Scott Embry’s Thursday Bunbury Preview Posted on December 19, 2023December 20, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FIOREYES stepped out to 2000m last start and really rolled them along. First 1400m was run 13L faster than average and then they were all out on their feet with the last 600 run 10L slower than average. He’ll pinch a staying maiden like this with that kind of racing pattern. If Flash Paddy wins the 50+ at Ascot on Wednesday it will appear the obvious form reference. ALNAUD covered some ground at stages in that same event and kept coming to the line. He’s another who can park up on speed and keep whacking away. GARMAN took on the better credentialled (marginally…) horses at Albany last start in a ratings race. Back into a maiden more suitable. REWARDING ARTIE was a good run last start and it would appear that Michael Poy has elected to stick with him ahead of Garman? Numbers: 2 – 6 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – FIOREYES WIN RACE 2 PLATINUM SHOT ran second to Live To Tell in a Listed Supremacy Stakes as a 2 year old filly. No doubt Ben & Dan Pearce as well as the connections would have expected their horse to win a maiden by now but alas they’re still trying. This looks a really good opportunity for her to open her account off the back of a solid Lark Hill trial win over 950m. Probably would have preferred 1000 but she’ll be there for a long way. PIRATES ALLEY has trialled well for his debut under a junior rider. Drawn to get a lovely run on debut and takes holding out. PLAY DICE trialled super, had no luck on debut and then raced 6 weeks between runs when third behind a nice one in Justabittapress. MY JIMMY improves round a bend. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – PLATINUM SHOT WIN RACE 3 TORPEDOMAN has been costly to punters throughout his career but he looks to have returned in really good order. His trial win was excellent at Belmont Park and his first-up run behind a very nice horse in Hostile Talk was encouraging. He’s again drawn wide but there’s a level of versatility about him and he’s got more than sufficient speed to burn across if they so elect. Will divide opinions but does have ability. HIT THE JACKPOT ran second to Never The Twain in a 3 year old midweeker at the back end of his first preparation. Solid form for this. MAKE MINE SUPER has shown glimpses from time to time. ROMMELS GODDESS has the inside barrier to use to her advantage. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – TORPEDOMAN WIN RACE 4 PROPHET AND POWER is in the unique situation of returning to a maiden. He lead and won a Pinjarra maiden over 2000m last preparation but has since been DQ’d. Only two starts later in a 1650m C1 he finished second to Kisses From Kelly. Recent trials have been in 0 – 71 trials but he’s now eligible to return to a maiden. Logically hard to beat. MORE THAN ENUFF and GALILEA both found the line nicely last start when ridden cold. Expect from their wide gates that they probably both settle off speed again and rattle home. IFFUBLUSH lost the rider first-up. Form when last in work was consistent. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – PROPHET AND POWER WIN RACE 5 SPEAK TO ME (and anything out of the race behind Autumn Rebel) are going to be popular with punters. That race was a C3 and it was run 10.5L faster than average. It was a race that had depth on paper and now that they’ve clocked that sort of time we’ll be backing anything and everything out of that race regardless of beaten margin. SPEAK TO ME was only 4L off the winner and comes back into a C1. PLAYING QUEST was beaten fair and square by Rocking The Casbah last start. Damian Lane riding on a Thursday at Bunbury is a big indicator that she’s the danger. FELLAFROMDOWNUNDER got over them late for an impressive maiden win. SO TIME is still a maiden but racing well. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – SPEAK TO ME WIN RACE 6 MANAVENDRA went around in a 66+ 1400 last start behind Yonga Lass and subsequent winners Count The Sessions and Demolish. That form speaks for itself and he now gets out to trip to suit and back in grade to suit. Great use of the Luke Campbell 1.5kg claim and looks a really nice assignment for him to break through this campaign. VALLEY OF QUEENS and COMEALILBITCLOSER both come through the Autumn Rebel race and while they’re both up in grade and were beaten out of sight we’re fully committing to that as a form race. DISTRUSTFUL AWARD really got to the line nicely at his WA debut. Plenty of wins to come for him. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet – MANAVENDRA WIN RACE 7 BONNIE LAD steps out to 1200m but you’d think he’ll have no troubles with the six furlongs? Won a C3 1000 by over 1L four starts back and since then has been beaten 3.5L at the hands of Hang Glider, 4L by Stormchaser (subsequent winner), Bayezid (subsequent winner) and Snippenova (subsequent winner) before running third to Devine Belief (subsequent winner) in another Saturday race. Right placement and like the fact they’ve left CJP on. CERRIDWYN is one of two Michael Lane – Damian Lane pairings for the meeting. Very wary and probably expecting at least one to come out and win. Just not sure whether it’s Cerridwyn or Playing Quest. ZING TO WIN an improver leading again. IMPOSING BROOK going well in weaker. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet – BONNIE LAD WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,5,6,7 3,4 2,3,9,10 1,2,9 Market Market
