Deane’s Saturday Caulfield Best Bets Posted on September 1, 2017September 1, 2017 | Posted by Deane Lester Extra SuperPicks for Caulfield – Races 1 & 2 TABtouch customers can enjoy extra SuperPicks on races 1 and 2 this Saturday at Caulfield. RACE 1 This looks a very even contest with the form from a race won by JUSTICE GLORY at Sandown on August 16 looking the definitive formline. There doesn’t look much between the main chances, however PROSECUTION gets the best of the barrier draws and elite rider Mark Zahra taking the mount is a bonus. SuperPick - Race 1 No. 2 PROSECUTION - Place Boost RACE 2 OREGON’S DAY appeals as one of the better bets of the day. She does lack early speed so she will need a good Mark Zahra ride, however her first up run was excellent and she’s a very classy mare. SuperPick - Race 2 No. 8 OREGON’S DAY - Money Back Deane Lester’s Best Bets RACE 2 NO. 8 OREGON’S DAY Talented mare OREGON’S DAY will be fitter for one run back from a spell and looks a strong winning chance when she contests the Chandler Macleod Plate (1400m). The four year old resumed with a fast finishing 8th behind SULLIVAN BAY over an unsuitable 1100 metres at Caulfield on August 19. Whilst she finished unplaced, the daughter of Domesday reeled off the best final 600 metres of the meeting suggesting that she will relish a step up in distance. Mark Zahra enjoyed good success aboard OREGON’S DAY last preparation and is reunited with the mare in this race. It’s a handy field and OREGON’S DAY will need some luck getting through traffic, however she’s a classy galloper that should prove hard to beat. RACE 3 NO. 4 THEANSWERMYFRIEND THEANSWERMYFRIEND is an exciting prospect from the Robert Smerdon stable that will derive huge benefit from his recent fresh run and looks the one to beat when he runs in the Benchmark 78 Plate (1200m). The four year old looked in need of the run but still ran bravely to finish 2nd behind QUILISTA over 1100 metres at Caulfield on August 19. The slightly longer distance is in his favour and, whilst he has to contend with a wide draw, has the tactical speed to make his own luck and gets the benefit of Ben Thompson’s 1.5kg allowance. He seems destined to race in stronger races in the coming weeks so THEANSWERMYFRIEND should prove too classy for this field and represents one of the best bets of the day. RACE 5 NO. 2 FUHRYK FUHRYK commences her spring campaign when he runs in the Cockram Stakes (1200m) and looks ideally placed to comes back to racing as a winner. The daughter of Star Witness has built a fine record of five wins from nine starts with all of those wins being over 1200 metres. She is a dual stakes winner and her recent trials would suggest that she is primed for a strong first-up showing. Champion rider Craig Williams takes the ride and FUHRYK appeals as the class runner of this field that should be winning. SuperPick - RACE 5 NO. 2 FUHRYK - Win Boost Bet Now
