Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on June 22, 2023June 22, 2023 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 MISTER SMARTEE (1) arrived in Australia with a big reputation and was an impressive first-up winner against a weak field. The rise in class tonight is offset by his perfect barrier and he is clearly the one to beat. FESS UP (8) defeated a similar field here last week but isn’t as well drawn and MISTER SMARTEE (1) is an addition to the line-up. SKYLORD (7) has won six of his 11 starts and is up to these on ability but will need some luck from out here. CROWD CONTROL (2) doesn’t have the class of his rivals but can sneak a place. Tips: 1 8 7 2 Suggested Bet: MISTER SMARTEE (1) to win. Race 2 CLASSIC CHOICE (2) has been working hard in his races after starting from wide draws but has been performing well. He gets a nice barrier here and he should give a great sight. ROCKSTAR REBEL (3) is first-up but has brilliant gate speed and will give them something to catch if he can cross at the start. MOONLIGHT DRIVE (8) has been racing well in stronger company but has a tough draw to overcome. AMERICAN BULLITT (1) is drawn to get a soft run on the pegs and can be placed at odds. Tips: 2 3 8 1 Suggested Bet: CLASSIC CHOICE (2) to win. Race 3 GALACTIC STAR (1) is past his best but he has been racing consistently in stronger fields and he has options from the pole tonight. THE CODE BREAKER (2) had his chance out in front last week when a slightly disappointing 3rd to Faster Than Dad but is drawn to be prominent again. ELDAYTONA (7) was a strong 2nd from the breeze here last week and should fight out the finish again despite the wide draw. THE MUSTANG (3) lacked his usual early dash last week and finished at the rear but can play a part. Tips: 1 2 7 3 Suggested Bet: GALACTIC STAR (1) each way. Race 4 SOHO DOW JONES (2) has led throughout to win his last two starts and will make it very difficult for the backmarker if he steps to the front. MAGNIFICENT STORM (10) is the state’s best pacer who is racing in scintillating fashion and he is capable of overcoming the 60m handicap if there is one slow quarter. HIMSELF (6) has won nine of 11 from the stand and must be considered after a strong 2nd first-up. ARDENS HORIZON (4) doesn’t have the class of a few of his rivals but will give a sight if he finds the top. Tips: 2 10 6 4 Suggested Bet: SOHO DOW JONES (2) each way. Race 5 WONDERFUL TO FLY (1) has comfortably won her last three starts against similar fields and will be a short quote to make four on end after coming up with the pole draw. EIGHTEEN CARAT (10) finished at the tail behind the favourite here last week but will enjoy a nicer trip tonight and should improve sharply. ACHARNE GIRL (11) has won all five starts this time in and looks a good place chance. TAKING THE MIKI (12) may elect to go back to the pegs and that could be the place to be in last lap. Tips: 1 10 11 12 Suggested Bet: WONDERFUL TO FLY (1) to win. Race 6 MIGHTHAVTIME (1) disappointed when a beaten fancy at his first two starts but made amends with an impressive win here last week and can go on with it now after coming up with a perfect draw. WATCHING OUR COIN (6) was an impressive 1.55.7 winner from the breeze at his last start and must be respected on that effort. BEAT THE BANK (2) is racing consistently and should be in the firing line throughout. REBLINE (10) has form on country tracks that indicate he can sneak a place from this draw. Tips: 1 6 2 10 Suggested Bet: MIGHTHAVTIME (1) to win. Race 7 PRINCE OF PLEASURE (1) has won three of his four starts this time in and he should lead and prove extremely hard to beat tonight. FINVARRA (2) faced the breeze when a game 2nd to the favourite last week and looks a great chance to fill the quinella position again. JETT STAR (3) faced the breeze when a 1.54.8 winner over this distance two starts back and a similar performance will see him in the finish. TENZING BROMAC (4) is an inconsistent type who is first-up but he can be dangerous on his night. Tips: 1 2 3 4 Suggested Bet: PRINCE OF PLEASURE (1) to win. Race 8 SAHARA STORM (1) has been unplaced at her past seven starts but ran a nice 4th at his last start and looks capable of winning this event from the pole. VINTAGE BLU (2) led when 2nd to Mighthavtime here last week and would be hard to catch if he found the front here. CHERISHTHEMEMORIES (5) ran a strong 3rd from the breeze here last week in stronger company and loves the sprint trip. RUN FOR MERCY (7) will need a strong early tempo but is racing well and can be in the money at big odds. Tips: 1 2 5 7 Suggested Bet: SAHARA STORM (1) to win. Race 9 SAN REMO BEACH (2) was a good all-the-way winner two starts back before running on well to finish 3rd to Nase Vira here last week. She is the best drawn of the main chances and should prove hard to catch if she finds the front. MADDY LOU (6) has won both career starts and has the ability but will have to prove her versatility from out here. IN A WINK (5) overcame an early check to run a solid 5th here last week and looks a major player. MANEA (1) has been unplaced at his last three starts but can play a part from the pole. Tips: 2 6 5 1 Suggested Bet: SAN REMO BEACH (2) to win. Market Market
