second-up runs have been excellent. Regular rider Jarrad Noske back on and looks like he wants 1400. Hard to hold out. BONNY ROCK has improved into the prep and now has a senior. MAJOR MARIO is a highly consistent type. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – HE’S GOLD EACHWAY RACE 4 KEEP ATTACKING was crunched in betting last week and punters never got a sighter at any stage in the home straight. He was climbing over the back of them looking for a run that never eventuated. Grant & Alana Williams send him round again and we’ll forgive, forget and follow up. BONDI PLUNGE won an identical version of this race first-up (0MWLY 1200). She carries only half a kilo more and the Danny Morton show continues to roll on. Logical danger. MULTIVERSE hasn’t seen a 60+ for 6 years (no joke). The old boy is going well. DIVINE PAIR gets a soft stalking run. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – KEEP ATTACKING WIN RACE 5 FILTHY HABITS has a few interesting gear changes – blinkers on (first time), ear muffs on (first time) and winkers off (worn them at 28 of his 29 starts). This race lacks speed so he’ll likely roll to the top in his customary role and control and dictate terms to them (again). Hard to fault the way he’s going and he can turn it into a true staying test from the 800. STOP DREAMING was eye-catching last start and with an ounce of luck in the home straight can burst through late. HEMLOCK STONE, ADVANCED and FINE TOUCH are all capable types but none of them have ever raced over the 2100. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – FILTHY HABITS WIN RACE 6 KRAKEN TIME has always looked like a Saturday horse in the making and last start off a 5 week freshen he showed what he’s capable of when letting loose with a big turn of foot down the centre to score by an extending 1.5L margin. Drops weight, maps well, is versatile and finds an open and even 60+ Graduation. One of the big players. MISS SKYHIGH trialled super and then struck a Heavy19. Forget she even went to the races. STARATING was stiff first-up. Didn’t get a crack at them until the race was over. TRIO is starting to put it all together. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – KRAKEN TIME WIN RACE 7 SILVER EYE continues to work his way through the grades impressively. He hasn’t run a bad race all preparation and since he’s managed to dodge the likes of Joker’s Grin and Deferred who he was running into early in the campaign he’s been able to dominate races in his own right. Lead and rolled last start – overall time 4L faster than average, and is just as good with a sit. Love the way he’s going. ANGEL UNDERCOVER was a sharp improver back on top of the ground last start. DEAMBER continues to draw awkwardly but is racing very well. WATCH ME ROCK is a talented type but looks every chance of being three deep? Numbers: 1 – 7 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – SILVER EYE WIN RACE 8 MAN CRUSH looks to get his opportunity dropping back into an 84+ ratings race and is also the big beneficiary of hitting a race without Puli. He has done all the donkey work so far this preparation and now gets his chance to kick through, lead against the fence (which he loves) and run them into the ground. Last two runs he has finished between and around Boots Like Bruce and Saloon Bar – that’s the best form in the race. FRIGID brings real X-Factor returning to WA and resuming first-up no trial. Her last 11 have been 1400+ but she’s a sharp mare. POMPEY trialled super, maps well and rates well. RED FIFTY THREE next. Numbers: 2 – 11 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – MAN CRUSH WIN Same Race Multi – Man Crush (Top 3) + Frigid (Top 3) Man Crush is a different horse when he can find the fence and lead in his races and he gets that exact scenario on Saturday. Easiest race he has contested this preparation and most suitable map yet. Hard to run down. Frigid returns to WA first-up, no trial and is a sharp mare at her best. Both to run Top 3. RACE 9 CAPTAIN PLUTO was beaten by the race profile last start. The first 1000m was run in 1:06:14 (16L slower than average) and from where he settled he’s done a remarkable job to get within a nose of the winner. Drops 1.5kg and has returned in career best form, however, tis race also lacks tempo so he’ll become risk vs reward if he gets plunged again. WESTRIVER MIRACLE looks the only speed on paper and the last time he was left alone in front he lead for 1599m before Sensessional got him on the post. Legitimate danger. BUCKETS RIDGE was a great return. UNCOMPROMISED brings alternate form through Kalgoorlie/Esperance but is a winner. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 11 Suggested Bet – CAPTAIN PLUTO WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,3,4,5,6,7,11 1,7 2,11 2,6 Market Market
