Michael Heaton’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on August 12, 2025August 12, 2025 | Posted by Michael Heaton RACE 1 FRIAR’S LEGACY trialled well leading into his race return where he sat on a fast tempo and was pushed wide at the turn but still ran third to Country God and Riva Aquarama who were both already winners. He drops back into a Maiden with a run under his belt now and has options from his draw. EL ALAMEIN resumes off the back of a very impressive trial win on a heavy track and looks the likely leader here. Debutant OCEANETTA is another recent trial winner and this is the time of year where Peters Investments usually start unearthing newly-turned 3YOs with an eye to feature races later in the year. GANGSTER GODDESS got a long way back on debut but hit the line hard and gets a positive weight swing on Friar’s Legacy after the claim. Numbers: 1-3-12-9 Suggested Bet – FRIAR’S LEGACY WIN RACE 2 THE CRIMSON PIRATE jumps off the page. On debut he was held up and on the wrong part of the track when finishing second to subsequent winner Zourun Run before stepping from 1100m to 1400m second up and rattling home from near-last to finish second again. He split Talkaway (already a winner) and Come On Emma (already a winner) that day and now gets Pike on in a Maiden field that is lengths inferior. YOU CAN CALL ME AL is knocking on the door and seems to go best when on the fence. His low draw suits. ADROIT trialled well then made a stack of ground first up over an unsuitable 1200m at a big price. CAPABLE ANGEL is a query at 1400m but might be able to pinch some cheap sectionals in front with the lack of speed engaged. Numbers: 12-1-3-6 Suggested Bet – THE CRIMSON PIRATE WIN RACE 3 BARECOVE ROCK has been building into his campaign and looks ready to win. He hit the line strongly to finish second to the in-form Kervette in a C3 last start and now drops back into a winnable C1 at the same track/distance. ROMANTIC RULER doesn’t win out of turn but he’s been super consistent since joining Kath Pinter’s yard and has never missed the money from 6 starts at Belmont. ACES TO WIN looked tested by both the distance and company in the Belmont Classic last start but is much better placed here. SANDFIRE ROSE should’ve finished closer last time out and will appreciate the step back to a mile. Numbers: 1-2-3-10 Suggested Bet – BARECOVE ROCK WIN RACE 4 JUST LEROY was having his first outing past 1600m and only his second past 1400m last start but won well enough over the 2025m. The form has held up with Sirota winning his next start on the Fibre Sand and Mr Talentino and Vancouver Storm finishing first and third in a Graduation on Saturday. He’s lengths superior on rain-affected tracks and will be hoping for some rain. WOZZECK ran the fastest last 400m & 200m of the day over 2025m in a slowly run race 2 starts back then found the step to 66+ grade a bridge too far last time out. He gets into this nicely after the claim. OLDEN was doing his best work late when second to Just Leroy and just needs some luck from the gate to be in the finish again. LIEN HYPHEN might be stretched at 2200m but is going okay. Numbers: 1-2-5-3 Suggested Bet – JUST LEROY WIN RACE 5 RIVA AQUARAMA hasn’t done much wrong to date. On debut she recorded the fastest last 200m of the meeting to win then hit the line well again last start when bumping into the talented Country God. She stays at the same track/distance but drops back into a C1 now and gets Chris Parnham aboard. BOSISTO is lightly raced and appears to have upside. Made a good return down the straight course and is versatile so he can hold a more forward position here. COME ON EMMA has been going well in stronger races but maps awkwardly from her outside draw. SNIPER’S SON might be stretched at 1200m but hasn’t missed the top four in his past eight outings and it’s only a matter of time until Josh “Metro” Brown announces himself in town. Numbers: 10-1-4-6 Suggested Bet – RIVA AQUARAMA WIN RACE 6 MY JIMMY trialled brilliantly and was solid first up before a fast-finishing effort last week when running all the fastest closing splits. He now backs up off 7 days, gets an extra 100m and is a previous Saturday Graduation winner at this track/distance so he’s ideally suited in a C3. TRUE APOSTLE has to lump a full 61.5kg but has raced in far stronger races at his last couple of campaigns and still looks well placed in this company. TALKAWAY will need luck from the gate but is 2 from 2 since Chris Parnham has jumped aboard and appears to have both versatility and upside. MILLSTEE is only a C1 mare but she’s been reeling off big late sectionals and should relish the step to 1400m now. Numbers: 7-2-6-9 Suggested Bet – MY JIMMY WIN RACE 7 GI GI POPS looks really well placed back to a midweek second-up a spell. She’s coming out of a fast-run race where she had to sit outside a hot tempo and was still there late. The winner (Spectacular Park) ran second in a 66+ last Saturday to frank the form, whereas Gi Gi Pops drops back into a 0MW and has drawn to lead. Hard to beat. MISS WALL STREET is only coming out of a C2 at Kalgoorlie but she was probably the run of the meeting that day at her first start for Mack Hall’s yard. She drops a mammoth 9kg here and has raced well in and around this grade previously. TEABISCUIT (unofficially) won 2 on the bounce before giving a huge amount of cheek on a Saturday last start. LINDEN’S GOLD is going super but 62kg is a real leveller. Numbers: 8-13-12-1 Suggested Bet – GI GI POPS WIN RACE 8 HOUSEWIFE is going as well as ever. She burst through the field to win well at Northam 2 starts back before running the fastest closing splits and being beaten only 2L in Saturday grade despite getting held up late. There have been 2 Saturday winners out of that race (Little Silver & Lombadina) and she’s won off a 24-day spacing previously so the 25 days between runs might be ideal. VILLAGE GIRL is another mare in form and she’s looking for a winning hat-trick. Her last-start victory when posted deep throughout and still pulling away late to win by 3L was arrogant and she now gets Pike aboard. COLOSSAL was only fair first up but now steps to 1300m where he’s undefeated 3/3 and he should be able to hold a position in running. DEFENDING was sectionally a decent run first up and is suited to this grade. Numbers: 8-5-3-1 Suggested Bet – HOUSEWIFE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,4,6,10 1,2,5,6,7,9 8,12,13 1,3,5,7,8 Market Market
