Scott Embry’s Saturday Geraldton Preview Posted on January 7, 2021January 7, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 KING CRUISER gets his chance in the weakest maiden he is likely to see. Has done all of his racing in the metro and provincial area and normally when Justine Erkelens travels a team to the MidWest she leaves with a winner or two. Kristy Bennett is on a high confidence wise and she still has a 1.5kg country claim. Should get the job done from leader’s back. KALAKAUA looks the obvious danger and is every chance of rolling to the top for Michelle Hagley who can turn it into a sit and sprint. NEW PRINCESS is finishing off well enough to make a race of it. EXIT ICARUS next best. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – KING CRUISER WIN RACE 2 RUNBABE has been knocking on the door with impressive top 4 efforts since joining the stables of Allan Hughes. Fourth behind Popcorn Tender before running third (albeit a distance third) to All In Red and Stella Fair. This race looks weaker again and she gets her chance. THEWAYIWALK is a 5 year old mare on debut. Always a query but the recent trial at Belmont was good. WATER HORSE didn’t fire a shot all last campaign but when Ash Maley starts them without a trial they normally go well. GINGERLAGO was a handy return to racing. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – RUNBABE WIN RACE 3 MAKFI AMOUR is a model of consistency (as is the entire Rains team) and from the gate should settle in a handy position. Was wide the trip last start in a fast run race behind Fascination and Admiral Husson. Provided Dhurun gets in, he looks a big chance. GALAXY resumes and with any luck can play a part from the inside draw. OLIVIA KNOWS was much better last start. Drawn wide but finally showing some form. OLD BAILEY resumes and can run a cheeky race at a price. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 5 – 11 Suggested Bet – MAKFI AMOUR WIN RACE 4 GINGER WILLIE put in his first below par performance in months last start but did have a stack of weight to carry. Robert Martin elects to go with claiming apprentice Victoria Cover and now drops 3kg. Form around Invictus Domini is super and he should settle right over the top of the speed and get his second win on the board. POPCORN TENDER won well first-up but will need a peach from Hagley from the horror draw. TIME STARTS NOW is getting better and better but back in trip and the wide gate look like a pair of negatives. The claim does offset those factors to an extent. THE CROWN PRINCE resumes and can go well fresh. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – GINGER WILLIE WIN RACE 5 SAKARYA was a query at 2100m, had to lump 60kg and was taken on by Trade Thunder from the 1000m mark. Should slide forward in a race with far less tempo and from there is more than capable of bouncing back into the winner’s circle at 1900m. Simone Altieri picks up the ride and should find the front. STRONG HEART won the Walkaway Cup in style but now concedes 2kg to Sakarya. Looms as the one to beat but did enjoy every favour in running last start. THE ESCORT is particularly well placed by Justine Erkelens and his best is arguably better than opponents. Great opportunity for Victoria Corver on probably the best horse in the race. SADLERS HILLS needs luck form the gate but is building quickly. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – SAKARYA WIN RACE 6 KENYLUCK skipped the last meeting and comes into this 28 days between runs. Nothing wrong with being run down by Mycroft who is low flying and from the inside draw Simone Altieri will take him to his favourite spot in front and he’ll take running down as he always does. VITAL BLAST gets in on the minimum and brings metro form. Looks the big danger and from the draw can stalk Kenyluck. Looks a match race on paper. DASHING IMAGE is now fifth up and should be about ready. GREWOLF never far from the action. Numbers: 4 – 9 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – KENYLUCK WIN RACE 7 WILDONBROOK has really turned a corner this preparation. Dominated them last start and only rises 1.5kg taking on very similar level of opposition. Form the draw can lead them up again but is versatile and even with a sit looks very hard to beat. AURMAN ZOU has been excellent since arriving in WA. Comes back in trip and with any luck is the testing material. RED EPIC should be about ready and from the gate has no excuse. SCOPTOPIA got chopped out last start and previously was in great form. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet – WILDONBROOK WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,4 1,3,5 4,9 2,8 Market Market
