Scott Embry’s Friday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on August 17, 2023August 17, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MYSTERY BULLET has had two runs back at Belmont Park and now heads to Kalgoorlie. Think the form behind Miss Ava, Don’t Trust Judas will hold up nicely (even in the metro area) and he heads up to Kalgoorlie and has the services of a travelling Chris Parnham. Should go well. MOONLIGHT RIVER is getting closer and closer to a win. Knocking on the door with placings at her last three and most recently was solid behind Got Lucky. RUBICK DELIGHT finds this lengths easier than a metro maiden. Interesting to note that the Pearce’s have swapped Poy across to Rubick Delight. ELUSIVE DREAM travels well but doesn’t seem to really let rip when asked for an effort. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – MYSTERY BULLET WIN RACE 2 SET FOR STARDOM was excellent at his first start for Peter Fernie. If he takes any natural improvement from the outing then he should be going close from the ideal draw. Doesn’t look to be any stars in this and he should get the perfect run throughout for Paddy Carbery. FLYING THE FLAG was well thought of in a couple of Kal maidens earlier in the season. In pre-post betting on Sunday and Monday he was heavily commissioned. BLITZEM BABE was also popular in early betting before the abandoned meetings. HIGH PRESSURE showed ability at trials on a couple of occasions. Keep safe. Numbers: 1 – 11 – 13 – 2 Suggested Bet – SET FOR STARDOM WIN RACE 3 LAUGHING BUDDHA has really come of age over the last month or so. When he broke his maiden he got the job done beating Got Lucky (long, long time maiden) and then since they’ve stepped him up in class and in distance he’s gone to another level. Beat up on My Boy Eddy in a C2 and then went to a 51+ and dominated them again. See no reason why he won’t continue on his merry way. BAILEYS is going along better than it reads. Looking for this trip and has had excuses recently. STRATOCREED has been slowly but surely coming down in the ratings for seasons and is about ready to win again. GIN ‘N’ SWANIC finds a suitable assignment. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – LAUGHING BUDDHA WIN RACE 4 VINYL is a mare who has enjoyed a wonderful preparation for a very much in form Rickie Brown stable. Take away her two runs in May and her preparation has been nearly faultless. She attacks this 8 weeks between runs so you have to take the yard on trust but she’s working her way through the grades impressively. MY BOY EDDY has Patrick Carbery going back on and he knows this horse inside out. No surprise to see him bounce off a ‘disappointing’ second when beaten at the shorts last start. NO WHISPERING won well at his first run back in Kal. GERARDJOSEPH next best. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – VINYL WIN RACE 5 KICK A GOAL SON probably hasn’t quite been at the same level which saw him run a narrow second to Galaxy Affair in a 70+ 1400 four starts ago. Is drawn out in barrier 10 but with ZJP taking 3kg off his back they may elect to put the foot down early and look for a position over the speed. Honest eachway campaigner. CELEBRITY WITNESS is no stranger to the KBRC and joins Dave Smith. KAKADU gets Chris Parnham on board and has been knocking on the door recently. MIGNORA has had excuses since arriving in Kal. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – KICK A GOAL SON EACHWAY RACE 6 CHANG MAN was back to his best last start. He trialled super on 23 July when getting past Solarize late and then backed it up with a strong victory over Send ‘Em (who I still can’t believe didn’t win in the photo?). Has been hurt with the redrawn barriers (1 out to 10) but he’ll stay out of trouble and go round eachway again. FLOPPY was backed as if unbeatable at Belmont Park last start ($9 into $3.60) and after surprisingly finding himself in front he never looked like being run down. Don’t think he beat much and clearly appreciated the Heavy8 conditions but he’s rock hard fit. REBEL MAN comes to the Goldfields and his fresh run behind Bread To Flirt and Becalotti was sound. I AM KING next best. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – CHANG MAN EACHWAY RACE 7 ONEMOREFORLEO has certainly turned a corner. He’s drawn to get every chance from a favourable draw and this really is a good use of the ZJP 3kg claim. He’s racing with great consistency at the minute and has beaten home many rivals in his recent starts. MAIDMY WAY has been in great form for Rickie Brown all season and finds another winnable race. SEND ‘EM gets a soft run along the fence, just may want 1400. BOONDI ROCKS gets his first chance all preparation to cross and find the fence. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – ONEMOREFORLEO WIN RACE 8 GALAXY AFFAIR was able to sit three deep the trip last start and hold out the late challenge of stable-mate Bird’s The Word. They square off again in the 2023 Kambalda Cup and see no reason why GALAXY AFFAIR can’t hold out BIRD’S THE WORD again. Taj Dyson picks up the ride and takes 1.5kg off the back of GALAXY AFFAIR and he’s drawn to get a lovely run tucked away in behind the speed. BIRD’S THE WORD has barrier 10 of 11 which won’t make his task of turning the tables easy, however, Chris Parnham coming to Kalgoorlie looks like it’s to try and win a Kambalda Cup. TIME SCALE should be about ready to lead and roll. MARKET STRYKE can come on quickly. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – GALAXY AFFAIR WIN RACE 9 DANCE OF THUNDER was impressive at his WA Debut. He was first-up no trial over 1200m, got right back and attacked the line hard in a 58+. Second-up he drops back in grade into a C2, draws to get a gun run under CJP and considering he’s been competitive out to 1700m you’d think there’s plenty of room for improvement. Capable of winning a few for the new connections. SAFE SECRET has been a model of consistency all preparation for Jordan Rolfe. Expecting him to try and kick through to hold the top. RED CADILLAC has changed races from the Sunday/Monday abandoned meetings to the Friday. Worth keeping a close eye on. MINOR DETAIL can finish top 4 Friday. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet – DANCE OF THUNDER WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,3,5,7 1,2,4,5,6 1,3,5 1,2,3,4,11 Market Market
