Scott Embry’s Friday Esperance Preview Posted on February 3, 2022February 3, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BALLADEER is looking to turn the tables on Alcina here and gets a 2.5kg weight swing to do so. Was the market mover last start and the Neil Dellar money is usually very astute. From gate 1 with a cutaway in play he gets his chance to topple the glamor mare. ALCINA has been a revelation since joining Joshua Francis Brown-Forder (JBF; it’s like CJP just less winners). She is 11 starts into the campaign and has already won three races and placed on another five occasions. Handicapper is catching up with her now. REBEL YELL is well placed into this race having finished second to Alcina and then sixth in the Fitzpatrick Plate. I’M ICEY an improver with shades back on. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – BALLADEER WIN RACE 2 BOONDI ROCKS looks to have finally found his race. Lead them up first up at Kalgoorlie when narrowly defeated, lead them up first-up at Esperance when narrowly defeated. Surely today is the day for him. Drawn the inside gate, kicks through to lead and main dangers are drawn out extremely wide. Now or never for Boondi. TALKABOUTYOU is fresh for Helen Harding and has shown glimpses of ability (mainly at trials). Does have speed. VALEZNA just can’t draw a gate or have a race run to suit. She’s flying and ready to win. DEE RODMAN next best dropping weight after Luke Campbell’s claim. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – BOONDI ROCKS WIN RACE 3 THEHUNTSMEN is a long, long time maiden but this looks a lot easier than what he would have ever seen in the metro/provincial area. Finished third behind His Eminence and Private Scene last start and prior to that was in a race that included Noble Scot and subsequent maiden winners Roch Legacy, Midnight Mystery (also a C1 winner) and Petite La Femme. This looks his race on paper. PRANCING IN MILAN is progressing nicely for Alistair Chegwidden and looks like she’ll get out over further and further. Logical danger. LUCIE MANETTE and ILZAAM have now been going round in maidens for too long for consideration. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – THEHUNTSMEN WIN RACE 4 FLYING ARABIAN is probably Luke Campbell’s best look in yet at a winner. Perfect 4kg claimers horse as he is just jump and run. The 1200m is the testing part of this race for him because there doesn’t look to be anything that can go with him in the middle stages. Provided he doesn’t over-do it in the middle stage he should prove too quick for them. Last start C2 winner staying in the same grade and dropping 3kg. SHADOW SHIFTER looks the biggest threat off his back with the cutaway in play. Gary Burger and Lisa Staples are the hottest combination in WA racing. Pushed Westernize last start. SAINT CLEMENTS should come on second-up. PREMIUM CHOICE hasn’t been seen since winning well at Esperance a year ago. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – FLYING ARABIAN WIN RACE 5 WHEATSTACK THEIF was good to us last start and see no reason why he won’t be again here. Was simply screaming out for a mile and he loomed large at the top of the straight to hold out subsequent winner The Cat Ratcher. Only goes up 0.5kg staying in the same grade as the last start victory and from the gate Simone Altieri should have him in in an identical position in running. All previous efforts to the win were eye catching. Going super. COCKY ED doesn’t win out of turn but this looks a suitable race for him if he can get any sort of run from the horror gate. RUSTY SPIRIT comes back in trip. Can forgive the last start effort. That was a really testing 2000m race. JUST STRIKING is going quite well but will need luck from the wide gate. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – WHEATSTACK THEIF WIN RACE 6 GALAHS DO ROAR was first-up for 89 days and finished only 2L off Warzachantz and the Pelican’s Ladies Bracelet winner Eurogem in a 58+. Drops in grade back into a C2, is better suited stepping out to a mile and should only have improved fitness wise. From the gate Lucky Ramoly can have her sitting forward of midfield and from there she looks a bet. BIG FISH broke his maiden well and Jett Stanley should be able to nearly roll to the breeze outside Kenny The King. KENNY THE KING is going well himself and they should control the race from the front. BALDERDASH was afforded the world perfect run last start and scored in style. The barrier makes things interesting. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – GALAHS DO ROAR WIN RACE 7 ROYAL SOLDIER gets some well-deserved weight relief coming up in grade from C5 and 58+ racing. Has had five starts this preparation and carried 59.5, 60, 61.5, 60 and 59. Now drops down to the minimum on 54kg and comes back from a testing 2000m race (first 1600 = 15L faster than average) on a firm2 track to drop into a mile race. Like him as a horse and like him in this race. NOBLE REFLECTION like many horses didn’t handle the firm2 conditions last start. Thought he ran well but is again a query stepping out even further in trip. MRS BROWNS BOY should be almost ready and drawn the cutaway helps his chances. STRATOCREED was a pass mark first-up. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – ROYAL SOLIDIER WIN RACE 8 WARZACHANTZ, Lisa Staples and Gary Burger has been the story of the Esperance season to date. Lisa Staples / Gary Burger combination: 14 rides, 8 winners, 57% strike rate, 97% POT. Warzachantz four starts in Esperance, four wins. They just keep winning and like the last time he went around we just have to keep tipping him until he gives us a reason not too. Maps a treat and is flying. ANOTHER DEMON is well placed into this race as a last start winner in a higher grade. Only rises 2.5kg with the Luke Campbell claim. SAUVEGARDE won well at the most recent meeting and Tash Faithfull gets first option for Helen Harding. COLD AS COLD a blow out chance. Numbers: 5 – 11 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – WARZACHANTZ WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,8 1,2,3,4,8,9 1,5,8 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,11 Market Market
