Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on September 2, 2022September 2, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 CASH AWAY gets a wonderful opportunity to win another race early in his promising sprinting career. Still has a bit to learn but showed great versatility last week when breezing up outside of State Of Power. Regular rider Clint Johnston-Porter goes back on, Misty Bazeley makes a minor gear adjustment swapping visors for blinkers and he is drawn a gate to park behind Ponyo and Night’s Mystery. Nice race for him. REAL GRACE will be a polarising mare in this field. Hasn’t been seen since July of 2021 (413 days) but has been tuned up for her return to racing with two nice soft trials. Has a turn of foot. GHOST WHO WALKS comes through the same races as Cash Away and gets in with a winnable weight after the claim. ATHLONE CASTLE is going super. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – CASH AWAY WIN RACE 2 STRIKE NOW and LET’S GALAHVANT both come through the hot Alsesphina form reference race (already produced Titian Queen for victory) and both were equally good runs. STRIKE NOW was resuming at what looked an unsuitable 1200m but showed that he’s going to be a genuine Saturday horse this preparation. Thinking that with an extra 100m that STRIKE NOW can go one better and break through second-up. Never missed the top 2 in six career outings and can track up behind Astro Warrior, Let’s Galahvant and Ain’t No Other man. LET’S GALAHVANT can lead or box seat and is hard to run down. AIN’T NO OTHER MAN like most 4 year olds is well suited in this grade. ASTRO WARRIOR works across and sits on speed. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – STRIKE NOW WIN RACE 3 ALSEPINA is a lightly raced mare with huge upside and natural ability. She’ll be extremely popular throughout betting and the only real cause for concern is the fact she’s drawn barrier 8 of 9 and likely has to settle near enough to last. She’s more than capable of rounding them up from there but it’s a question of whether you’re prepared to take even money about a horse who concedes all her main dangers a head start. Expecting her to gun them down but risk vs reward. NO CHANGE will park up on the speed and Paul Harvey is hard to run down when he’s able to control and dictate. KENDEL’S MEE DAD is really well placed back into a 60+ Graduation. THE GREAT HOYA is going well and gets big weight relief down to 54kg. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – ALSEPHINA WIN RACE 4 QUEEN OF SOUL has always shown that she would make into a nice mare in time. Simon Miller and connections have been patient with her and this could be the preparation where she goes through the grades. Loved her recent trial without blinkers and thinking that with Dance Cockey, Puli and Titan Blinders likely to roll them along throughout that Pat Carbery and Queen Of Soul can track up midfield with cover and let loose late. UNIVERSAL PLEASURE looks the map horse and has form around Queen of Soul from last preparation. Not much between them and Universal Pleasure’s first-up win defied a huge betting drift and was against the pattern. Hard to fault. REGAL MAGIC is flying. She always needs an ounce of luck in her races with her racing pattern. PROBITY can bounce back. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – QUEEN OF SOUL WIN RACE 5 ALLEZ ALLEZ has come back to racing in career best form. The first-up run was a ripper when finishing fourth behind Phanta and Multinational. Second-up reproduced the effort when narrowly defeated behind Zero Demerits. Hits a mile third-up and is drawn a gate to get a lovely run in transit. Vern Brockman’s team going well, Stevie Parnham riding well and eachway on offer. LET’SDEAL attacked all the 3 year old features when last in work but now as a 4 year old can go through his grades and string a few together. Big win first-up sustaining a run from a long way out. CASTILLO DEL LAGO likely rolls to the top and gets in nicely at the weights. CATALPA can box seat and enjoy a soft run. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – ALLEZ ALLEZ EACHWAY RACE 6 GENERAL GRANT was super first-up. He struck a Soft7, at a mile, carrying 62kg and was in a race where in form rolling front runner Run D’Affair Run had them chasing throughout. Never gave it away, pulled late ground off the leader and ran through the line. Steps straight up to a staying trip, gets 3kg weight relief and can track into the race three back the fence. Brad Parnham rides him well and he’s a genuine eachway chance. BLACKWATER BAY was hit and miss in Broome. His best measures up here and he can join the three deep train from the 600. CRESCENT CITY continues to get plunged in betting. Should get every chance again. AXEL ‘R’ EIGHT an improver at odds. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 5 – 13 Suggested Bet – GENERAL GRANT EACHWAY RACE 7 COMES A TIME resumed with a gritty win on a rain affected track. He’s the kind of horse who loves high speed, high pressure racing and the faster they go the better it is for him. With Nowhiteflag, Mervyn, Spin The Knife, Long Beach and Gemma’s Son all capable of going quick and looking for early positions expecting that Comes A Time and CJP will track up in behind them into a prominent position and from there he can measure up in this grade. NOWHITEFLAG has won six races in his life. All when leading. Do they try and hold out Merv? LONG BEACH can improve sharply on a less rain affected surface. Looked to spin the wheels in his trial and first-up assignment. GEMMA’S SON was excellent at his return to racing and gets a senior rider back. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – COMES A TIME WIN RACE 8 MULTINATIONAL is racing in brilliant form and everything that gets beaten by him is going well at their next outings. Three starts ago beat Benji’s and Mr Mt Walker, two starts ago finished second to Phanta and then last start beat Buster Bash. Showed versatility last start taking a sit and can track up behind Mood Swings here. Lovely map and racing extremely well. Takes beating again. MOOD SWINGS has not been the same horse with the sting out of the track. Barry Evans and George Dupre will be joining Dockers fans and hoping the rains don’t come. WEAPONSON is going well and maps a treat here. EM TEE AYE will need luck from a tricky alley. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 11 – 5 Suggested Bet – MULTINATIONAL WIN Same Race Multi – Multinational (Top 2) + Mood Swings (Top 4) Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 3,4,8,9 3,5,6,8,13 4,5,6,8 1,5,8,11 Market Market
