The Scout: Women’s World Cup Matchday 4 Posted on July 23, 2023July 23, 2023 | Posted by The Scout Group G – Sweden v South Africa Sweden are expected to ease through Group G, starting with three points in their opener against South Africa. The versatile Fridolina Rolfo is a difference maker for the side and could form an exciting left side partnership with newcomer Anna Sandberg. Captain Caroline Seger will look to add to her 235 caps at the age of 38 having recovered from injury. It is a second successive World Cup appearance for South Africa who will be hoping to go better than 2019 when they lost all three games, scoring once. Forward Thembi Kgatlana is the key player, and they will rely on the pace of Jermaine Seoposenwe, Hildah Magaia, and Noxolo Cesane to catch teams on the counterattack. Sweden to win @ $1.07* Group E – Netherlands v Portugal The Netherlands have improved considerably under coach Andries Jonker who has proven flexible with his tactics. Jill Roord is the standout talent in midfield with 21 goals in 86 caps and is coming off a good season with Wolfsburg before signing for Manchester City. Esmee Brugts is a rising star at 19 years of age who could play a vital role in attack. Portugal include seven players with over 100 caps to their name in the squad and will need all of that know how for their first World Cup campaign. Tatiana Ponto is the standout talent, helping Levante to third place in the Spanish top tier last season. Kika Nazareth is an emerging talent who could play a big role in the starting line-up. Netherlands to win @ $1.50* Group F – France v Jamaica France are seen as a potential winner of the tournament but off field issues and a change of coach disrupted their preparations. Wendi Renard captains the side from defence, Eugenie Le Sommer is still a key figure at the age of 34, and teenager Vicki Becho looms as a potential breakout star. Jamaica striker Khadija “Bunny” Shaw is the country’s all time leading scoring and been in great form for Manchester City. Service to her will be key to the team’s chances of picking up points in the group. The Reggae Girlz will need to sort out some defensive frailties if they are to stand a chance of making it out of the group. WIN France @ $1.05* Multi Sweden to Score in both halves Netherlands to win France v Jamaica – Under 4.5 total goals @ $3.79* *Odds correct as at 9am, 23rd July 2023. Market Market
