Shortte’s Handful for Cannington Posted on July 15, 2016July 21, 2016 | Posted by David Shortte David Shortte’s Preview Race 3 No. 5 SINGLE STICKA Very talented sprinter who has won 6 of his 8 starts at this venue and owns the 520 metre track record. Had no luck last week in the Lew Dorsa final when unplaced after a slow getaway but that was against the hottest of company here in WA and with the drop in grade should return to winning form. Came from this draw 2 back when setting the new record of 29.74 and with a performance anywhere near that will be taking care of business in this. Has a great habit of winning. Race 7 No. 1 FRANCE SOIR Promising type who overcame all sorts of strife last start when checked throughout but still proved too strong charging to the line to win over the 520 metres in 30.24. Had the cherry draw three starts ago when an impressive 30.14 winner and gives the impression that this 600 metre trip will be right up his alley. The kennelmate Quartz Bale was a strong winner last week and looms as the logical danger but with the aid of box one I will stick with France Soir to prevail. Race 11 No. 6 DUBLINER Emerging star over the longer trips who is fast becoming a real favourite of mine. Has won her last 3 starts over this trip in grand style and has accounted for these sorts of fields in comfortable fashion in recent times. Has the early pace to zoom to the top and once in the role of pilot she is generally very hard to get past. Her career record of 30 starts for 18 wins and 6 placings speaks for itself and with normal racing luck she will be winning again.
