Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on October 13, 2022October 13, 2022 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 SMART WATCH (11) has impressed in winning both starts since coming to WA and appeals as the one to beat despite the back line draw and rise in class. SWAGGER MAN (3) led when 2nd to Im Themightylucy at his only start since crossing the Tasman and is the best drawn of the main chances. HIGH PRICE (6) defeated a weaker field at his last start and can play a part with the right run in transit. STRENGTH AND HONOUR (7) has won his last four on end but goes up in class and is awkwardly drawn. Tips: 11 3 6 7 Suggested Bet: SMART WATCH (11) to win. Race 2 TALKS UP A STORM (3) crossed from a wide barrier when a close-up 5th in a stronger field at his last start and appeals as the one to beat against this line-up. DOC HOLLIDAY (6) is finding it hard to break through this time in but has been placed in five of his last six starts and should fight out the finish again. MASTER PUBLISHER (5) is back to something like his best and can play a part. PRADASON (2) disappointed at his last start before going for a spell but has the speed to be prominent throughout if anywhere near his best for his return. Tips: 3 6 5 2 Suggested Bet: TALKS UP A STORM (3) to win. Race 3 STAMFORD (1) has been placed in his three starts since resuming from a spell and is ready to lead and give a great sight. THE MUSTANG (4) arrived in WA with a big reputation and was an effortless first-up winner. He is drawn outside his main rival tonight but will be strongly fancied. ATHABASCAN (10) doesn’t have the class of the favoured pair but can be placed from his nice trailing draw. EUPHORIA (12) has been placed in eight of his past ten starts and will be hitting the line hard. Tips: 1 4 10 12 Suggested Bet: STAMFORD (1) to win. Race 4 JUMPINGJACKMAC (1) hasn’t been able to lead since he defeated Chicago Bull back in August but gets his chance tonight and will give a great sight. MAGNIFICENT STORM (9) is the best horse in the race and was impressive first-up but he has a horror draw to overcome and will have to make his own luck. GAMBIT (10) is drawn to get a lovely run on the pegs and will be dangerous if he sees daylight at the right time. HAMPTON BANNER (11) is flying but won’t be able to take up his favoured front-running position tonight. Tips: 1 9 10 11 Suggested Bet: GAMBIT (10) each way. Race 5 WONDERFUL TO FLY (5) is rightfully considered the state’s best filly but the gloss is off after her last two defeats. She would win this if at her best but has to be taken on trust. LITTLE DARLING (2) is racing extremely well and will be hard to catch if she can find the front. IM THE MIGHTYLUCY (12) is flying and defeated a similar field here last week from a back line draw so must be respected. TAKING THE MIKI (1) has battled bad draws at last three starts and can be a big improver from the pole. Tips: 5 2 12 1 Suggested Bet: WONDERFUL TO FLY (5) to win. Race 6 EZANA (4) defeated a similar field first-up before running a strong 3rd from the breeze last start and looks the one to beat. IDEAL AGENT (7) was disappointing when finishing 2nd to EZANA (4) as a $1.24 favourite first-up but will strip fitter tonight. MACHNIFICENT (5) is one-dimensional but is always dangerous if he gets the right cart into the race. DOMINUS FACTUM (1) has the speed to lead and will give them something to chase if he can get away with some soft sectionals. Tips: 4 7 5 1 Suggested Bet: MACHNIFICENT (5) each way. Race 7 RASCAL (1) led throughout in 1.57.3 here four starts back and should lead and prove hard to beat tonight. KIMBLE (2) wasn’t overly impressive when narrowly winning at his WA debut but he arrived in the state with a big reputation and must be respected. FIREROCKFIREROLL (10) showed plenty at his WA debut and will be charging home if he sees daylight at the right time. PONTEVIVO (4) ran on well when 2nd to The Code Breaker here last week but will settle behind the three fancies. Tips: 1 2 10 4 Suggested Bet: RASCAL (1) to win. Race 8 UNCONDITIONAL (2) led throughout to record a comfortable victory here last week and is drawn to repeat the dose. ALCIPPES DELIGHT (10) has been performing well in stronger company but is likely to settle three back on the pegs and will need some luck in the concluding stages. ALL THE BELLS (1) is drawn to trail the favourite and looks a good place chance. SPORTS PACKAGE (6) is a capable mare and can figure in the finish with the right run in transit. Tips: 2 10 1 6 Suggested Bet: UNCONDITIONAL (2) to win. Race 9 ROCK ON TOP (11) has been unplaced at his last five starts but he has been tackling top 3YO company and will appreciate the drop in class tonight. FASTER THAN DAD (10) ran on well to be beaten in a photo by Kimble at his last start and will be charging home if he has any luck from this barrier. LITTLE BITOF FUN (1) did lead throughout to win 1.55.8 at Pinjarra over this distance in June and he would be hard to beat if he could replicate that effort. BELLEZZA NERA (4) was held up when 3rd here last week and can play a part. Tips: 11 10 1 4 Suggested Bet: ROCK ON TOP (11) to win. Race 10 FLY TO FAME (3) was blocked for a run when 5th to SWEET VIVIENNE (6) here last week but has the barrier advantage over her main rivals tonight and can turn the tables. SWEET VIVIENNE (6) defeated a similar field here last week and must be respected but isn’t as well drawn tonight. OUR LADY JEN (4) ran on well to finish 4th in that event and should make her presence felt. QUATTROSE (5) looked to have every chance when 3rd in the same race but she carried a flat tyre and can improve. Tips: 3 6 4 5 Suggested Bet: FLY TO FAME (3) to win. Market Market
