Scott Embry’s Saturday Mount Magnet Preview

RACE 1

TINY CHAMPION showed something last start. She went around 25-1 and was forced to cover ground from start to finish before eventually finishing third behind Coupe Deburj and Danea Rock. Back to 1200m, senior rider on and the way that Meg Forrester’s team went at Junction you’d have to think she’s a decent chance at an eachway price. ANY QUESTIONS comes out of Carnarvon win a 1400m minor to Costa Star and then a 1000m fourth placing to Lady Mayflower when unable to get into the contest. Will look for the top here? PRINCIPAL DEALER ran second to Boutique Session at Broome in what was one of her best runs of her career. EIGHT COUNT trialled up okay at Lark Hill on occasion.

Numbers: 7 – 1 – 6 – 5

Suggested Bet – TINY CHAMPION WIN

RACE 2

INTOXICATING really found her dirt feet at Junction. She showed speed, found a prominent position in running and never looked like being beaten at any stage in running. If she can reproduce that effort and use her inside gate to advantage then she’ll be really hard to beat here. FAMEUX continues to produce deep into a preparation that started back in February in Esperance! Only three back he won an identically graded race at Port Hedland under Sharni Webster and 60kg. Very similar set up. REPEATER has always profiled like a nice dirt horse. We’ll find out here. IF I DIN DAVADIME can a cheeky race at Kununurra on Ladies Day.

Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 6

Suggested Bet – INTOXICATING WIN

RACE 3

RAGING BEAUTY comes into this Mt Magnet race first-up no trial. She has raced at 3 Magnet meetings over the last 3 years and finished in the money at each and every one of them. This race is filled with horses who aren’t really natural sprinting types, so if Peter Moses has her ready to go then she can be ridden for speed and look to pinch this on the eachway. OLE GRANDE did win a Broome maiden leading at 1200m. Forgive last start when back and chasing throughout. SCHUHBECK has loomed the winner in nearly every start of his career – he just doesn’t seem to want to win? Easily the best form lines in the race, but a risky favourite. POWER TO RULE has a low draw and some early toe.

Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 7

Suggested Bet – RAGING BEAUTY EACHWAY

RACE 4  – Best Bet

CLIMB ON TOP is an ideal Ladies Bracelet horse. Won a 70+ at Broome, finished third to Broome Sprint winner Now You See Me and classy type Cruise To Victory and then led an won a 64+ 1300. He should be an ideal apprentice’s horse and after the claim of Ebony Johnson he has a very winnable 60kg impost. Must jump – but if he does and if he leads, then he’ll be very hard to catch. SIMPLY ROSSO is as honest and consistent as they come. He pinches a race or two each and every season and this has been no different. LOST GRAVITY has mixed his form a bit on the dirt. ROEY CLAM would have loved if this race was 1400 rather than 1200.

Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 5

Suggested Bet – CLIMB ON TOP WIN

RACE 5

RULER ROCKET has his first start on the dirt for new trainer Peter Bamford. His grass form is 10L better than anything in this line up, but how he goes on the surface is a huge unknown. He has been a bit out of form since a really good fresh run, but that has also seen him drop a stack of points to become eligible for extremely winnable races like this. All or nothing kind of investment. SWISHGOBANGO is half the horse Ruler Rocket is – but he is a proven dirt commodity. Love the grit he showed last start to fight them off. BLOWIN SMOKE has been there abouts all preparation (career) but lacks a killer blow. FORBIDDEN APPLE doesn’t jump. That’s an issue on the dirt.

Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 5

Suggested Bet – RULER ROCKET WIN

RACE 6

ANOTHER NEPHEW won the Marble Bar Cup, ran third to Zadar Rock (Roebourne Cup winner) and Dynamic One (Newman Cup winner), ran fifth in a Broome Cup, ran fourth in a Newman Cup and then won a 56+ 1750 at Carnarvon’s last meeting when wide and working throughout in a race where they cleared out 6L from third. The only unknown is barrier 1 but if he steps cleanly he’s the one to beat. SOLO VEGA is going along really well on the grass. Big unknown whether they’ll love the surface or hate the surface at their first outing but this is nice placement from Boy Hill. GOT LUCKY is an out and out dirt specialist. Don’t be surprised to see him jump out of the ground late. MYSTICAL MAN similarly. Great dirt horse.

Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 3

Suggested Bet – ANOTHER NEPHEW WIN
