Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on January 7, 2021January 7, 2021 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 LAWRENCE (9) hasn’t finished further back than 2nd in his five WA runs. He faced the breeze when a strong Pinjarra winner on Monday and is capable of overcoming his wide draw. ANTERO (12) was never going to be in the finish the way the race was run last week but his previous form was excellent and he looks the main danger. POCKET THE CASH (7), is racing consistently and should be thereabouts again. BETTOR FINISH (6) looked a chance to cause a boilover last week and looks to be on the improve. Tips: 9 12 7 6 Suggested Bet: LAWRENCE (9) to win. Race 2 JACK WILLIAM (1) has a losing sequence of 14 and has finished near the rear at his last two starts but looks a big improver from the pole. He should lead here and roll along and give them something to catch. MR KIWI (10) made ground along the pegs when 4th here at his last start and will be charging home if he sees daylight at the right time. FORGOTTEN HIGHWAY (4) hasn’t lived up to expectations since arriving in WA but is now with Ross Olivieri and could be a big improver. KILOWATT KID (8) is racing well but the draw hurts. Tips: 1 10 4 8 Suggested Bet: JACK WILLIAM (1) to win. Race 3 THE LAST DROP (1) led throughout from this barrier five starts back and hasn’t had any luck at his last few starts. He should lead tonight and is clearly the one to beat. BLACK JACK ZAC (2) didn’t get clear until too late when a close-up 5th here last week and is ready to win a race of this nature. BAYLAN JETT (10) had his chance when finding the top and finishing 3rd here last week but is drawn to get a lovely run in transit and looks a great each-way chance. POWER AND GRACE (9) is the best horse in the field but has a horror draw. Tips: 1 2 10 9 Suggested Bet: BAYLAN JETT (10) each way. Race 4 WHOZIDEAWASTHIS (2) has finished near the rear at his last four starts but is drawn to get a nice run and can be a big improver. SIMBA BROMAC (3) didn’t race at his top last campaign but has the ability to give this a big shake if anywhere near his best first-up. TALKTOMEURMATTJESTY (1) would lead and win this at his best but he was beaten a long way at his first run back from a spell. OUR JIMMY JOHNSTONE (4) has finished just behind the placegetters in stronger fields recently and can play a part. Tips: 2 3 1 4 Suggested Bet: WHOZIDEAWASTHIS (2) to win. Race 5 BLETCHLEY PARK (2) has run nice placings at his last two starts and looks a good chance to lead and give them something to chase over the sprint trip tonight. BALCATHERINE (3) is absolutely flying and is ready to make her presence felt in this company. GALACTIC STAR (6) led throughout to defeat a similar field here last week but isn’t as well drawn tonight. VULTAN TIN (7) was a gallant 2nd in that event but isn’t suited by the shorter journey here. Tips: 2 3 6 7 Suggested Bet: BLETCHLEY PARK (2) to win. Race 6 CARRERA MACH (9) has been unplaced in his three starts back from a spell but his last effort had plenty of merit and he is capable of overcoming the wide draw in this company. MARQUISARD (4) recorded consecutive victories in November and looks suited back in class tonight. BEACH SKIPPER (3) is a different horse in front and looks a good chance to find the top tonight. WALSH (5) will appreciate a significant drop in class and must be considered. Tips: 9 4 3 5 Suggested Bet: CARRERA MACH (9) to win. Race 7 SOMEBEACHPARTY (7) hasn’t finished further back than 2nd in her eleven starts this time in. She overcame an awkward draw to win here last week and is clearly the mare to beat. TIFFANY ROSE (6) has used her dazzling gate speed to lead throughout at her last two starts and will give them something to catch if she crosses at the start. QUEEN SHANDOAH (5) ran a nice 2nd to Balcatherine at her last start and will be running on. VIVERE DAMORE (8) is flying but the wide draw makes it tough. Tips: 7 6 5 8 Suggested Bet: SOMEBEACHPARTY (7) to win. Race 8 VALBONNE (1) ran on well from the rear to defeat an easier field at Northam on Tuesday. He goes up in class here but that is offset by the pole draw and he should give a great sight. THE KRAKEN (8) led throughout to defeat a stronger field here last week and is capable of overcoming his wide draw. SHADOW ROLL (6) is back racing in his best form and looks a major player again. MACHS GOLD (5) ran a nice 2nd here last week and looks to be improving with each run since returning from a spell. Tips: 1 8 6 5 Suggested Bet: VALBONNE (1) to win. Race 9 ROCK ME OVER (1) led and finished 3rd here three starts back. This looks an easier assignment and he should prove hard to beat tonight. SANGUE REALE (3) sat on the leader and lost ground in the sprint home but still finished 2nd to American Brave at his last start. He isn’t racing anywhere near his best but has too much ability to overlook. ONE FOR DAVEANDME (5) needs some luck in this class but is racing well enough to figure. MISTER ARDEE (6) was a good last start winner and is suited by the small field. Tips: 1 3 5 6 Suggested Bet: ROCK ME OVER (1) to win. Market Market
