Scott Embry’s Wednesday Northam Preview Posted on October 4, 2022October 4, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ANNIHILATOR has been excellent at his last three. Fast finishing third in this grade three starts ago behind Let’s Galahvant (72+ and Hannans winner) as well as Wine Night (enormous Saturday at Kal), beat Vogue’s Choice two starts ago and then finished on the heels of Strike Now. Concedes Strike Now weight but retains the services of a senior rider and is versatile. No speed in this, could even roll to the breeze. STRIKE NOW is well weighted after the claim but thought CJP gave him every chance last start from a perfect barrier and perfect run into the race. Tricky draw to navigate for Luke Campbell. KEEPER SWEET can box seat and has a sharp turn of foot. GEORGE GENTLY took a big step from a maiden win into an eye catching 60+ Graduation fifth. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – ANNIHILATOR EACHWAY RACE 2 TIFF’S LAD should be too classy for rivals here. Was incredibly well backed at his return to racing without a trial and matched motors with Recalled (subsequent winner) up the entire length of the home straight. Did lead them up in a 3 year old 62+ behind Zephyra and The Velvet Queen so doesn’t need to get too far off them. Just needs luck at some stage from the inside gate. DO IT RIGHT finished second to Surveillance (C3 winner on Sunday) and then was solid behind Queen Alina, Jack In The Black and Fly Away Home (Saturday 3yo winner). Going well. JACK IN THE BLACK was excellent last start and might find himself in front. MR FAHRENHEIT is a career maiden. Does have a level of ability. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – TIFF’S LAD WIN RACE 3 ALL MAN is particularly well placed by Steph Bakranich into this extremely moderate 52+ ratings race. Six starts ago he dropped back into a 50+, carried 59kg and was too good for them and since has raced in 4x Graduations and 1x 66+. Did it tough last start behind Devonia – a race that has produced subsequent plunge winner Axel ‘R’ Eight and should get all the favours from the gate. SPECIAL PICTURE is a well noted wet tracker, so if there’s more rain around than anticipated she could be a big improver. FRIAR THE GUN has shades on (first time) and has been going well for the new yard. JAFETICA looks just about ready. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – ALL MAN WIN RACE 4 RUPERT’S EMPIRE looks awfully hard to beat in this 1100m all-age maiden. Was crunched in betting on debut in a 3 year old 0MWLY that has produced subsequent winners Just Go (Saturday 3 year old Plate), Aiyza (C1), Red Hot Goods and Major Max. Given a freshen up, drawn to get a gun run from barrier 1 and even drops 1.5kg off that effort coming back into maiden company. Will be extremely popular. ALLEGRO SONATA will be any old odds. If (big if) she backs up from Sunday at Northam she’s not impossible. Run had merit and that will be a hot form race. AROOCHACHA and SAMARIA both look like sharp on speed types. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – RUPERT’S EMPIRE WIN RACE 5 AMJAAD is another returning Simon A Miller runner who will attract her fair share of supporters. On debut she had no luck when tracking up strongly in behind heels unable to get out at any stage. Only finished 2.5L off winners Paddy’s Lad and Diamond Command and was immediately tipped out. As quiet a trial as you’ll see and while many publications say ‘Blinkers Off’ she didn’t wear blinkers on debut anyway? IDENTIFIER was a great trial most recently. Had nowhere to go but looked to be bolting. NUNES has always shown a level of ability. Drawn a gate to get a soft run and has a short, sharp turn of foot. THE DESERT FOX was a strong return to racing and should only improve. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – AMJAAD WIN Same Race Multi – Amjaad (Top 2) + Identifier (Top 3) RACE 6 BIGDAYONIT has been stiff to run into some quality C1 types recently. Finished second to Legacy Of Tara and third behind Recalled and Tiff’s Lad at his last two starts and while he might run into another above average type in Visions Of Grace he’ll find the front and give another big sight. VISIONS OF GRACE looked good at trials and won well enough in a maiden handicap at Belmont to suggest she’ll measure up. Hard to beat. DADIRRA finally draws a half decent gate and is clearly racing well. CANNY CONI has a senior on and maps well. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – BIGDAYONIT WIN RACE 7 KEYTRADE is not a 1000m horse but his recent trial under Alan Kennedy (who was riding 60kg+ in the NW) was a ripper. Really hit top gear and was charging late behind Jedi Mind and from the gate he can hold a spot midfield with cover. Winnable race for him at odds. MICHELADA is really well placed into this C3 and provided she sees clear air she’ll take beating. NO DICE returned to racing when only 2.2L sixth in a 60+ Graduation behind Go Forward, Ghost Who Walks, Street Parade and co. NIGHTS MYSTERY is jump and run. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – KEYTRADE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3 1,5,6,9 1,6 1,2,4,5 Market Market
