Not exactly a pin-up horse for the punters however he really should be winning on Saturday. In a race where I can’t find a clear leader jockey Jim Byrne will highly likely be positive from the gate and settle in the first few which importantly keep him out of trouble. That’s a big positive as if there’s any hard luck stories to be had they’re usually his!

RACE 8 No.5 Shooting For Gold

I’m expecting a solid tempo in the Moreton Cup which will suit this consistent galloper from the O’Dea/Hoysted yard. Powered home first up here over 1000m before unsuited on heavy ground at the Gold Coast on Hollindale Day when missing a place however still far from disgraced clocking in fourth. He races best when fresh which is the case here, he’ll be motoring late!

RACE 10 No.2 Ingratiating

Pace looks strong in the final race with a high number of leading/on paced types engaged. That’s going to suit this Godolphin runner right down to the ground with his strong finish. Placed in Group 1 company behind Jonker late last prep he’s rarely far away in top grade and will really enjoy getting back on top of the ground. Looks very well placed.
