Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on February 24, 2022February 27, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 STAR POWER was well found in betting on debut off the back of a strong trial over 850m. Pulled up with excuses and was immediately tipped out for a spell. In her recent trial she sat three deep and worked around them under a hold and loomed up alongside Magnaburma before fading on her run late. Should take great improvement from the trial and is drawn a gate to get a lovely run. Looks an eachway hope at her return. MAGNABURMA comes from a powerful first-up and debut stable. Won both of his lead up trials and will no doubt be up in the firing line throughout. Hard to beat on debut. LOOPY’S BABY found the fence in her recent trial and showed a sharp turn of acceleration to skip right away from them. Barrier hurts. REJUVA KING attacked the line really well on debut. Numbers: 9 – 6 – 14 – 1 Suggested Bet – STAR POWER EACHWAY RACE 2 PINK CARATS has been a revelation since Pat Carbery went on this preparation. Clearly a tough horse to ride and the faster they go the better he goes. With Some Sort, Olga Louisa and Kramden likely to jostle for positions early he can park just behind them and enjoy the run of the race. Improving and emerging sprinter. SOME SORT is likely to be a polarising galloper with the 5 year old looking to break through after a winless streak that now spans over 500 days. Second start for Team Gangemi, back to 1000m a huge plus and drawn to find the fence. If he leads, he’s hard to run down. MATERIAL WITNESS is a gun down the 1000m straight. Can he reel them in round the bend? REIGN OF FIRE comes back to the sprint trip and has been competitive all campaign. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – PINK CARATS WIN RACE 3 SECRET DEPLOY really captured the imagination at his return to racing. Looked an awkward race for him on paper with the 1200m appearing to be too short and the main dangers likely to settle a fair way in front of him. Didn’t stop the punters who absolutely launched him in a spirited betting move from $5.50 into $2.90. Got back to almost last and charged through the line. Steps to 1400, gets 2kg on Cristal Dane and looks an exciting 3 year old on the rise. Whatever he opens he’ll be extremely popular. CRISTAL DANE is a new horse under Dion Luciani. Impossible to fault her form and no doubt Holly Watson will look to run and stun again. DAZZLING DANE looks like she will measure up. Love the way she let down last start. COBBANCO comes out of slowly run, small field midweek assignments but has the winning instinct. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 12 – 3 Suggested Bet – SECRET DEPLOY WIN RACE 4 TRIX OF THE TRADE had nothing go right for him in the Challenge Stakes and the way the race unfolded it looked like he was going to be a good thing beat. Somehow managed to pick himself up and sprint over Hear Me Sing in the shadows of the post to extend his imposing strike rate to six wins from seven outings. He is super talented and the fact he was able to pick up and sprint with no momentum last start shows just how good he is. HE’S A LUCKY LAD and HENCHARD bring alternate form lines into this. From what we’ve seen to date Trix Of The Trade has all the Challenge opposition covered so logically the dangers are the new additions. HEAR ME SING can again roll to the top and control. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – TRIX OF THE TRADE WIN RACE 5 ALLEZ ALLEZ looks just about ready to run a big race and looks to be screaming out for 1800m. Ran his race in patches two starts ago in a sit and sprint behind Sentimental Queen and then got a long way off them and hit the line well in a 66+ behind Tena Koutou, Crescent City and Fashion Queen. Drops back to a 60+, gets out to 1800m and strikes a very evenly graded bunch. Double figures is attractive. TRI FOR US really got going in the last 100m at Albany and was running away from them on the line. Versatile mare who can race on speed or off-speed. SHE’S A SWEET DEEL maps a treat and looks like she has the sharpest turn of foot in the race. Great combination. STREET FAIR was a surprise winner two starts ago but thought his run last weekend behind Downforce showed it was no fluke. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – ALLEZ ALLEZ EACHWAY RACE 6 FINE ROMANCE comes through the WA Breeders Classic behind Trix Of The Trade (beating home Hear Me Sing) and the Challenge Stakes when finishing fourth behind Trix Of The Trade, Hear Me Sing and Let’sdeal. In a year where the boys look better than the girls and when there is no standout filly so far (not a single horse in this field has accumulated a penalty yet at SWP) so looks the ‘class’ runner of the race and best suited by the conditions. UNI QUEEN had no luck at all in the Challenge. Forgive and forget. RELIABLE CHOICE was an alarming drifter first-up and ran accordingly. Has a turn of foot but is she looking for this distance? FOREVER DREAMING has been racing well this campaign. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – FINE ROMANCE WIN RACE 7 COMES A TIME has amazing form for a 72+ at Ascot. Finished second behind This’ll Testya first-up. She’s now won a Listed Cyril Flower. Finished second behind Clairvoyance in a 72+ at Pinjarra. She’s now won a Pinjarra Classic breaking the track record and attraction nationwide attention for the speed figures she produced. COMES A TIME has a barrier to work with, the shades go back on and there’s no This’ll Testyas or Clairvoyances in this field. Hard to beat. QUEEN OF SOUL has real X-Factor about her and gives the indication she’ll measure up in this grade. LIPSTICK FLICKERS ran them into the ground in the Pearl Classic. Has to sit outside of Kenyluck here. KENYLUCK is a marvel and attempt to do it from start to finish. Go you beautiful grey battler. Numbers: 6 – 11 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – COMES A TIME WIN RACE 8 BRUCE ALMIGHTY is the kind of horse who will rarely miss the money once he finds form. He found form when finishing second to God Has Chosen back in early December and since has won a 72+ and placed on the other three occasions. When he finds a race where he maps to lead and control from a soft barrier he puts himself right into the mix and he always goes round an eachway quote. FASHION QUEEN and GINGER BAKER both carry no weight, map well from ideal draws and should have #Bruce within their sights and within striking distance. Legitimate dangers. DOM TO SHOOT seems to run for Lucky Ramoly and coming from stronger form races than this. Numbers: 5 – 12 – 13 – 2 Suggested Bet – BRUCE ALMIGHTY WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,5,7,8 1,2,4,5,7,8,10 6,11 2,5,10,12,13 Market Market
