TABtouch Punter of the Week Posted on July 19, 2016July 19, 2016 | Posted by TABtouch $20 well spent at Belmont A miserable winter’s day in Perth wasn’t so bad for one punter who turned a lazy $20 into more than $11,000 on the back of a four leg multi at Belmont. It started with worrying signs in Race 2 – our punter’s pick Bombs Away drifting from $8.50 out to $15 before a top ground saving ride from apprentice Randy Tan got the multi off to a winning start. Next up Race 4. William Pike in the cerise and white. On-board the favourite. Not a bad place to be. But there would’ve been a lot of heart in mouth moments moments across the country with Astronomite just getting home. “He had to dig in and find a bit in the late part for The Wizard,” noted Darren McAullay. Mosseratti was the big firmer in the third leg, $12 into $5.50 on fixed odds and as the rain (seriously) came down at Belmont the Cliff Green-trained 4-year-old didn’t disappoint. Apparently his mother was a mudder! It came down to Race 7, by which time the track had been downgraded from a Good 4 to a Heavy 8! The day’s feature race. William Pike on-board the odds on favourite. And The Wizard didn’t disappoint steering Military Reign to a comfortable all the way victory. Not the first and certainly not the last time Pikey has filled some pockets on a Saturday afternoon.
