Racetrack Ralphy’s Flemington Best Bets Posted on November 10, 2017 | Posted by TABtouch Racetrack Ralphy’s Preview Race 5 QEWY save KIWIA From the same stable as last year’s astonishing winner of this race FRANCIS OF ASSISI who also won the Bendigo Cup as his lead in, and no reason to expect any different here. The reason being is that like last year the Bendigo Cup was a “real” race with solid pressure early and faster closing speed late. QEWY ran 4th in last year’s Melbourne Cup off a soft tempo Geelong Cup win and that equated to a big elevation race to race, typical of the UK stayers. I expect similar here and the market is letting you save with KIWIA who ran 2nd to him last start. Race 7 IMPENDING and MALAGUERRA This is an open Group 1 and these two are genuine winning chances at good odds and are the only two that match this criteria: They have both been set to peak here while other main chances were set for the Everest. IMPENDING’S first up 2nd at Randwick instantly matches up with the best form given it was to IN HER TIME and he’s been kept fresh since, while MALAGUERRA who won this race last year, ran blistering time this distance at Moonee Valley in January and his lead in run when 3rd in the Manikato was excellent and without luck on the home turn. Both good value plays. Race 8 FOLKSWOOD Not sure whats wrong with 3rd to WINX in the Cox Plate as lead in form for this, but I can’t find any holes in it. HUMIDOR’S big run seems to have put the slows on it, but he was outstanding and ran to his level as the 2nd best horse in the country. FOLKSWOOD was super in the Cranbourne Cup and better at Moonee Valley. I can’t see why he won’t maintain that level. If he does he’ll almost certainly win.
