Matt Young’s Friday Gloucester Park Preview Posted on June 25, 2026June 25, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 CHARIVARI (2) finds a suitable race, not convinced he’s at his absolute best but does do his best work when leading and looks to get that opportunity here, wouldn’t want to be diving in too short but does look hard to run down. POCKET THE CHANGE (1) was a nice effort last time out and has the dream draw and looks a solid place chance. KINKY (12) can watch things unfold and roll around to the breeze, if she can around to the dominant position I think she will be right there in the finish. HOLY HECKA (10) needs a touch of luck from the draw but would have benefitted off that last run given the 2-year hiatus prior to that run. UNDER THE ALTA (6), WHEN IN VEGAS (8) and SHES A TINY DANCER (11) all novelty chances on current form. Tips: 2 12 1 10 Suggested Bet: POCKET THE CHANGE (1) to place. Race 2 SKYLORD (3) is a capable type who gets a favourable draw and looks ready to run a decent race, he can mix his form but likely to be driven forward to try and lead and think he will go well. THELITTLE MASTER (1) gets the good draw, but his early speed is a query, form has been decent but usually sits and kicks. RUMBLE STRIP (9) will be looking to get forward to a controlling position and will run a better race after an unfavourable run last time out. SAIFA (10) is ready to run a big race but requires a touch of luck from the draw. BEYOND THE SEA (4) didn’t have much luck on return, capable mare who should bounce off that well. ALTA ALLURE (5) and FINAL COLLECT (12) both capable but face tricky maps from their respective draws. Tips: 3 1 9 10 Suggested Bet: SKYLORD (3) each way. Race 3 IM LIGHTNING BANNER (1) gets the good draw and has been racing some talented types and think he will be given his chance in this with that early speed, go close. ULTIMATE MIKI (2) is a staying type and likely to want to hold a forward position, holding good consistency with his form. OUR CRUNCH TIME (4) has early speed and might try and get forward, major player if he could lead and was a good effort in free for all ranks last time out. MIKIS PRIDE (12) has plenty of talent and strips fitter, will run on and is a novelty chance with DARK EYES (5), LUCCA (6) and CHIVALRY (9) who all have tricky maps. Tips: 1 4 2 12 Suggested Bet: IM LIGHTNING BANNER (1) to win. Race 4 MUNROES MATE (1) wasn’t all that impressive when winning last time out but in saying that he looked like he just needed to stoke up and was always holding them, this creates another test against much sterner opposition but has the speed to lead. SWEET PINS (4) is in top form and gained a well-deserved win last time out, will be threatening again. HALE SAINT LOUIE (10) missed their backs early last week, it’s concerning to tip him again due to that, but his run and form is full of merit. HOTLY PURSUED (9) can fly out but looks unlikely to be able to cross even with a sling shot, can win if he did lead. WHOS THE DAD (2) is a must for novelties as he will be eyeing up the peg line early. PETES HONOUR (6) and YOURE SO FINE (12) both novelty chances. Tips: 4 1 10 9 Suggested Bet: HALE SAINT LOUIE (10) to place. Race 5 Open race here. Plenty of speed early with OFFICIAL ROCK (2) who will want a forward position to be close enough. RAKLOU (3) needs the peg line but is mixing form. POPPYONTHEBEACH (4) has decent speed and will look to cross with UP AND ALIVE (5) and both are strong chances with potential to lead. EASTBRO CHRISSY (8) is suited here and has impressed with all runs in the West, SWEET COCO (7) is the drive Gary Hall Jnr went with, horse was super over the mile at Pinjarra but has tricks which is why Junior may have elected to drive. RUBY LOVERA (12) will be running on well and could get into a handy position with WAVE REBELLION (10) who has proven she is up to these, she just needs a genuine tempo which could happen. STARLIGHT DREAM (6) in the same boat. DELULU (9) suited back to mares’ grade but draws her usual position of the river. If you’re confused, so am I, play the value. Tips: 12 8 5 10 Suggested Bet: RUBY LOVERA (12) each way. Race 6 SPITFIRE (6) comes in fresh but was racing some talented types before the freshen up and performing well, looks a major player in this and can get fired up, likely heads forward and looks to control. DOURADO (4) looks the early leader but will have questions asked as he is first up and could have a headache if he holds the top. ARISTA (7) is in good form but rises in grade further from a challenging draw. MINOR CATASTROPHE (1) racing well and loves the soft draws, my concern for her is if they run genuine overall it could find her out. SOHO THE REAL DEAL (12) will be running on from the back with other novelty chances to MANHATTAN MOON (8) and CEE DEE THREE (9) Tips: 6 4 12 1 Suggested Bet: SPITFIRE (6) to win. Race 7 STORMY VISTA (3) can win this but overall, he is a hard horse to follow because he is lacklustre in the run, can run good times but looks lethargic and could be short here, will be hard to run down as he is expected to lead but I will be looking for value. TWOBOB CRACKER (2) is racing well and can jump early and potentially be leaders back and could be dangerous at value. LUVBITE (9) is flying, will be thundering home again and no reason he cannot win again. MEDIEVAL MAN (7) is also flying and will want to get into a forward position and can apply the pressure. A LITTLE SILENCE (6) is consistent and likely to be somewhere in the money again. MAXIMUM ROCK (8) is capable with a safe beginning and ALTA TRIBUTE (12) is in the same boat. BLAZING REACTOR (9) a novelty chance. Tips: 2 3 9 7 Suggested Bet: TWOBOB CRACKER (2) each way. Race 8 Open race. SOHO CONFIDENTIAL (2) is a likely improver in this, looks to get past the pole marker and think he can hold the outside runners, from there must be respected. STATE MY CASE (7) did too much last time out and is better suited this grade but always requires a touch of luck. MISS UNEEK (6) is capable and has some early dash, looks likely to get forward. ERA (12) will be running on, don’t think he’s far off surprising and just needs to be saved up as late as possible. BALTIC ACE (3) is nearing his better form and is a chance along with PINNY NOIR (8), BLUE BLAZER (9) and KINSAABI (4). Tips: 2 7 12 6 Suggested Bet: STATE MY CASE (7) each way. Race 9 Many chances here. CATCH THE RED EYE (3) races well fresh and could aim up for the top and would be hard to run down from that position, there is a bit unknown to her going into this. JAXON MORGAN (8) faces a challenging draw but is racing well, he is ready to win but it’s a tricky map. ME FLASH (9) dominated last time out and will look to get forward and if he gets to the breeze, he could try and do the same. MAJOR BUZZ (1) has won well in the two runs for Michael Young but steps up in grade noticeably and can be hit and miss off the arm. JAMIE KIM (2) was solid two starts ago and his best is good enough for this. IDEAL INTEREST (7) racing well but faces a tricky draw with plenty of speed to his inside. IL BANDITO (10) and MADDY ROCKS (12) both run-on types with the latter holding stronger winning claims. Tips: 3 8 9 2 Suggested Bet: CATCH THE RED EYE (3) each way. Race 10 MANUKA BAY (2) looks to have good ability and faces a good challenge in this, looks to have the speed to lead and bumps into some nice ones but will be hard to run down. LINCOLN LOVER (5) looks sharp and the trial was good, first run in the west and expect him to run a big race here. BETTER TOGETHER (1) is racing soundly and has a nice draw, shouldn’t be too far away in any scenario and can feature. A PRECIOUS GEM (3) rises in grade but looks to have ability. SOME LINE (6), TRIXIE DORA (8) and BROOME BEACH (9) all have talent but their draws look tough as opposed to the fancied runners. Tips: 2 5 1 6 Suggested Bet: MANUKA BAY/LINCOLN LOVER (5) to Quinella Market Market
