Scott Embry’s Saturday Broome Preview Posted on June 17, 2022June 17, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 CITY REGAL was an impressive first-up winner at Broome on his first start on the dirt. He was able to find the front from barrier 4, was ridden with great confidence by Simone Altieri and never looked like being run down. He beat Danehill Storm that day by 2.6L and only meets him 2kg worse at the weights. See no reason why he can’t win again. ISOLA BAY got many a Broome Punter off to a flyer this season with a strong with after a 12/10 ride from then 4kg claimer Luke Campbell. No doubt will again look to kick up from barrier 1 and either hold City Regal or pop to the breeze if crossed. Logical danger. DANEHILL STORM might end up posted from the wide gate. MOET DE VEGA is well placed in this grade but might find 1000m on the sharp side. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – CITY REGAL WIN RACE 2 TESTIFYING was caught wide throughout at her Broome debut and thought she did a good job to keep battling on down the home straight. While she’s drawn in the cheap seats again there’s far less speed in this and if she can safely get across to the breeze, she’ll be hard to reel in. CONTENTO BOY was a solid effort at his first start on the dirt. Got going late in the race and attacked the line in an encouraging performance. GOLD FRIARS is going to continue to tease replay punters. His first-up run in a C2 1200 was excellent from a mile off them, his second-up run in a C2 1435 was excellent from a mile off them. Back into maiden grade a massive tick but he just won’t go early. TUFFATTHETOFF has been going well since joining Yannick Valenti. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – TESTIFYING WIN RACE 3 KENTUCKY DREAM has put the writing on the wall at two runs in this campaign. First-up enormous in a C2 1200 when sustaining a run from a long way out, backed up off 7 days and showed it was no fluke when hard in betting and getting spat out the back before rattling to the line through the field to finish second. Step up to a mile suits (placed twice at a mile in NSW) and he just needs to leave on level terms with them to be awfully hard to beat. Looks his race. KARAOKE EXPRESS and TRIGGERFISH gave Shorty Farrell a stable trifecta and they’re both closing in on another win. DYNAMITE ALF worth having something small on if he goes round 30-1+. Actually a good run last start. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – KENTUCKY DREAM WIN RACE 4 IN THE BAG was first-up 1435 and travelled the winner throughout before getting right away from them late in the race. He won by over 3L and meets a similar field here. Only rises 1kg, is arguably better suited at 1600 than he was at 1435, Jess Grey has ridden him to his last three victories and he should bounce straight on the lead. Looks very hard to run down again. KORANIS comes out of a 70+ where he was caught deep and chasing. He can find his feet here and position up outside of In The Bag. Big improver. SURF POINT will pinch a race at Broome this season. He gets back which means he’ll have to start his run a long way out but he got through the going well at his dirt debut. LUKE’S CHOICE is as honest and consistent as they come. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – IN THE BAG WIN RACE 5 CHARLETON EDDIE had his first start in Broome and settled one out, one back. Many punters will probably look at the run and think he was plain but I’m happy to follow up on him because he proved that he’ll cop some kickback and that he can gallop on the dirt. Drops 3kg with Luke Campbell’s claim, gets out to 1300m and can slide across with Molten to sit over the top of the speed. PIT TO WIN produced the highest rating win of the season to date at his return and gets in with no weight at all. STEVIE’S WONDER is two from two at Broome. These might be on the sharper side for him but he’s got X-Factor. DANCE COCKEY has returned in great order. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet – CHARLETON EDDIE WIN RACE 6 GUARDED was able to jump, lead, control, kick and win at his first start in Broome in a C1 1200. Don’t think this C2 1200 is much deeper and he drops 2kg in weight. After the claim he carries less than maiden winner Warpipes and is drawn to lead them. Should be right in the finish again. ADVOCATOR was good fresh and then fair second-up. Think that Casino War form will prove pretty handy. HE’S ON FIRE will improve sharply for the run and the experience. WARPIPES broke his maiden well. Numbers: 4 – 11 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet: GUARDED WIN Race 7 MARZIPAN LAD was good to Broome punters at his first start in the region when sustaining a run down the home straight and fighting them off to record a gritty win. Considering he split Otheroneson and River Rubicon in a 3 year old 1400 at Ascot the step up in trip should suit him and he drops 1.5kg on his first Broome success. Bonnie Palise rides the ‘home track’ beautifully and he should be hard to beat again. SHEIKH IT and YANKEE LIMA both have their first starts in Broome and both have legitimate winning claims if they handle the dirt. BART’S BULLET looked a special last meeting and won by 5L. This is harder and the barrier hurts but he’ll come out running and look for a spot. This should be a good form race going forward. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 9 – 10 Suggested Bet – MARZIPAN LAD WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,4 1,3,4,5,8,9 1,4,11 1,2,4,7,8,9,10,11,12,(13) Market Market
