Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on July 2, 2022July 3, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 PLAYTHATFUNKYMUSIC found the front as expected on debut and gave a kick. The favourite in that race Sunday Sinner was always going to be mighty hard to beat and 2 year old debutante Playthatfunkymusic was always going to be better for the experience. Can jump and run again and takes running down. DARE ME is another who will attempt to jump and run. Think they’re both quick but both vulnerable late at 1100m. Whoever has to breeze or box seat is possibly in a bit of trouble. Fireworks early. ROTATION is having her WA debut and Brock Lewthwaite is training a lot of winners at the moment. Respect. AMERICAN SIOUX next best. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – PLAYTHATFUNKYMUSIC WIN RACE 2 MANITOBA continues the trend of 2 year olds taking on the older horses in all age maidens with Playthatfunkymusic and Dare Me likely to go round popular in race 1 and Manitoba getting the nod in race 2. Big improver first-up to second-up and looks hard to beat in the Olive Thompson Memorial maiden. Should land a similar position in running and looks to be improving. CHANG MAN can be hit and miss but when he puts it all together and gets things go his way he’s pretty handy for a maiden. A TOUCHY SUBJECT is becoming a testing horse to follow. Has ability but can do things wrong and find bad luck. FEUDING makes his Nick Carapellotti debut and he has shown the ability to improve tried horses. Numbers: 10 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – MANTIOBA WIN RACE 3 IMPERIALISM was huge first-up, in the wrong grade of race and at the wrong distance second-up and was back to his best last start when finishing second half a length off Bolshoi Gal. Drawn tricky but seems to go best when ridden cold and provided they can make some ground looks to have found another winnable race. TALK IT UP has returned below expectations so far this preparation. The barrier should give him every chance to show what he has to offer. SATURDAY SINNER broke through last start and see no reason why he can’t go on with it. BRONCKS is flying. He just needs so much luck with his racing pattern. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – IMPERIALISM WIN RACE 4 HILTON is the kind of horse who should be winning three straight in Kalgoorlie. Taken to Kal and left in the region by Darren McAuliffe and lobbed straight into the white hot stable of rookie trainer Nick Thomas. Drawn a perfect gate, 3kg claim of Luke Campbell in the country won’t last longer than a month or two and he is versatile. Impossible to look past on current form. Wonder if there will ever be a JR Young Memorial #dreaming. JAKESTAR is hit and miss but he’s also real X-Factor in the race. If he gets a run through them from barrier 1 he has the turn of foot to win a 70+ let alone a 58+. WINSALOT looked home halfway up the straight. Should be fun for Helen Harding but a fresh win would have been nice. LOVE DRUNK BABY is capable of winning plenty more in Kal. Good form race this. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – HILTON WIN RACE 5 SO LIKEABLE was blisteringly good last start. Always tough to line up C2 form but when you see the figures out of the race you need to take a second look. The first 1000m was run 11L faster than C2 average and the last 600m was still run another 4L faster than average. Could this be a horse who is ready to go through the grades? 62kg is a leveller but he’ll still be popular with times punters. KEEP YOUR FEET comes through the same race and stuck on well. HEAR ME was solid at his first start outside maiden company. DEEP ENCOUNTER will only improve out over further. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – SO LIKEABLE WIN RACE 6 BILL THE BEE won a 58+ two starts ago beating Meet Joe Black and Another Demon. Last start he got a long way back from a wide gate when charging to the line behind Kentucky love, Beaucount and Meet Joe Black. Think this is a nice race for him, he proved last start that the mile isn’t an issue and Keshaw rode him perfectly two starts ago. SHOOT YOUR SHOT was extremely popular in betting at his WA debut. Opened $7 and jumped $3.80. In the run the only horse you wanted to be on was Town Hall but thought with 61kg and on the fresh side a couple of months between outings he was good. MAGIC OF ZEUS takes a big step in grade but gets in on the minimum. DALGARANGA next best but hard to catch. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – BILL THE BEE WIN RACE 7 LITTLE SES is always a popular mare in this preview. She hasn’t run a bad race since lobbing in Kalgoorlie, she nearly always goes round at a half decent price, she’s versatile and she has a turn of foot. Lisa Staples not riding is interesting but you lose nothing with Laqdar Ramoly who is showing that he will make it as a senior with ease. KAKADU has had a great preparation to date and everything from the Gary Bowen yard has been racing well. Drawn a gate to get the right run and the combination have been on fire all season. THERE’S A CHANCE couldn’t find the fence last start and looked a bit lost in the breeze. Expecting him to be ridden with aggression. FINGERMARK loomed the winner first-up without a trial. John Mason without Laqdar Ramoly is like going to the Gold Bar sober. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – LITTLE SES EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2 1 3,4 1,3,4,5,6,7,9,10 Market Market
