RACE 2 NO. 3 LADY SELKIRK

Talented mare LADY SELKIRK will be fitter for one run back from a spell and should bounce back to form when she runs in the Beachside Handicap (1400m). The four year old will appreciate stepping up in distance on the spacious Flemington track and will wear blinkers for the first time. She is drawn for a good run with the benefit of Ben Thompson’s 2kg claim and looks a value each way chance in a competitive race.

RACE 7 NO. 10 GALLIC CHIEFTAIN

GALLIC CHIEFTAIN looks a quality stayer in the making and should continue on his winning way when he runs in the Tauto Handicap (2000m). The import has had three runs for the Darren Weir stable and has improved on each occasion including a dominant win over 2000 metres at Pakenham on December 3. This looks the next step on his path to better staying races and GALLIC CHIEFTAIN represents the best bet of the day.

STELLAR COLLISION is a good talent that can make amends for a below standard fresh run when he contests the Scamanda Handicap (1000m). The four year old wasn’t suited by the busy nature of a Moonee Valley 1000 metres race last time, so his unplaced effort behind SHAKEPEAREAN LASS over 1000 metres on November 26 is best forgiven. He will appreciate the wide draw down the Flemington straight and looks to have a class edge on his rivals. In-form apprentice Beau Mertens takes the mount and STELLAR COLLISION is well placed to record his fifth career win from just 9 starts.
