Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on December 5, 2024December 5, 2024 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 MIKIS BEACH (4) only won narrowly when a $1.10 favourite at his last start but he has been racing in strong company and he is clearly the one to beat tonight. ALTA FREEWAY (2) led throughout to record consecutive wins in October and has been unplaced in his last three starts when unable to find the front. He is drawn well and will give them something to catch if he finds the top. NAME IN LIGHTS (1) and SHOWPONY (10) should enjoy nice runs on the pegs and should be thereabouts. Tips: 4 2 1 10 Suggested Bet: MIKIS BEACH (4) to win. Race 2 THENU CAME ALONG (9) was placed in the WA Derby and charged to the line when 3rd to Tualou at his last start. He will need a solid tempo to give him his chance nut he is flying. FRANKLIN DELANO (7) won three on end before finishing 2nd to Tualou and looks a major player again. IM LIGHTNING BANNER (6) has the high speed to overcome this draw and must be considered despite having seven weeks between runs. JIMMY ROCKS (5) is racing consistently and is versatile. Tips: 9 7 6 5 Suggested Bet: THENU CAME ALONG (9) to win. Race 3 VENTURA (3) hasn’t had much luck at his two starts since a dominant first-up win and he is clearly the one to beat from this draw. RAGAZZO MACH (5) looked to have plenty to offer when held up here last week and should be ready to show his best at his third run back from a long spell. TOMMY WATERHOUSE (1) led when a close 2nd here two starts back and should be prominent from the pole. ROCKANDROLLARTIST (10) has been placed in four of his last five starts and won’t be far away from his nice trailing draw. Tips: 3 5 1 10 Suggested Bet: VENTURA (3) to win. Race 4 SWINGBAND (4) has been battling bad draws against the state’s best pacers and will appreciate the massive drop in class and favourable draw tonight. GOODFELLAZ (8) is back in form and is the obvious danger but has a tough barrier to overcome. DOMINUS FACTUM (3) is a quick beginner who will run a big race if he can cross at the start. FLYING RUMOUR (1) has disappointed in his last three starts but is capable of sharp improvement. Tips: 4 8 3 1 Suggested Bet: SWINGBAND (4) to win. Race 5 MONTANA GLORY (1) goes up in class tonight but she led throughout in 1.55.4 here last week and a repeat performance will see her give a great sight. TUALOU (5) has been ultra-impressive in winning his last two starts and is capable of beating the older horses tonight. WHATARETHEODDS (10) sprinted brilliantly to win in quick time here last week and looks a good each way chance from his nice trailing draw. GOLDEN LODE (6) has a sharp turn of foot and will be suited if there is a solid tempo. Tips: 1 5 10 6 Suggested Bet: MONTANA GLORY (1) each way. Race 6 LAVRA JOE (1) was only plain at his first three runs back from a spell but caught the eye in Pacing Cup and his recent Bunbury trial win indicated that he will give them something to catch here. NEVER ENDING (7) resumes from a short break and is an excitement machine who will be suited by the small field. JUMPINGJACKMAC (6) normally finds one better but he is racing as well as ever. DIEGO (2) has been unplaced in his five starts this time in but should be a sharp improver from this barrier. Tips: 1 7 6 2 Suggested Bet: LAVRA JOE (1) to win. Race 7 PENNY BLACK (5) had no luck in the mares’ classics but proved her strength when a 1.54.9 winner after facing the breeze here last week. She is likely to do it tough again but should still prove hard to beat. LITTLE DARLING (3) was narrowly beaten in the Norms Daughter before running a great 4th to Aardiebytheseaside and is the obvious danger after drawing inside her main rival. ACUSHLA MACHREE (1) rises in class on her consecutive wins but should enjoy a nice run behind the speed and can be placed. WONDERFUL TO FLY (8) was placed in both of the mares’ classics and will be charging home if there is a solid tempo. Tips: 5 3 1 8 Suggested Bet: PENNY BLACK (5) to win. Race 8 OK BOOMER (3) led throughout to win the 4YO Championship and is the one to beat but he was badly away at his only attempt from the stand which is a concern. ROCK ARTIST (4) is a standing start specialist who ran a solid 6th to Mister Smartee here last week and will be hard to catch if he steps to the front. SOHO SANTORINI (2) has a losing sequence of 15 but is racing consistently and should be prominent throughout. BLITZEMBYE (9) is a classy conveyance but is first-up without as trial and has a 20m handicap to overcome. Tips: 3 4 2 9 Suggested Bet: OK BOOMER (3) to win. Race 9 LUCKY COPY (1) was a good all-the-way Northam winner before disappointing when leading and finishing at the rear here last start. She ran a quick lead time on that occasion and could improve sharply with an easier time out in front tonight. THE FIRST CUT (5) has finished 2nd at all three race starts and should be in the finish again. FLY SHE CAN (6) overcame a wide draw to finish 2nd to Its Maa Time at her last start and can figure again. RUIA (8) has been placed at her last eight starts including a victory against a similar field two starts back and must be considered in a wide-open affair. Tips: 1 5 6 8 Suggested Bet: LUCKY COPY (1) to win. Race 10 MISTER MACEDON (2) wasn’t overly impressive when winning as a $1.10 favourite at his last start but still appeals as the one to beat from his nice draw. SPOIL THE PARTY (4) looked sharp in winning a Lightning Lap event at his last start and is the obvious danger. JILLIBY JAKE (1) led throughout in 1.57.9 here two starts back and a similar performance will see him in the finish. CHAMBRAY (3) should be prominent throughout and can be placed. Tips: 2 4 1 3 Suggested Bet: MISTER MACEDON (2) to win. Market Market
