Wayne’s Preview – Sixers vs Scorchers Posted on December 27, 2016June 7, 2018 | Posted by Wayne Clark Tuesday December 27, 2016 – SCG What an impressive start by the Scorchers, new territory winning the 1st game of a BBL series and to do it without some key bowlers was the confidence builder they needed. David Willey was good with the new ball and Mitchell Johnson showed his class after a lengthy period out of the game. Tye again was steady and young Jye Richardson showed he is a wicket taker. The win was set up by some great batting from Bell, Marsh and Turner and this will be the strength of the Scorchers this year. They will need to be at their top against the Sixers on a wicket that will be a lot slower and lower than the WACA. Klinger, lacking runs on the board at the moment, will be important and the finishing ability of Marsh, Turner and Agar may prove the difference. Agar and Turner’s bowling on a spin friendly wicket needs to be tight. The Sixers were disappointing against The Hurricanes and their bowling looks an issue. Joe Mennie has been disappointing and there is a reliance on the spin of O’Keefe and Botha. Both these bowlers could pose the biggest problem to the Scorchers batsmen. The batting of the Sixers has been inconsistent but Roy, Henriques and Billings have shown glimpses of what they can do if the bowlers stray. In a tight contest I’m swaying towards the Scorchers with their depth of batting and their attack showing they can fill the gap of the injured players.
