Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on January 26, 2023March 10, 2023 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 ETON ROCK (10) was travelling like the winner when held up for a run from the same draw last week. He will obviously need better luck tonight but will be charging home if he does see daylight. WAIT FOR THE BELL (1) was a good 3rd here in a similar race last week and looks a major player from the pole. PAROQUET (2) ran on well to finish 3rd here last week and will be hard to catch if she can find the front. OUR SHELLEY BEACH (3) led when 2nd here in 1.54.4 last week and can also race well with a sit. Tips: 10 1 2 3 Suggested Bet: ETON ROCK (10) each way. Race 2 NEVERMINDTHECHAOS (5) followed two strong efforts with an impressive 1.55.4 win from the breeze here last week and is clearly the one to beat. IMTHEMIGHTYLUCY (2) was first-up when she led but knocked up late here last week and will strip fitter tonight. STAR OF DIAMONDS (8) has a win over NEVERMINDTHECHAOS (5) and a 2nd to that mare in her last two starts but has a tough draw to overcome. THREE RUMOURS (10) has won three of her last five starts but has a back line draw to overcome. Tips: 5 2 8 10 Suggested Bet: NEVERMINDTHECHAOS (5) to win. Race 3 VALENTINES BROOK (6) followed four consecutive 2nds with two impressive victories and appeals as the one to beat. DISCO UNDER FIRE (1) led throughout to defeat a weaker field before struggling in better company last week but should give a sight with the drop in grade. MEA CULPA (8) is flying and can’t be discounted despite the wide draw. WHOSWHOINTHEZOO (2) beat a weaker field here last week and should get a nice run on the leader’s back tonight. Tips: 6 1 8 2 Suggested Bet: VALENTINES BROOK (6) to win. Race 4 VAMPIRO (7) disappointed when he led and finished 7th at his first two runs back from a spell but ran a good 4th from the breeze at his last start and will give a great sight if he can cross at the start. GLENLEDI CHIEF (2) ran on from the rear to finish 2nd to Sangue Reale here last week and is drawn to be prominent throughout tonight. PERFECT MAJOR (1) was crossed from this barrier and then held up for a run until late when 2nd to Mighty Conqueror and should be thereabouts again. TYPHOON BANNER (5) can be in the money at odds. Tips: 7 2 1 5 Suggested Bet: VAMPIRO (7) to win. Race 5 MINSTREL (2) hasn’t won for almost a year but faced the breeze and was the run of the race in the Fremantle Cup when 2nd to MIGHTY RONALDO (10). He is well drawn tonight and will be suited by the extra distance. DIEGO (1) disappointed when he led and was beaten into 3rd in the Fremantle Cup but is a major player again after coming up with the pole draw. MIGHTY RONALDO (10) had a lovely run and finished strongly to win the Fremantle Cup and looks dangerous from his nice trailing draw. MAGNIFICENT STORM (4) has disappointed at his last two starts but can improve sharply if he can find the front. Tips: 2 1 10 4 Suggested Bet: MINSTREL (2) each way. Race 6 ONESMARTFELLA (2) led throughout for consecutive wins to start this campaign and then battled bad draws in the Nights Of Thunder series. He looks a good chance to find the top here and will give a great sight under that scenario. WALSH (1) has been racing well from bad draws and has options at the start. MIRRAGON (3) is a quick beginner who ran a great 2nd from the breeze here last week and must be considered. HENGHENG (5) led throughout from the pole last start but will find it harder from out here. Tips: 2 1 3 5 Suggested Bet: ONESMARTFELLA (2) to win. Race 7 JAMES BUTT (1) led and disappointed when 4th as a $1.85 favourite at his first run back from a spell. He should strip fitter and looks suited here over the sprint trip. MANNING (5) hasn’t had much luck of late and can be driven aggressively against this line-up. DONT BOTHER ME NONE (4) couldn’t handle the sustained speed in the Nights Of Thunder series but will appreciate the drop in class tonight. GEE SMITH (2) is likely to enjoy a soft run just behind the speed and should be thereabouts. Tips: 1 5 4 2 Suggested Bet: JAMES BUTT (1) to win. Race 8 RUMOUR HAS IT (1) was placed at her last start and is ready to show her best at her third run back from a long spell. She looks the likely leader and should prove hard to beat. MASTER YOSSI (2) was a close 2nd here last week and has the advantage of race fitness over his main rival. REBEL WITH A GRIN (7) is racing well but has a tough draw to overcome. SAMEPLACESAMETIME (3) is drawn to get a soft run behind the speed and can be placed. Tips: 1 2 7 3 Suggested Bet: RUMOUR HAS IT (1) to win. Race 9 THE IDEAL TOUCH (1) resumed with a good 5th in better company and appeals as the one to beat after coming up with the pole draw. TENZING BROMAC (5) chased hard when 2nd to Pinny Tiger in 1.51.2 here last week and has the strength to overcome the wide draw. SOCRATES (2) was a good 3rd from the breeze at his last start and has the gate speed to make things interesting in the early stages. MIDDLEPAGE (4) isn’t reliable but has the ability to figure in the finish. Tips: 1 5 2 4 Suggested Bet: THE IDEAL TOUCH (1) to win. Race 10 REGAL CHEVAL (3) has finished just behind the placegetters at his two runs back from a spell and will give them something to catch if he can cross at the start. SHADOW ROLL (5) ran a solid 5th from the breeze here last week and should fight out the finish here. LITTLE SUZIE (1) has finished towards the rear at her two runs back from a spell but can be a sharp improver from the pole. TWOANDAHALFTIGERS (2) didn’t have a great Busselton campaign but shouldn’t be far away from this draw. Tips: 3 5 1 2 Suggested Bet: REGAL CHEVAL (3) to win. Market Market
