RACE 1 

ROYAL TORONADO went from a Northam maiden win straight into a 3 year old Plate and was backed into favourite ahead of highly impressive debutant Twain’s Angel. She was simply too sharp for him over the 1300m and he races like he’ll get ground. Great placement against the older horses in a C3 with only 55.5kg. GOD’S GARDEN got herself out of a traffic jam on straightening last week before Bucket’s Ridge got the run through to nab her on the post. She’s flying. ELDORADO RIVER drops back into a far more suitable race. VEVINSKY can roll to the top on a hot day and control.

RACE 2

DANCE BOSS impressed at trials when looking to have plenty on offer without much room to move. On debut got back and wound up nicely and should only improve for the outing. Handy little maiden this but looks one of the main players. SECRET STYLE has that characteristic big white face of a Justify and considering she chased hard on debut in a fast run race behind free rolling leader Dodge ‘Em she’ll be naturally popular in betting. FOXY RASCAL has shown enough in his two Lark Hill trials to suggest he’ll more than measure up on debut. Really tested in the most recent trial but kept coming. IDENTIFIER is still yet to get out from last Wednesday.

RACE 3

DIALLING is drawn a lemon but it’s hard to ignore this 3 year old Plate runner-up performance behind Lord Lala beating home Augment. Looks to be a nice 3 deep line building here and if he gets the right run into it he looks as good as any of them. HUGHBERT comes through the fastest trial of the day at Lark Hill at that particular meeting when splitting Sunlit Fresco and Black Sands. Sunlit Fresco was good enough last week in a high rating 3 year old 0MWLY behind All Play to suggest that he’s worth consideration at big odds. ARCADIA KNIGHT was three deep for the majority last week but only ground late. INFLUENCING needs the distance.

RACE 4

CHARLIE JANE is attempting to become one of a very small percentage of horses in WA who win a maiden and then a C1 at their next outing. Love the way she dug deep to get over Bolta and Made In Mexico first-up after doing it tough throughout from barrier 10 of 11. Was a gritty win, was in sharp time and considering the volume of support that came for Bolta (unsuccessfully) in a 60+ Graduation at Belmont on Saturday we’ll trust the eye and the clock and suggest she’s hard to beat in this. BLUE LAGOON looks the danger and he’s a maiden still. Carries 1.5kg more than her but his two runs back have both been excellent. HIGHEST AWARD will get back and run home. SAINT EADIE tries hard.

RACE 5

WANGO AWARD has been the target of big money at all three runs in WA. Went close last start and gets the gun run leader’s back with a cutaway. Divine Flirt should take her right into the home straight and then she’s presented with a great run through. MALKAR PINDARI was visually exception last Wednesday at Belmont when the blinkers went on. Now that she’s finally broken through and got some confidence she should be able to go on with it. Just a minor query that the horses she gunned down were stopping as fast as she was coming. MISS AVA comes back to 1400 after looming the winner last start at a mile. DIVINE FLIRT is a model of consistency and will take Wango Award into the home straight.

RACE 6

ROCKIN’ RUPERT has proven a hard horse to catch since his impressive start to his career. First-up put in a blinder when finishing second behind Duchess Of Gossip in a 66+ and then second-up was only fair when beaten 3.2L by Berebere and subsequent winner Celebrity Prince. Needs to turn the tables on Cross Statement but with the cutaway he should get a run through them somewhere in the home straight. Winnable. CROSS STATEMENT can sit leader’s back on the stablemate Famous Jurney and enjoy a soft run. FAMOUS JURNEY is a model of consistency but he’s right on his mark. GAGE ROADS is no world beater and is drawn a little tricky.

RACE 7

PROPORTRAIT was solid last week behind Zaza Rock in a race which produced effortless Toodyay Cup plunge winner Dun With The Blues. Went around 40-1 but was only beaten 2.5L and 7 days later drops from a 54+ back into a C1. This is an average line-up and if he is going to win a staying race this is a great chance. LORD RANDOLPH has blinkers coming off, is backing up and has W.Pike going on. There’s a few ticks there but he was gone a long, long way out last Wednesday. ARROW SONG didn’t get the run she needed last start when shuffled back at a crucial stage. LUKE’S PIERRO is racing like he needs another lap.
