Greg Hooper’s Ascot Preview Posted on December 16, 2016December 19, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 POINT looks a terrific chance in this opener. He ran well first-up and should be suited with the step up to a mile. He should tag the strong speed and be hard to beat. JASPARA is in career best form. He’s another who can race handy and finish strongly. SEE ME SIZZLE had no luck first-up at Bunbury. HEY LISTEN can improve on some lacklustre efforts in the Great Southern. Numbers – 6 – 3 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet – POINT WIN SuperPick - Race 1 No. 6 POINT - Profit Plus – 25% (Win) RACE 2 DAINTY TESS should get the pie run from gate 1 and gets some nice weight relief after the claim for Sarah Bonner. MISS LAWRENCE has impressed in both her career starts. This is harder but she is a filly on the rise. SLIK SAM was a strong first-up winner in a similar class of race. VEUVE DE VEGA can improve off a flat first-up run. Numbers – 1 – 10 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – DAINTY TESS AND MISS LAWRENCE RACE 3 OUR MATE AL is simply flying. He’ll get off the speed and be hard to hold out again. MOSSERATTI was backed as if unbeatable last start and was able to get it done courtesy of a brilliant ride by Damien Oliver. The draw makes it harder but he goes close again. O’REILY’S CRUMPET continues to find ways to get beaten. Pike on the minimum he’s in the mix again. THE FORGOTTEN ONE is in super form but found it tough with the 59kg last start. The same may occur again. Numbers – 4 – 3 – 11 – 1 Suggested Bet – OUR MATE AL AND MOSSERATI RACE 4 VOLKOFF is suited drawing away from the rail. She found some trouble at critical stages last start but still finished off strongly to be beaten a length in similar grade. CHINETTI will enjoy the drop back to 1100m. If he can find a spot one off the fence from his wide draw he goes close. FURIOUS DAME is racing well and Pike retains the mount. VIKING FORREST is another closer with claims. Numbers – 5 – 8 – 7 – 11 Suggested Bet – VOLKOFF WIN RACE 5 Little speed in this race and for that reason quite keen on the chances of the stable mates DREAM TIME DANCER and IDEAL IMAGE. DREAM TIME DANCER has been building nicely for this assignment all campaign and expecting she’ll be ridden much more positively over the mile. IDEAL IMAGE has raced well in all the lead-ups to the Railway and then endured a torrid run in the big one. She’s another who can race right on the speed. COSMIC STORM didn’t get the best of luck in the Jungle Dawn. She was very impressive prior to that. SILVERSTREAM improved sharply when taking out the Jungle Dawn for Damien Oliver. Numbers – 4 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – DREAMTIME DANCER AND IDEAL IMAGE RACE 6 TOMMY WHO punched wide without cover first-up and did a good job to finish in the placings. From gate 2 he gets a much more economical run and goes close. SHADY GRAY flies fresh and has his first start for his new trainer, Simon Miller. RED PADDY had an impeded run first up and finished well. The 120m will suit. DETANGO beat little at Bunbury but did it quite easily. Numbers – 10 – 5 – 6 – 11 Suggested Bet – TOMMY WHO AND SHADY GRAY RACE 7 ZARANTZ had no luck in Tattersall’s Cup and prior to that was solid in the Railway. He can settle handy the speed and stay all day. PERFECT REFLECTION is the class runner. She’s a slight query at the trip but beats most on ability alone. TRADESMAN has had little luck in both the Railway and Kingston Town. I’M FEELING LUCKY attacks this second off a good 140m run. It is a big ask but she is a winner. Numbers – 5 – 14 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – ZARANTZ AND PERFECT REFLECTION RACE 8 CRONKITE has a sticky draw to overcome but he flies for Pike and if gets some cover he goes very close again. POUNAMU is probably better drawn wide but with clear room can win. BARAKI BEATS attacked the line last week. YOSHI NOXIOUS should get the same run as last start from gate 1 and has claims. Numbers – 7 – 4 – 9 -13 Suggested Bet – CRONKITE WIN Bet Now
