RACE 1

Was keen on ARMED FORCES at Eagle Farm however connections have decided to stay home & tackle this race on debut before likely heading north. Really liked his trials making ground on each occasion under little or no pressure. SOVEREIGN FUND the logical danger, excuses in the Magic Millions was unbeaten prior, has won a lead-up trial.

RACE 2

Certainly not knocking BIANCO VILANO’s form however 63.5kg is no picnic even with a good gate & J. Mac to steer. Appears a suitable race for LISZTOMANIA who will carry 57.5kg after the claim & looks close to a win, liked the way he found the line at Randwick last start & he handles all surfaces. BARRADAS can improve on a hopefully drier track.

RACE 3

Most of the well fancied runners have come up with bad gates here which could well throw up a surprise result. MIRACLE SPIN has dropped right off the radar after basically one bad run on a heavy track, that’s a surface he usually handles well suggesting there may have been other issues at play. He’ll get back however at the big odds I’ll have a small play. WRATHFUL is very promising, just has to handle that wide draw.

RACE 4

LAVISH EMPIRE looks a promising type who has only had the three starts to date recording a win & two placings. Drawn well here won’t mind any rain about & strips fitter of the first up run. CONTEMPORY will also be all the better for the first up run & gets the services of an in-form Zac Lloyd. FLAG OF HONOUR is one for one fresh, comes out of better races last prep.

RACE 5

KIPSBAY was a dominant winner at Eagle Farm two starts back before failing at the same venue last time out however as a leader missing the start wasn’t ideal. Like to see him push on here & if that’s the case he can bounce back without any surprise. FOX FIGHTER backs up off a good 4^th at Hawkesbury last week. DASHING LEGEND was very brave in the Group 2 last start sitting 3 deep throughout, raced wide the start prior as well, this is much easier. HELLFEST is effective fresh & draws the pole.

RACE 6

Open race. NAVAJO PEAK has the right form however the break between runs might need the hit out? I’m going with LACKEEN who has been looking for the step up in distance, hasn’t exactly lived up to early promise however doesn’t have to be any star to win this. WARNING is the class runner, more than capable of mowing these down if on song.

RACE 7

Ex Kiwi mare PODIUM QUEEN joins the Chris Waller stable with a perfect first up record. Given a recent soft trial she’s likely ready to go here however the market moves will be our best guide. KAYOBI started favourite in the Provincial-Midway Championships & although looking a chance on the turn he just didn’t let down, may have been the heavy ground. Whatever the case he can bounce back here. FLOATING definitely in the mix.

RACE 8

Like SHORT SHORTS dropping back 100m in distance here. Strong first up in easier grade she just didn’t finish off last time, drawn the pole if the fence is the place to be she’ll prove even harder to beat. I gave up on FRUMOS a while back however can still entertain her as at least a place chance, wet ground will help. LEKVARTE can run a race first up.

RACE 9

DEMOCRACY MANIFEST is the type of horse we’d all like to own, super consistent, when not winning he’s never far away. Zoomed through along the fence to score first up & can go right on with it here. CUBAN ROYALE isn’t quite as consistent however hasn’t been far away of late in better races, knockout chance at odds. COAL CRUSHER is up in weight however down in grade from group class.

RACE 10

Waterhouse/Bott runner HUESCA is hard fit & ready to win. He’s had the two outings back from a break resulting in a couple of honest placings at Warwick Farm, this race is tougher on paper however is that really the case? CAPO STRADA fitter comes up with a poor gate, needs to overcome that. The Waller trio TONY BE, STARMAN & ROBUSTO are all capable.
