Scott Embry’s Saturday Geraldton Preview Posted on March 6, 2025March 6, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ARTERRE was eye-catching last start at Geraldton over 1200m. He’s out to a mile but probably has the speed to lead this event and if that’s the case then he could be a big improver with the claim. BLACK SANDS continues to make good ground from the back of the field but simply leaves himself too much to do. Would love to see him jump and put himself two pairs closer in the run because he’s going well enough to win one of these maidens. BLOW BACK is first-up at a mile. Big ask. BLATANT DISARRAY was good two back. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – ARTERRE WIN RACE 2 QUEEN TIFFANY won a C1 1100 beating Live Lucky, won a 58+ 1100 beating subsequent 70+ winner Sauvegarde and then last week finished 3.5L off Gold Keeper after being caught wide throughout. Back in distance, Austin Galati on and strikes a very weak line-up. Looks her race. AROOCHACHA is an enigma but when he turns up at his best he’s more than capable. IRONCLAD BOY is going brilliantly. Back to 1100m the query, but he did beat Mocha Dream over 1200 three back. FIRST CONTACT next best at big odds. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – QUEEN TIFFANY WIN RACE 3 MASTER ALEX finished second to On The Mark last time out and that form is only going to look stronger and stronger each time that galloper steps out. His last win was a 58+ 14—when he parked in the breeze and this looks a great chance for him to come out position and land in that exact position. ARCHER COUNTY has mainly dirt form but fresh without a trial can give some cheek. BE SEATED put in his best run of the prep last weekend. STEVIE’S MAY can settle closer in a smaller field. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – MASTER ALEX WIN RACE 4 AWESOME LILY was Lot 154 in the Inglis Online sale which closed on February 26th and was sold to new owner Barry Evans for $12,000 and she’s a big chance of earning a decent cheque here. Fantaxtic beat her by 2.3L on debut and that galloper goes around in a C1 at Pinjarra on Thursday. IL BELLO BEALS has had a freshen and looks the main danger. REMEMBER WHEN and LEONARDO DA GREY went to the line locked together in their recent Geraldton barrier trial. Numbers: 11 – 2 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – AWESOME LILY WIN RACE 5 LIBERTY DAME went around favourite last weekend and finished third behind Undercover Sniper and And Then What but covered plenty of additional ground and was solid in defeat. She’s again drawn wide but if Simone Altieri can find a back to follow, she’ll be hard to hold out late. AND THEN WHAT beat her home last week and again draws to get a better run in transit. Likely to fight it out together again. FINANCE LEGEND is 1600 back to 1200. Could well be a good thing. NEFERTITI wasn’t too bad in the Undercover sniper race. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 8 – 11 Suggested Bet – LIBERTY DAME WIN RACE 6 BUTTERFLYROCK could well be Geraldton Cup bound. She has won three of her last four and is going from strength to strength. Dropping to 54.5kg looks a luxury for her. BOMBAY STYLE found a rare 64+ last weekend and took full advantage when able to lead and hold them off late. Steps out to 1925m and he has run third previously at the distance. Been a brilliant horse for the Martins over many a season. HARD QUESTIONS was given a freshen after the Walkaway Cup as he also aims up at the big one. HONORFIC has lost the sprint in his legs. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – BUTTERFLYROCK WIN RACE 7 BOLTA steps out to 1400m which is an unknown for him, but from barrier 1, with Austin Galati and off the back of a confidence boosting win in this grade last time out you’d be a brave punter to suggest he can’t win. THE SLAP finished second in the same race and was over a month between outings. Has been a consistent type since arriving in the West. SPECIAL PLAN hasn’t been seen for 83 days since winning back to back races. STAY ASTERN won this track/distance/grade two back. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – BOLTA WIN Market Market
