Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on January 29, 2026January 29, 2026 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 Last ever blog from me. Thanks to the punters for their support and lack of abuse even when I’ve been way off the mark. Hope this final set of tips is a good one. MONTERIO (2) ran a strong 2nd in a midweek event here that was stronger than he meets tonight so he should prove hard to beat. THE RIGHTEOUS (4) drops significantly in class on his last effort and should be thereabouts. VINTAGE BLU (8) has a tough draw to overcome but he is racing quite well. FIREBALL FRIDAY (1) is limited but so are most of these and he has the pole draw. Tips: 2 4 8 1 Suggested Bet: MONTERIO (2) to win. Race 2 HUGOTASTIC (9) has been beaten as an odds on favourite at his two starts this time in and punters could be forgiven for looking elsewhere tonight but he is the class runner of the field and does look the one to beat. LINCOLN RIVER (3) beat the favourite home before running a great 2nd in the final of the Nights Of Thunder and is an obvious danger. NORTHVIEW DANCE (5) has gate speed and must be considered on his 1.55.0 all-the-way win from barrier nine two starts back. SOHO VESPER LIND (1) is a place chance from the pole. Tips: 9 3 5 1 Suggested Bet: HUGOTASTIC (9) to win. Race 3 PETES HONOUR (6) was driven for luck and got none at his last start but can be put into the race in this company and appeals as the one to beat. ELDAYTONA (9) is back to his best and has the strength to overcome the wide barrier. LOU LAMOUR (4) is racing very consistently and must be considered but does his best work on the pegs and the polemarker could decide his fate. WHOS THE DAD (7) hit the line nicely here last week and will be suited if there is a solid early tempo. Tips: 6 9 4 7 Suggested Bet: PETES HONOUR (6) to win. Race 4 OUR CRUNCH TIME (2) crosses the Tasman with very good NZ form and the barrier looks perfect. He hasn’t been seen in public trials so the market will be the best guide. ROCKOKO (10) was an impressive first-up winner and should race his way through the classes and looks the obvious danger. JASPERVELLABEACH (5) has won his last two in solid time and the old boy would give them something to catch if he can cross at the start. ECLIPSE LINE (1) is drawn to get a soft run behind the speed and can be placed. Tips: 2 10 5 1 Suggested Bet: OUR CRUNCH TIME (2) to win. Race 5 BETTER ELCIPSE (9) has battled wide barriers at his last three starts and finished 2nd on each occasion. This looks a collectively weaker line up and he should fight out the finish. TALKS UP A STORM (1) is a good frontrunner and can improve sharply from the pole. FAT LOUIE (8) bolted in against a similar field last week and must be respected but will need some luck from out here. ROCKANDROLLARTIST (10) ran a nice 2nd to FAT LOUIE (9) and is drawn to enjoy a nice run on the pegs. Tips: 9 1 8 10 Suggested Bet: BETTER ELCIPSE (9) to win. Race 6 MAJESTIC GA GA (14) is flying and has won her last three on end. The 50m handicap is never easy but she won’t be doing the chasing on her own and deserves to be favourite. GRUMPEE (7) was heavily backed to beat MAJESTIC GA GA (14) in the Trotters Sprint but blew the start so must be respected. YANKEE LOVER (8) and LIGHTNING MCQUEEN (9) are both capable of winning and whoever steps the quickest off the 20m handicap will have the advantage. Tips: 14 9 7 8 Suggested Bet: MAJESTIC GA GA (14) to win. Race 7 SEBASTIAN JAMES (8) was a very impressive Pinjarra winner before being slightly disappointing when leading and being beaten into 3rd in a heat of the Nights Of Thunder. They did go 1.53.7 in that event and he will find this easier. LOCH TAY (1) was held up early when a 2m 2nd here last week and she should give a great sight from the pole over the sprint trip. WATCH ME WAVE (2) is racing consistently and should be in the finish. ICY COLD (10) is drawn to enjoy a soft run on the pegs and can be dangerous. Tips: 8 1 2 10 Suggested Bet: SEBASTIAN JAMES (8) to win. Race 8 SWEET COCO (9) is beaten as favourite more often than not and she is likely to head the market again. She couldn’t make up ground in a quick last half behind HUNGER STRIKE (7) at her last start and will be hoping for a solid early tempo to help her overcome the wide draw tonight. SUGAR DELIGHT (5) has finished near the rear at her last two starts but is the best drawn of the main chances here and can improve sharply. HUNGER STRIKE (7) led throughout to defeat a very similar field comfortably a fortnight ago but is unlikely to find the front tonight. QUEENINTHECORNER (6) led throughout in good time here last week and would give a great sight again if she crossed at the start. Tips: 9 5 7 6 Suggested Bet: SWEET COCO (9) to win. Race 9 HI SUGA RUSH (10) had every chance when leading last week but he was beaten into 3rd by a nice horse and will find this easier. SIANGDI (1) was disappointing at his last start but hasn’t been since for three weeks and would be the obvious danger if he reproduces his best form. TARTYN ROBYN (6) was solid at his first run back from a spell and can play a part. CIAO BABE (2) is limited but can be placed if she can get to the pegs. Tips: 10 1 6 2 Suggested Bet: HI SUGA RUSH (10) to win. Market Market
