Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on July 17, 2025July 17, 2025 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 We race at Eagle Farm in Brisbane on Saturday on hopefully good ground, there is rain forecast on Friday, how much we get remains to be seen, keep your eyes on the skies. I’m leaning to (9) ARISPHERE in this opening race however I certainly wouldn’t be having my last on her as she’s not the easiest to catch. Freshened up she’s been back to the trials running well (won) & from a good gate can land the right run. (4) MR GALAZI is consistent & has won twice here over this trip. Ex-Victorian (14) FRAGILE LOVE races off speed however her recent form is good enough to figure here, market? Numbers: 9 – 4 – 14 – 6 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 2 Very keen on the chances of the Ciaron Maher trained filly (2) BEREZKA who is busting to get out over further than the 1100m of her last two starts & gets that today rising 100m on a bigger track. She made good ground behind the in-form King’s Secret at Rosehill last start & that one has since score again (last Saturday). (1) JUST PRECIOUS will improve with the first up run fitness wise plus is also well-suited stepping up in distance. (8) ESPRIT DU JOUR gets in with a light weight & is yet another looking for this longer trip. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet: BEREZKA TO WIN. RACE 3 Not keen on this race where there’s a lack of speed & class. AERIAL DANCER & JUST FLYING figure to control it out front however they just aren’t going well enough to win even with soft runs. (7) MERCHANT FLYER backs up from a Doomben placing last Saturday when he in all fairness should have finished closer just having to wait & come over heels in the straight before closing off well. The back-up has worked successfully for him in the past. (4) NORTHERN DECREE disappointed at the Sunshine Coast however likely was on the wrong park of the track that day (inside), previous form solid. Take your pick the rest! Numbers: 7 – 4 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet: MERCHANT FLYER TO WIN (small bet). RACE 4 Chris Waller’s mare (9) CHICA MOJITO has done me no favours whatsoever however I’m nothing but loyal (or stupid) sticking with her in this race. From the rails gate in a race with little speed on paper she can take full advantage & park in the first 4, from there she’ll get her chance to record a well overdue win aided by a very light weight & drop back from a Listed placing last start. Stable mate (1) CHRYSAOR is impossible to follow however this is exactly the type of race he can show up in if in the right mood. (5) DEVASTATE has had many chances however is one of only two on-paced runners engaged here which is a positive. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet: CHICA MOJITO TO WIN. RACE 5 Very open race for the 2yo’s where I’m going to lean to (1) BETTERLUCKNEXTTIME who hasn’t been in the best of form recently however clearly has the best overall form in the race having placed behind Grafterburners 4 starts back amongst other solid performances. Should things pan out today he looks overs in early markets. (2) PRETTY DUBIOUS is another who can improve off a disappointing fresh run, much better than that. The run of the race likely belongs to (9) BLITZWATER from the good draw who comes into this off a last start win & has plenty of upside. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 6 The Kelly Schweida stable continues to train plenty of winners & they send around (1) VODKA MARTINI here who can bounce back off a subpar last start performance at the Sunshine Coast. That’s the second time he’s raced below his best on that track & he did play up badly before the start suggesting he just wasn’t in the mood. Returning to a track he does have a good record on he can bounce back hard. (2) WANDA ROX is fresh & that’s how she races best, great record at the track also. (3) APPIN GIRL will give them both a start however she’s more than capable of a big finish, don’t overlook. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet: VODKA MARTINI TO WIN. RACE 7 Very tough race to sort where I’ll lean to the recent newcomer to the Tony Gollan stable (13) BINDI’S CHOICE who didn’t finish too far off the stablemate when clocking in 4th here in a recent midweeker. (18) CHO OYU has good ability, he looked to be battling before the turn at Ipswich last start before unleashing a strong late finish, not out of this. (1) LIBERTY STEPS closed off impressively first up, will need plenty of luck from the wide draw though. Numbers: 13 – 18 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 8 Lightly raced Sunshine Coaster (9) TEN GOOD REASONS did a good job last start winning his maiden here dropping back to 1000m. His first up placing at Doomben over 1200m was a fast finishing one which suggested 1000m would be too short however that wasn’t the case as he burst through late before running clear to the line. Now back to 1200m, in form & with good upside. (2) BENZOU & (1) LEAD ME ON both have strong form lines & the ability to win the race, they do rise sharply in weight though. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet: TEN GOOD REASONS EACH-WAY. RACE 9 Confident we can end the day on a winning note with the consistent third-up (7) CASPERNOVA who was very unlucky not to win fresh after a slow getaway before running home well into second last start behind a winner who most through would stop however did not! Just needs a touch of luck or some cover from the awkward alley here & should he get that he’s clearly the one to beat. (11) GIVE GIGGLES often finds bad luck however that was taken right out of the equation last start when straight to the front leading throughout, similar tactics today? (10) ZELGARIA a place chance fresh. Numbers: 7 – 11 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet: CASPERNOVA TO WIN. Market Market
