Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on December 12, 2024December 12, 2024 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 SHOWPONY (4) was held up at a crucial stage when 4th to Mikis Beach here last week and this looks the type of race he can be driven positively and he should give a great sight at each way odds. MAJOR OVERS (3) has been racing consistently and he will be hard to catch if he can cross at the start. MISTER MACEDON (9) has led throughout at his last two starts and must be respected here despite the draw. MIDDLEPAGE (1) is racing well enough to win a race of this nature but he is likely to be crossed at the start. Tips: 4 3 9 1 Suggested Bet: SHOWPONY (4) each way. Race 2 MAUNGATAHI (1) is first-up without a trial but he has a significant barrier advantage over his main rivals and he should give a great sight if he is anywhere near his best. MIKIS BEACH (7) is still learning how to race but he has plenty of ability and will make his presence felt. WAVERIDER (9) is the baby of the field and is drawn poorly but will be suited by a likely solid tempo. SPICEY MAJOR (8) is another with more ability than manners but has won four of his five starts in WA and must be considered. Tips: 1 7 9 8 Suggested Bet: MAUNGATAHI (1) each way. Race 3 RAGAZZO MACH (11) should be ready to show his best at his fourth run back from a long spell and this looks an ideal assignment for him. ROCKANDROLLARTIST (8) has been placed in five of his last six starts and will be hard to catch if he can use his brilliant gate speed to cross at the start. STREET HAWK (9) has only been plain at his last two starts after two strong 2nds and his best would be capable of overcoming this barrier. IMA FIVESTAR GENERAL (7) is racing consistently and can win a race of this nature with the right trip. Tips: 11 8 9 7 Suggested Bet: RAGAZZO MACH (11) to win. Race 4 TRICKY MIKI (1) has had his chance when finishing just behind the placegetters in similar fields at his last two starts but he gets his chance from the pole tonight and should prove hard to beat if he holds up at the start. JUMPINGJACKMAC (7) crossed from a similar draw when a good winner here last week and doesn’t have to lead to win. LAVRA JOE (9) was beaten into 2nd in that event as $1.85 favourite and is drawn poorly but must be respected. JAWSOFLINCOLN (3) defeated a similar field at his last start but is yet to be placed at the distance and will need a soft trip behind the speed. Tips: 1 7 9 3 Suggested Bet: TRICKY MIKI (1) to win. Race 5 NEVER ENDING (1) was a long-time favourite for this event but the gloss has come off after a NSW trip and a minor setback that saw him below his best first-up. He may not have the race fitness of his major rival but he has the barrier advantage and that could be decisive if he maintains that throughout. MISTER SMARTEE (2) has been outstanding this time in and Gary Hall Jnr has chosen him over the polemarker which is a significant lead. OK BOOMER (10) and SKYLORD (11) don’t have the class of the favoured pair but they could get the runs needed to cause an upset if they overdo it up front. Tips: 1 2 10 11 Suggested Bet: NEVER ENDING (1) to win. Race 6 GOODFELLAZ (1) is back to his best and his 2nd from the breeze in 1.54.8 here last week indicates that he will be extremely hard to beat if he can hold up at the start. STAR CASINO (10) is drawn to get a lovely run behind the favourite and should be in the finish. HAMPTON BANNER (2) has a losing sequence of 21 but is racing well and shouldn’t be far away. DALVEY ROBYN (4) was a good winner at his second start in WA but hasn’t been seen for a month so monitor the betting. Tips: 1 10 2 4 Suggested Bet: GOODFELLAZ (1) to win. Race 7 CALIENTE (1) led throughout to defeat a similar field two starts back and he will be hard to catch if he steps to the front again. MY COPY (7) crosses the Tasman with good NZ form but hasn’t been seen in public so watch the market. BRICKIES DREAM (6) didn’t have a lot go his way when a 6.6m 2nd to CALIENTE (1) and can turn the tables with the right run. CHEDDAR IS BETTER (2) is a reliable stand performer who will be great place chance if he can get to the rail. Tips: 1 7 6 2 Suggested Bet: CALIENTE (1) to win. Race 8 SOHO HONEY RIDER (5) hasn’t had much luck in this company lately but she is drawn inside her main rivals tonight and will give a great sight if he she can work her way to the front. NASE VIRA (6) was a dominant winner against a similar field before getting into trouble here last week behind ATLANTIC GEM (12) and is an obvious danger. COPY CAT QUEEN (8) caught the eye with a fast-finishing 2nd in that event and will be charging home again. ATLANTIC GEM (12) led throughout to beat most of these last week but goes to the backline tonight and isn’t suited by the sprint trip. Tips: 5 6 8 12 Suggested Bet: SOHO HONEY RIDER (5) to win. Race 9 THELITTLE MASTER (7) is the youngest runner and hasn’t been at his best in his three runs back from a spell but this is a significant drop in class and he looks the one to beat. IM SPIDERMAN (1) has been unplaced in his five starts this time in but looks a big improver from the pole. HENGHENG (10) is drawn to get a nice run on the pegs and should be in the money if he sees daylight at the right time. BARBADOS (11) has been disappointing of late but his last start 2nd had plenty of merit and he shouldn’t be far away. Tips: 7 1 10 11 Suggested Bet: THELITTLE MASTER (7) to win. Race 10 NULLABOR NAVAJO (5) ran on well when 2nd to Whataretheodds in slick time at her last start and she looks suited against this line-up. MONTANA GLORY (6) was a brilliant 1.55.4 all the way winner over Peaceful two starts back but couldn’t withstand the mid-race pressure from the boys here last week. She drops back to her own sex tonight and looks a major player. REBLINE (2) may have been too close to the speed at her last start but should settle in a nice spot without having to expend any energy and shouldn’t be far away. FLEUR DU MAQUIS (3) is a tough mare and she will give a great sight if she can bully her way to the front. Tips: 5 6 2 3 Suggested Bet: NULLABOR NAVAJO (5) to win. Market Market
