Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on October 15, 2022October 15, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MR KOHANA has had three starts for Freddo Brown’s stable and has improved at each and every one of them. Fourth behind Ruling Dame and Red Hot Goods, third behind No Whispering and Hidden Ruby and then third behind Mack Mack and Pick and Pay. Looks the weakest maiden that he has seen to date and gets his chance. COMPAK has been beaten margins of recent times, but in races which have 10L more depth than this. DURATIME hasn’t quite produced the runs at the races that he produced at the trials. THE FAV an improver with the powerful Gary Bowen yard. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – MR KOHANA WIN RACE 2 TURBO POWER has come back to grass racing in impeccable form. Ran second in the Pearl Classic behind Powerful (also made the form look great on Cup Day) and then since has finished third behind Nurhaci and Mexi Cola after leading and fading and then was a big 72+ winner on Cup Day when holding out Double Spice and a luckless Excellent Dream. Looks winnable again but the weight catches up with him quickly. NURHACI beat him home two starts ago and with the Luke Campbell claim is more than in this. MAGNIFORCE can always improve in races where he finds the fence. Not sure he crosses Turbo Power but likely tries. WHIM CREEK copped a handicap whack for winning the Leonora Sprint. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – TURBO POWER WIN RACE 3 WESTERN RHYTHM has been a hard mare to catch over the years (now a 19 start C1 galloper) but she clearly has a level of ability. Finished fourth to Dream Evil, Critical Altitude and Oceanic Rider at her last outing over 1200m at the end of her previous preparation. Resumed without a trial at 1300 when beaten by Eevalina and No Whispering by over 7L but got along way back in a race dominated close handy to the speed. Won’t see a weaker C2 1300 than this. Now or never for her. PETITE LA FEMME ran second to Pedal Power two starts ago. That looks like super form for this. Just have to take a mare who has won 1 from 45 with caution. YAMATAI hasn’t raced with much luck. SPRING TO LIFE can roll to the top. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – WESTERN RHYTHM WIN RACE 4 BILL THE BEE finished third to Magic Will Reign and Makfly when sustaining a long run over 1760 before being beaten on the post by Recalled on Hannans Day. Recalled didn’t set the world on fire at Ascot on Wednesday but for this 58+ 1600 it looks as good a form reference as any. Consistent type and deserves to break through. GLUTEN FREE has been there abouts for 18 months but just seems to find one or two better on each occasion. Likely to go round eachway and always runs an eachway race. BAILEYS was a strong winner on Cup Day and this is no harder. MAGIC WILL REIGN is clearly going well and won well under Angela Johnston two starts ago. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – BILL THE BEE WIN RACE 5 LATHAM’S WISH was a strong maiden winner over 1600m and then took a big step into a C2 1760 when flashing home for second behind City Star with 60kg. Watching the replay again and again it’s hard not to suggest that if he gets out on straightening he probably wins that race. Drops 1.5kg on that effort after the Corver claim and like stablemate Pedal Power has clearly hit a purple patch. Hard to beat off the last start effort. MACK MACK is the lightly raced horse on the rise in the race. Big maiden win last start. FRANKIE BLUE EYES has been screaming out for distance and gets that here. IT’S A LANCE went close three starts ago. Only moderate since. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – LATHAM’S WISH WIN RACE 6 NO WHISPERING finished third at Belmont in a 3 year old 0MWLY behind Azena and Major Max (subsequent 3yo 0MWLY winner) and then romped in a maiden winning by over 2.5L. Was only gunned down late in a C2 1300 by Eevalina and with the claim and a few minor gear changes should go close to leading and winning this event. 1300 back to 1100m an added bonus. BASIL’S DREAM gets back but has a powerful burst of speed in her arsenal. SPINALONG TIME comes into this fresh and can jump and run. MAIDMY WAY was a big maiden winner at her first start for Rickie Brown. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – NO WHISPERING WIN RACE 7 FAIR JUSTICE has put the writing on the wall at her last two outings. Finished third to Prince of Promises and Blazing Tycoon in a 58+ when racing wide from a fair way out and then finished second to Prize Pursuit (beating home Love Drunk Baby in the process) on Cup Day. Both Prize Pursuit and Halatorion race on Saturday at Ascot so the form is on display and she’s likely to go round a bigger price than Love Drunk Baby. Gets her opportunity. LOVE DRUNK BABY should nearly roll to the top here. From there he’s hard to run down. JAKESTAR is back into a 58+ and after the claim is in with a more than winnable weight. BOLSHOI GAL is racing well. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – FAIR JUSTICE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,6,7 1,2,4 4 1,4,7 Market Market
