Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on January 31, 2019 | Posted by Trent Cooper Trent Cooper’s Preview Race 1 SHOCKWAVE (5) is ultra-consistent having been placed at 14 of his 16 career starts and went to a new level here last week in recording a 1.54.0 all-the-way victory from this draw and looks extremely hard to beat again. GEE JAY KAY (1) couldn’t hold up from the pole and was a strong 3rd to SHOCKWAVE (5) last week and is capable of turning the tables. ELOQUENT MACH (6) ran on well to split the favourites last week and should be thereabouts. BABYFACE ADDA (2) will get a nice run and could sneak into the money. Tips: 5 1 6 2 Suggested Bet: SHOCKWAVE (5) to win. Race 2 BRONZE SEEKER (1) won two in a row in early January before battling bad barriers at his past two starts. He is drawn to lead or sit behind WESLEY (4) here and will be hard to beat in either scenario. WESLEY (4) performed well during the Nights Of Thunder series and will appreciate the drop in class. QTOWN RIP ROARING (10) is drawn to get a soft run on the pegs and could be dangerous late if he obtains clear running. SOHO CHELSEA (8) ran a nice 3rd in the Nights Of Thunder but has a wide draw to overcome. Tips: 1 4 10 8 Suggested Bet: QTOWN RIP ROARING (10) each way. Race 3 COURAGE TELLS (3) led throughout here on New Years Eve and chased hard when clear to finish 2nd to Chiaroscuro last week. He is drawn well and should give a great sight. NAVAL AVIATOR (6) has hit peak form, winning his last three on end and his Albany Cup victory indicates he should perform well tonight. MICHAEL JOSEPH (9) is drawn poorly but will appreciate a drop in class and should be considered. YOU GOTTA HAVE FAITH (2) is a last start winner and the class rise is offset by his lovely draw. Tips: 3 6 9 2 Suggested Bet: COURAGE TELLS (3) to win. Race 4 TOUCH OF SUCCESS (2) is building up to his best form and ran a nice 2nd to the talented Caviar Star last start. He has good gate speed and should prove hard to catch if he finds the front. ARDENS CONCORD (6) raced in better company last time in and will make his presence felt if anywhere near his best first-up. CAMPORA (1) has been unplaced at his past ten starts but should be a big improver from the pole. SMOLDERING ASHES (7) ran on strongly to finish 3rd here last week and can be in the money. Tips: 2 6 1 7 Suggested Bet: TOUCH OF SUCCESS (2) to win. Race 5 MACZAFFAIR (7) was a comfortable winner in mares’ company three starts back before taking on the boys in the feature races. She ran a nice 3rd in the WA Pacing Cup and will appreciate being back against her own sex tonight. MARY CATHERINE (1) has impressed with 2nds at her last two starts and should figure prominently from the pole. LADY DE LA RENTA (4) defeated MARY CATHERINE (1) at her last start and could cause a minor upset if the pace is on. MISS SANGRIAL (2) is drawn to get a lovely run and won’t be far away. Tips: 7 1 4 2 Suggested Bet: MACZAFFAIR (7) to win. Race 6 VULTAN TIN (2) was well driven to overcome a wide barrier when a strong winner here last week and looks the one to beat from his perfect draw tonight. EL JACKO (11) beat VULTAN TIN (2) three starts back and was a fast finishing 2nd in the WA Pacing Cup so must be respected. HANDSANDWHEELS (3) ran on strongly to finish 4th here last week and may try his hand at crossing at the start. ARGYLE RED (1) looks a good place chance at odds if he sits on one of the fancied runners. Tips: 2 11 3 1 Suggested Bet: VULTAN TIN (2) to win. Race 7 CHOK CHAI (5) is a talented customer who has won 10 of his 15 career starts. He resumes here without a trial but should be too classy if anywhere near right. CARRERA MACH (1) disappointed last start after racing consistently but should be prominent from his pole draw. CLARENDEN HUSTLER (7) flew late when clear last week and looks to be working in to form. VINCENZO PERUGGIA (8) has produced solid efforts at his first two runs back from a spell and should be ready to show his best. Tips: 5 1 7 8 Suggested Bet: CHOK CHAI (5) to win. Race 8 BAYLAN JETT (1) has battled bad barriers and luck recently but gets his chance tonight. He was a solid 5th here last week after facing the breeze and should give a great sight from the pole. ROMAN AVIATOR (5) has competed against better fields at his last two starts and will appreciate the drop in class. ULTIMATE MAJOR (4) would be right in this if near his best and has changed stables so monitor the betting. IM BATMAN (2) was held up for a run at his last start and can play a part from this draw. Tips: 1 5 4 2 Suggested Bet: BAYLAN JETT (1) to win. Race 9 OUR CORELLI (3) has won six of his 14 starts and was supported to beat Jack Mac when 5th to that pacer two starts back. He resumes here without a trial but is clearly the one to beat. BOB WHEEL (2) was an upset winner five starts back and hasn’t had much luck since so must be respected from the draw. THISBEACHRIGHTHERE (4) has endured tough runs at his last three starts and can be in the finish with a better trip in transit. MISTER BUSHIDO (7) disappointed as an odds on favourite last week so would have be taken on trust. Tips: 3 2 4 7 Suggested Bet: Quinella BOB WHEEL (2) & OUR CORELLI (3). Race 10 LUIS ALBERTO (2) is WA harness racing’s equivalent to Tom Melbourne, without the bank balance. He had no luck last week and he won’t get a better chance to win a metro event. SEA ME SMILE (3) has a losing sequence of 46 and looks the main danger, which says a lot about this field. She is consistent and should be in the finish. ABSOLUTION (7) is one-paced but that could be good enough to figure here. STUNIN EYES ONLY (1) looks a good place chance from the pole. Tips: 2 3 7 1 Suggested Bet: Quinella LUIS ALBERTO (2) & SEA ME SMILE (3). Market Market
