These maiden handicaps are about as weak as they get and he can roll straight to the top and control the race. From there he should take running down. MANITOBA has blinkers attached and comes back in trip from 2000 to 1500. Don’t think he really gets a strong 2000 so coming back in trip a positive. Logical danger. CAPE PRIDE scratched from Wednesday for this more suitable race Thursday. I CAN SEE CLARA was a better run than it looks on paper last week. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – MAKIN PROPHETS WIN RACE 2 EPIC SHOW met with really good support at odds at his return to racing off the back of a quiet trial. Was beaten 3.5L but think that Amelia’s Trust, Star Power, Loopys Baby have a fair few lengths on what he meets here. TIN CHOOKS trialled well alongside Alaskalot back in October and then struck a fast run race at Ascot on debut. First-up, no trial, Noske on, keep safe. COMMANDING OFFICER is now deep into his preparation and is suited to these maiden handicap races. Drops half a kilo on last start after running third. SHEZGOTTHALOT was scratched Wednesday to save for this. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – EPIC SHOW WIN RACE 3 LINE OF DUTY ran second in her recent trial behind Patron of Kings. She kept coming to the line and the last time that Todd Harvey dragged Jason Brown out to the Avon midweek it was for Stormy Tawny. Last 750 days Todd Harvey has produced 12 first starters for 4 winners at 33% Strike Rate and 50% POT. Brings them ready to win. BALAYAGE BABE is hard to line-up. She has trialled well on two occasions, once down the back straight at Lark Hill and recently over the 950m. Yet to fire a shot at the races. Respect on trials. TRIGGER FINGER is quick. Lead them over 1200m at Belmont when finishing less than a length off Solid Gold and French Chill. Jump and run type who should be suited to York. WEAPONIZE was a forgive and forget fresh. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – LINE OF DUTY WIN RACE 4 ABBOU is going along alright for Mack Hall. Third behind Dawn Amnesty and Anna’s Boy at Kalgoorlie in a C2 is arguably a stronger race than what he meets here and last start was a month between runs heading into a C3 at Northam. Weak race in which he gets his chance. ADELANTE hasn’t been seen for a month after being scratched on 27 April. Didn’t beat much in her maiden but at least it was this track/distance. Horses for courses type of track. JUAN WON ONE won a 4 horse maiden and then finished fifth in a C1 behind Bambun Boy, Money For Old Rope and Riding Hood Fame. Not horrible form. FIRE ANT was set a task last week when stepping from 1000m to 2000m. They split the difference here in distance and go with a senior rider. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – ABBOU WIN RACE 5 RED CADILLAC was a massive win first-up at Narrogin. Almost put through the fence half way up the straight but got out and won well gunning them down over 1190m. Then went to Geraldton on Cup Day and ran into Classic Encounter in a C2 run 5L faster than average. Likely to get back but has the turn of foot to work her way into this in the home straight. IM NOT FOR SALE has to carry 63kg but he is winner this track/distance/grade with 61kg and beat Golden Bonney and Jolly Lace in the process. Track specialists are hard to beat at York. GOLDEN BONNEY got a well deserved win last start. JOLLY LACE gets some weight relief. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – RED CADILLAC WIN RACE 6 THE CHIEF JUSTICE was a debut winner at York back in November 2022. Coming into this preparation he trialled well when second to stablemate Vitalize and then second to undefeated filly Rear Admiral. Couldn’t find the top at this return and was 5L off Climb On Top, Sisu Warrior and He’sgotwings. Back to York and kicks through to lead. BIG CITIES is closing in on another win. Knocking on the door the last two. SAFE SECRET trialled well ahead of his WA debut. Keep safe. DEMERITISE is an honest little mare who picked one up at Dongara on Easter Saturday. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – THE CHIEF JUSTICE WIN RACE 7 REQUISTION has raced almost exclusively in Westspeed Platinum company over the last few seasons. This is much easier than being beaten 2L by Valency, Leica Jaguar, My Baby Blue Jean & Ultimate Command. From the draw he can hold a spot in running and this looks one of the weaker races he has seen in a while. IZZY MAY is always there abouts this track/distance/grade. She’ll get back but Stevie Parnham rides her extremely well. YANGTZE RAPIDS has been kept to the sprint trips recently and it seems to be paying dividends for Tiarnna Robertson. BITOVEMU won well last start. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – REQUISITION WIN RACE 8 SMOKING BARREL is looking for three straight wins. His last two have both been by over 1L and both been in 52+ grade over the 1900. He actually drops back into a 46+ here and after the claim for Austin Galati he looks well placed to score a hattrick. Hard to hold out late. STRAWBERRY MIST wasn’t her same self last start. Pulled up with genuine excuses and with Troy Turner going on she’s worth forgiving. TIME STANDS STILL won well last start and can go on with it. ARAFISIO is still a maiden filly. Loved her last start effort. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – SMOKING BARREL WIN RACE 9 PRANCING IN MILAN won a 46+ 1300 down the outside two starts ago and then dropped back to what looked an unsuitable 1190m when finishing fourth behind Master Buddha. All things considered thought she held her own and now getting back up in trip she strikes another winnable race. PACIFIC BOXER won well last start and from the inside draw can stalk the speed. 62.5kg an ask. ANYOLDTIME is first-up no trial and did win a Belmont maiden impressively back in September. CONTESSA MEDICI is racing well. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 6 – 11 Suggested Bet – PRANCING IN MILAN WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 3,4,6 1,2,4 1,3,6 1,4,6,11 Market Market
