Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview

Race 1

TANAKA EAGLE (1) has been unplaced at his past 13 starts but is a different horse on the pegs. His recent form isn’t anything to write home about but he gets his chance against this line-up. CROCODILE KID (6) has been finishing towards the rear but drops in class here and looks a major player. BOB WHEEL (7) was a solid 4th here last week and is one of the few horses with some strength in this field. MATTJESTIC STAR (3) has been placed in only one of his past 29 starts but trialled fairly recently and can be in the money.

Suggested Bet: TANAKA EAGLE (1) to win.

Race 2

CAPTAIN MANNERING (5) worked his way to the front and beat all but the talented The Buckeye Bullet here last week. He may be able to bully his way to the front again and will give a great sight in that role. A BOY NAMED ROSIE (1) was held up until too late when 4th here a fortnight ago and looks a major player from the pole. PIERRE WHITBY (6) didn’t have much luck here last week and looks a winning chance with the right run. JACK WILLIAM (8) finished 3rd in a stronger field here last week but isn’t as well drawn tonight.

Suggested Bet: CAPTAIN MANNERING (5) to win.

Race 3

BRACKEN SKY (1) is racing extremely well with placings at his past two starts. He led when 3rd here two starts back and has options at the start. MISTER BUSHIDO (11) was a $1.80 favourite at his last start but settled at the rear after breaking and put up a huge effort to finish 2nd and should be right in the finish. BETTORSTARTDREAMING (5) produced his best run in WA when a brave 3rd here last week after facing the breeze and looks a major player. SPACE JUNK (10) is drawn to get a soft run on the pegs and will be thereabouts.

Suggested Bet: BRACKEN SKY (1) to win.

Race 4

ELOQUENT MACH (11) resumed from a spell with an impressive win here last week. This looks slightly harder but he should enjoy a similar run and will be charging home. EXTREME PRINCE (1) led throughout here two starts back over the same trip and should give a great sight again. SERGEANT OATS (10) chased hard when a narrow 2nd to Sir Galahad here last week and is drawn to get the sane trip.  ROCK ME OVER (5) is racing extremely consistently in strong fields and should be thereabouts again.

Suggested Bet: SERGEANT OATS (10) each way.

Race 5

CHICAGO BULL (4) won six on end before facing the breeze and chasing the runaway leader when a narrow 2nd to Shockwave here last week. He isn’t likely to get it all his own way tonight but is still the one to beat. GALACTIC STAR (2) couldn’t make ground in that event but has the barrier advantage tonight and should make his presence felt. VAMPIRO (7) has the gate speed to cross at the start if desired and will give plenty of cheek if near his top. BLETCHLEY PARK (6) is the new kid on the block and can win with some luck in transit.

Suggested Bet: CHICAGO BULL (4) to win.

Race 6

GOLDEN STATE (6) has had a short break since leading when 3rd at this track. He has the gate speed to cross at the start and should give them something to catch. THE BIRD DANCE (8) won three of his last four starts before a break, including a victory over Bletchley Park. He resumes here tonight and is drawn wide but must be respected. TAROONA BROMAC (7) also resumes tonight and has won 12 of his 19 career starts so must be considered. COURAGE TELLS (1) doesn’t have the class of his rivals but can be placed.

Suggested Bet: GOLDEN STATE (6) to win.

Race 7

DELIGHTFULREACTION (7) is in career best form, running on from midfield to win her last two starts. She is drawn awkwardly again but has the turn of foot to make her hard to hold out. ARMA INDIE (8) resumes here after a short break and will give a great sight if near her best. JUST MAKE MINE DIAMONDS (2) has finished just behind the placegetters at her past three starts but should be hard to catch if she can find the front here. HONG KONG DOLLY (4) has won her last four on end and is ready for the rise in class.

Suggested Bet: DELIGHTFULREACTION (7) each way.

Race 8

HENRIK LARSSON (4) has made a big impression in winning his first three race starts. He goes up in class tonight but is drawn inside his main rivals and looks the one to beat. POCKET THE CASH (8) has finished 1st or 2nd at his last eight starts and is capable of overcoming the wide draw. SOHO HAMILTON (9) impressed in winning a recent Byford trial by a big margin and will make his presence felt at his WA debut. MEDIEVAL MAN (5) was a good 2nd at his last start and looks the next best.

Tips: 4 8 9 5

Suggested Bet: HENRIK LARSSON (4) to win.

Race 9

LORD ROSCO (3) has used his blistering gate speed to win his last six on end. He looks a good chance to find the front again and will be hard to catch in that role. JUSTASEC (7), resumed with a comfortable victory to take his record to ten wins from 15 starts. He is drawn poorly here but can’t be overlooked. RAKASINC (1) has led throughout to win his last four starts and will give them something to chase if he can hold the front. SIR GALAHAD (6) was an impressive all-the-way winner at his first run back from a spell but is drawn poorly here.

Tips: 3 7 1 6

Suggested Bet: LORD ROSCO (3) to win.

Race 10

BOOM TIME (6) is racing extremely well and sprinted home powerfully when winning at his last start. His sit-sprint style is suited by the small field and he will be charging home again. BLISSFULLABBEY (1) has been placed at her last three starts following a Pinjarra victory and gets her chance to press for an all-the-way win from the pole. EUPHORIC MOMENT (2) was a solid 2nd here last week and is drawn to be prominent throughout. FLYING MISTER IDEAL (3) ran 5th to BOOM TIME (6) at his last start but is better drawn tonight.

Tips: 6 1 2 3

Suggested Bet: BOOM TIME (6) to win.

Race 11

LETSDANCETONIGHT (5) ran a nice 4th here last Friday before facing the breeze and recording a strong mid-week victory. This doesn’t look a great deal stronger and she is clearly the one to beat. BETTOR BEACH BELLE (3) ran 5th in that same race here last week and looks the obvious danger with her barrier advantage. FOLLOW MY STRIDE (4) ran on well to finish 2nd to LETSDANCETONIGHT (5) on Tuesday and should be thereabouts again. REGAL AURA (8) put up a fair effort at Pinjarra but is drawn poorly tonight.
