Dogs

Harry Buchanan’s Friday Greyhound Best Bets

We return to Mandurah from a long lay off tonight after their first meeting back last night. A track that will suit the better performed Cannington dogs that don’t handle corner starts. Many Northam dogs will struggle here until they get big down grades as the faster better dogs will get room to operate on this spacious new circuit.

We will tread warily for a few meeting though while we get a handle on the track and how it plays. Some speculation tonight but the dogs selected give every indication this will be their track.

MANDURAH

Race 2 No. 2 Clifton Ilya

This distance is the first thing that suits her. She will step fast here and if she can hold up to the first turn, she will take some getting past in this. Don’t underestimate her.

Race 4 No. 7 Sunset Callisto and No. 4 Circle the Sea

The 7 looks better than these. The track should suit him ever better and he will take some stopping. The 4 will go fast here and could find the top. Didn’t look a real corner start dog so going to spec him here.

Race 5 No. 7 Agent Eleven and No. 5 Bang

The 7 will go quickly out wide and musters up as evidenced by her Northam 500 starts. Hard to catch if she leads. The 5 finally gets away from the Cannington 380 start and to a straight start and short trip. He could stun these now. Capable and will win here soon.

Race 6 No. 6 Rumblin’ Moment and No. 7 Kanji Giant

The 6 looks an ideal 488m dog and the bend start won’t bother him. If he swishes over here he will take a lot to mow down. The 7 is a smokie and gets a cart in. Trip is ideal and will look a threat if he tracks up through the middle section and he can stick on late.

Race 7 No. 7 Barrio Beast and No. 5 Dandalup Jasper

If ever there was a poster boy for the return of Mandurah, it’s the 7. He’s a different commodity off a straight start over a short trip and will love being back here. The 5 has a lot of talent and while the trip is short of his best, he will steam to the line off any trouble. Watch him late.

Race 8 No. 3 Celestial Gas

One of the very few dogs from the regular Northam brigade that will go well at this track now. Has good muster and rails home well which will suit here. Not a corner start dog and will go better with clear room here.

Race 12 No. 7 Fabs Max Potato

Trip perfect and he has no issue with a corner start. Will shock these if he gets out and running early and follow him at this circuit on whatever he does here. Strong and can figure.
