Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on January 24, 2020January 28, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview RACE 1 GEMMA’S SON likely holds the title as the most impressive 2 year old we have seen so far this season. Drawn a nice gate, Harvey on, it is probably only bad luck that sees him get rolled. LA FAROLA was brave on debut when dead heating. Interesting to see if Parnham goes forward again. CHIX CHATTER logically is in the mix and has a race pattern that sees him win plenty. KEEP YOUR FEET trialed well but draws horribly. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – GEMMA’S SON WIN RACE 2 PICK YOUR BATTLES has a fair few things against him, number 1 being the barrier, but if he can jump on equal terms he may be able to bully his way to the top which would improve his winning chances tenfold. TRADE FAIR EXPRESS looks the logical danger. Has hit the line well in all of his career outings. Looking for further but ran well fresh. ALIEN FROM MARS has shown ability at trials but draws poorly. ERISTIC races on speed and was scratched to save for this. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 13 – 4 Suggested Bet – PICK YOUR BATTLES WIN RACE 3 CITY CIRCLE should do no work from the gate, either leading or box seating and from there she should be able to give the race a shake. Had wonderful three year old form behind Dance Music, Flower of War and Flirtini and finally broke through last start. LACEVINSKY could not have been any bigger last start. He was brilliant when luckless. Is a horse who can find trouble. BARON BOSTOCK has ability and can race on speed and offspeed. MORGS FREEMAN ran well against the pattern last start. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – CITY CIRCLE WIN RACE 4 INDIAN PACIFIC looks a serious animal. On debut won like a good horse and backed it up with an effortless win last start. Looks like he will do more work here from the gate and could well end up in the breeze for the first time in his short career but he could not have done more to the eye. EXCELLENT DREAM showed ability at trials as a juvenile and then backed it up last start when dominating. DRINKWHATYOULIKE draws a bad gate but she has a motor. ZIEBELL is as speedy as they come. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – INDIAN PACIFIC WIN RACE 5 DANCE MUSIC proved doubters (myself included) wrong last start when sitting outside Wrinkly in a Mandurah Cup which went close to track record time and absolutely bolting in. Again looks like rolling across to the breeze but if she can reproduce that effort she looks mighty hard to beat. WRINKLY was bitterly disappointing in the same race. Brad Parnham back on, looking for improvement. LIKE A BUTTERFLY drops back in distance from the fillies and mares series. Always consistent. LORDHELPMERUN has found form and draws soft. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – DANCE MUSIC WIN RACE 6 FREE TRADE was as good a thing beaten first-up as you will see on a race track. Not enough adjectives to describe how big he was in defeat sitting no better than four wide the trip no cover. Draws a plumb gate here and while there will be queries on how much that run took out of him Michael Lane is a genius and this is his star galloper. FLOWER OF WAR is dangerous if left alone in front. FESTIVAL MISS had no luck at all fresh and was bolting behind them. STAR GLITTER has returned to racing well. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – FREE TRADE WIN RACE 7 ABBY LANE was given a peach by Clint Johnston-Porter last start but was left flat footed and really was a bit plain. First-up run was super and Harvey goes on here. Steps up in trip which looks ideal and no surprise to see him take up the running. SERENITY BAY was one of very few horses to make any ground at Pinjarra Park. She looks like going straight through the grades and is very hard to beat. REBEL YELL backs up off 7 days and drops sharply in grade. MEDIA BARON is hard to catch but has a big turn of foot. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – ABBY LANE EACHWAY RACE 8 ACONITE has a fair bit of weight and draws wide but does tend to race off the speed naturally. The effort two starts ago in the fillies and mares series was excellent and then she stepped into fairly unchartered waters when at the staying trip. Back in distance, back in grade, she can run a race. TOO CLOSE THE SUN resumes at 1800m and there are few yards who can produce them. Lindsey Smith’s is one of them. BURNING PRIDE was a prime example of just how good W.Pike is last start. He simply outrode them. PERCEPTIVE MISS is flying. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 7 – 11 Suggested Bet – ACONITE EACHWAY RACE 9 KELLY’S GEM is drawn in the River but the first-up effort off a long break was simply eye catching. Looked impossible turning for home and charged at them late. If she can reproduce she’ll be in the finish. ARNIE’S BOY is in a purple patch. Looks to enjoy Pinjarra far more than any other track but from the gate should get every chance. OVER THERE has turned a corner and is racing far more tractably. JUICING CARROTS can surprise a few at a price. Numbers: 12 – 6 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – KELLY’S GEM WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2 1,5,7 2,3,7 5,6,12 Market Market
