Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on July 11, 2025July 11, 2025 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 STRONG THE STRIKER (1) faced the breeze when a strong 2nd on debut. He looks to have enough gate speed to hold up here and looks a good each way prospect in a wide-open affair. FEAR THE STORM (4) showed plenty of ability in his first campaign and recently defeated the polemarker in a Pinjarra trial and must be respected first-up. CHUGACHI (7) is first-up without a trial but impressed in his first campaign so monitor the betting. CEASE TO REACT (9) is a tough customer who will need to be to overcome the horror draw. MAJESTIC LOMBO (6), MA PETITE DAME (8) and BUTTER ME UP (10) can all win without surprising. Tips: 1 5 7 9 Suggested Bet: STRONG THE STRIKER (1) each way. Race 2 CANDY APPLE (6) is racing extremely consistently and she can press forward to the breeze here and should fight out the finish. ATLANTIC GEM (8) is the class runner of the field but she was slightly disappointing when beaten into 2nd first-up and she has a tough draw to overcome. GOTA GOOD WARHOL (2) started at triple figure odds when 2nd here last week and comes into the pole after the scratching. BLOCKJORG (3) is better suited back to the sprint trip and can give a sight. Tips: 6 8 2 3 Suggested Bet: CANDY APPLE (6) to win. Race 3 BLAZE ON (9) worked hard in the run when 2nd to NO NONEY (8) at his last start and looks set to do all of the work again but is clearly the one to beat. HOLD THE AMMO (10) has a sharp turn of foot and will be charging home if he sees daylight at the right time from this barrier. NO NONEY (8) did defeat a stronger field at his last start and can win again but the map doesn’t look as favourable tonight. POCKET THE CHANGE (1) chased home a smart one in 1.53.4 at his last start and should give a great sight from the pole. Tips: 9 10 8 1 Suggested Bet: BLAZE ON (9) to win. Race 4 LOUIE DIOR (7) has been placed in three of his four starts this time in and is getting close to his best form. He faced the breeze when 3rd to Copy Cat Queen in good time here last week and looks a great each way chance again. IM LIGHTNING BANNER (11) won four on end to finish his last campaign and worked hard in the early stages when 7th first-up and looks a big improver here. MR FANTASTIC (1) would lead and be hard to beat if near his top but is first-up without a trial so monitor the betting. STARLIGHT DREAM (8) is capable of finishing over the top Tips: 7 11 1 8 Suggested Bet: LOUIE DIOR (7) each way. Race 5 GEE HEZA SPORT (9) worked his way to the front when a comfortable winner first-up and is clearly the one to beat again despite the wide draw. LUSAKA (11) has had no luck at all recently and will be a big improver if things go his way tonight. IM THE BLACK FLASH (1) has been placed in five of his six starts this time in and can figure in the finish but he is likely to be crossed at the start. LONGREACH BAY (5) crossed from this barrier last week and then sat on GEE HEZA SPORT (9) when 2nd to that pacer and can do the same again but the extra distance isn’t in his favour. Tips: 9 11 1 5 Suggested Bet: GEE HEZA SPORT (9) to win. Race 6 DAWSON (7) has won his last three on end with the last two being from the stand. He is in the zone and is clearly the one to beat. CHILLI PUNTER (6) was beaten 12 metres by DAWSON (7) at her last start but is now handicapped alongside the favourite and can turn the tables if she finds the front. HEEZ A VIBE (8) hasn’t been able to get into the races at his two runs back from a spell but should improve sharply here. SKYLOU (11) is the best horse in the event and is capable of overcoming the 50m handicap as long as one of the favourites doesn’t get an easy lead. Tips: 7 6 8 11 Suggested Bet: DAWSON (7) to win. Race 7 NASE VIRA (12) ran on well to finish 5th behind Heavenly Gipsy at her first run back from a break. She will strip fitter tonight and will appreciate the drop in class. COPY CAT QUEEN (8) has won two of her last three starts courtesy of her lethal finish and will be charging home again if there is a solid tempo. GRAND COUTEAU (4) led throughout at her first start back from a spell and will be hard to catch if she finds the top again. EKARA NAVAJO (1) goes up considerably in class but she did sprint home in 55.4 in her last start win and can play a part from the pole. Tips: 12 8 4 1 Suggested Bet: NASE VIRA (12) each way. Race 8 YANKEE LOVER (9) has won three of his last four starts and did things wrong in the other. He won’t find it easy from out here but still looks the one to beat. ALDEBARAN BOYD (3) led throughout at his WA debut and should lead and prove hard to catch again. THATS NOT MY GAIT (5) faced the breeze when a solid 2nd to ALDEBARAN BOYD (3) at his last start and can upset the favoured pair if the breaks go his way. NICKYS SON (6) won two of his last three starts before going for a break and recent 2nd in a trial against the pacers indicated that he can make his presence felt first-up. Tips: 9 3 5 6 Suggested Bet: THATS NOT MY GAIT (5) each way. Race 9 CHASE ME (6) has comfortably won both of his starts since crossing the Tasman and it is hard to see him having his colours lowered from his nice barrier. MIKIS PRIDE (11) would have really tested the favourite from a better barrier but now looks to be running for 2nd. TWOBOB CRACKER (10) will enjoy a soft run on the pegs and looks a good place chance if he can get off at the right time. HUNT THE MAGIC 2) won well here last week and shouldn’t be far away. Tips: 6 11 10 2 Suggested Bet: CHASE ME (6) to win. Race 10 SWEET PINS (3) has only had the one start and hasn’t been seen for over a year but he is very smart and a recent trial indicates that he should be winning this comfortably. SHEZA SASSY LADY (12) has won three of her six starts and may attempt to follow the favourite through at the start to obtain a position close to the lead. THE SWINDLER (10) rises significantly in class on his last start win but he is drawn on the pegs and that should be the place to be when the favourite opens up. HEARTOFAHLIA (7) is racing well but the draw makes it tough. Tips: 3 12 10 7 Suggested Bet: SWEET PINS (3) to win. Market Market
