Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on August 20, 2020August 24, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ENDURING MOMENT has had to endure tough runs at both starts this campaign. Obvious query on the form lines that she brings into the race but from the gate she gets a great opportunity to open her winning account. From the draw she should sit just behind the speed and looks better suited at 1200m than she has been at 1000. FIERY WATER trialled very nicely under Madi Derrick and is a wonderful pick-up ride for Jade McNaught. The draw makes things tough but with any ounce of luck is right in the mix. BARNSLEY BOY had no luck last start when the saddle slipped. PROMISSION could have gone to a maiden at Kalgoorlie Sunday so it could be an indication she’s going well. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – ENDURING MOMENT WIN RACE 2 BEDOUIN BELLE is a query at 1400m but her last start effort was huge. Comes from a fast run race when narrowly missing behind Don’s Legacy with the highly talented Pletto back in third. That is clearly the best form line for this race and with Madi Derrick taking off 3kg she could nearly roll to the top in a race devoid of speed. Likely to open north of $4 which is a good enough quote to see whether or not she sticks the trip. PLAYING MARIKA is a bit hard to catch but on her day is a classy mare with a powerful turn of foot. Looks a great race for her on paper. DECEPTION GAME is likely to appreciate being back on top of the ground after spinning the wheels in the wet. NEAT ACTION was run off his legs last start and darted back to the quicksand cutaway. Worth following up. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – BEDOUIN BELLE WIN RACE 3 GUNNAGO has really hit some form. Always looked like the kind of horse who would stay and this is a pretty evenly graded staying affair. Was a big winner at Northam down the centre with 60kg before following it up with an eye catching effort behind Fuhrer. That form has already stacked up with Prince Turbo saluting last weekend and can continue to prove strong. BLACK SHADOW also comes from the same Fuhrer race as Gunnago. He sat close to the speed and just peaked late. Should be a great platform to launch from. MONTELENA did everything wrong last week and was still far too strong. Backs-up and looks well placed but likely to go round very short. JUICING CARROTS was enormous last start. Have a few trust issues with him but if he reproduces he’s a big winning chance. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – GUNNAGO EACHWAY RACE 4 STARFIELD IMPACT is another plumb ride for emerging Maritain apprentice Laqdar Ramoly. Her first up effort with 60kg chasing Clairvoyance and Panzdown speaks for itself and with the weight relief and a far weaker field she gets her chance to win her first race as a 3 year old. Multiple stakes winning juvenile who should be able to park behind a solid tempo and we’ll likely see eachway. MADAM TORIO is jump and run and if they let Chris Parnham pinch a midrace breather she’ll take running down. DARK ASSAULT is still a maiden but a m70 rater after placing in the Perth Stakes and Karrakatta. Unlikely to remain a maiden for long. SUNNYSILK fought hard first-up at Northam. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – STARFIELD IMPACT EACHWAY RACE 5 LEADING GIRL put the writing on the wall first-up. She mapped in an awkward position and that’s exactly how it turned out in running. Jarrad Noske gave her a 12/10 and she ran the fastest closing sections of the race and of the entire meeting. The big question will be whether she can reproduce second-up at 1400 but if she can she’ll be awfully hard to beat. PUT A SPELL ON YOU has been huge at her last four runs. Finally draws a gate and Madi Derrick can have her sitting right over the top of the speed with no weight on her back. LONSDALE LADY brings intrigue and X-Factor to the races. Destroyed them in the Ascot 1000 Guineas last year and her recent trial was electric. REGAL COUNSEL is well placed in this grade. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – LEADING GIRL WIN RACE 6 ARAGAIN has gone to a new level since joining Chris Willis’ stable. Her win Pinjarra in a C1 was arrogant and the form out of that race has really stacked up with Artie’s Jewels, Street Fair and Hoolahoops have all run well since. Last start sat over the top of a hot tempo and waltzed in. Should get a beautiful run leader’s back behind Locomotive and when he goes for home at the top of the straight she can peel off his back. LOCOMOTIVE will be winning plenty of races if SJ Miller can keep him sound. He is a bold front runner and with the engagement of Chris Graham gets in well at the weights. ACONITE couldn’t have done any more at her last two. Backs-up and draws well. SENTIMENTAL QUEEN needs luck from the draw. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 11 Suggested Bet – ARAGAIN WIN RACE 7 MASSIMO, WRINKLY and WESTERN TEMPLE ran first, second and third in the Ngawyni Stakes and see no reason why they won’t be fighting out the finish again. WESTERN TEMPLE can sit in the box seat behind Wrinkly and when he rolls off the fence there will be an inside run awaiting him. Has always been hard to catch but looked good at his Peter Fernie debut. WRINKLY is always a winning chance in this grade, especially with the 62kg top weight cap. Back on top of the ground, back up to a mile and rolls straight to the top. MASSIMO was brilliant last start and completely dominated a similar line-up. On trial at 1600m and may be forced to breeze outside Wrinkly. If he wins this he’s quite possibly railway bound. LORDHELPMERUN was back to his best last start. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – WESTERN TEMPLE WIN RACE 8 MONEY MATTERS was unable to run down the speedy and talented 1000m specialist We’ve Got Dreams first-up but now that she comes out of his line-up he simply jumps off the page as the winner. He is likely to be the target of relentless market support so we’ll get in early and load the bases. Super talented stakes winning 3 year old who looks to have come back bigger and better. JERICHO MISSILE has raced without any luck this preparation. 3 back the fence is awkward for him but if he sees daylight he’ll flash. HIGHLAND BEAT was excellent at his WA debut. If he can repeat that performance he’ll be in the finish. LITTLE FISH might be looking for further but gets a soft run midfield. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet – MONEY MATTERS WIN RACE 9 BADGE OF COURAGE has raced exclusively in higher grade since coming back to the metro area with a 78+, 3x 72+ and a 66+. Boasts placings to We’ve Got Dreams and Indian Pacific at 1000m and is more known as a 1200m horse. Laqdar Ramoly takes 3kg off and in a very wide open and evenly graded affair he looks a live chance at double figures. I’M ICEY has hit form and ran out of his skin last start. All the speed is drawn in close so he should land a plumb position. LIL RED BIKINI comes back to a more suitable trip. SIR MAMBO is a month between runs and is clearly better than what he produced last start. Numbers: 2 – 15 – 14 – 1 Suggested Bet – BADGE OF COURAGE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,3,6 2,3,5 8 1,2,5,7,10,13,14,15 Market Market
