Greg’s Best Bets for Belmont Posted on June 3, 2016June 7, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 NEXT GENERATION turned it on at his last start when he steamed home along the fence to produce a strong win. The rise to 1200m should suit and if he repeats he goes close. ROYAL MISSILE is a well bred type from the Simon Miller yard. She was very impressive in winning her most recent trial when the blinkers were added. VEUVE DE VEGA ran well on debut and then raced a little flat. He can improve. COSMIC BALLET ran well in midweek grade at her most recent start. Numbers – 1 – 12 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – Next Generation and Royal Missile RACE 2 PRESENTATIE gets her chance for a maiden WA win. She loomed large at her most recent start but just peaked late. From gate 4 William Pike has her camped right behind the speed and she goes very close. SHADY GRAY was terrific in a strong race last start. The drop back to 1200m is a slight query. PUTERI JEWEL leads and controls. BRISANTO is flying but has an awkward draw to overcome. Numbers – 8 – 3 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – Presentatie win RACE 3 VERDELLO BLUE always seems to bob up for a win each preparation and this might just be his race. He put the writing on the wall last start when leading and getting run down over the final 100m. He finds the lead again and with 53kg on his back he will give a big sight. STAR EXHIBIT is humming along and is the one to hold out again. DRUPA was really tough last week and has claims again. SHINTA MANI can improve on her flat run last start. Numbers – 4 – 2 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – Verdello Blue each-way RACE 4 At the prices on offer going for PALACE INTRUDER who improved sharply last start when breezing and sprinting clear for a big win after the blinkers were applied to his gear. He will again go forward in the run and if he repeats that effort he’ll take some beating. THE COBBLA backs up from a fair effort last week. Importantly he carries just the 51.5kg after the claim for Randy Tan. UNIVERSAL LAW will again be the favourite and can win. THUNDERCLAP NEWMAN should be just about ready to produce his best. Numbers –8 – 9 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – Palace Intruder and The Cobbla RACE 5 MUSGAVE broke her maiden tag with a strong win at Northam after tracking wide throughout. She is up in class however has drawn to get a soft run and Lucy Warwick retains the ride. DUCHA ZACHISTKI was good last week in a stronger race. Rom gate 1 he should get a very soft run in transit and sprint hard late. ROSMARTINI showed she was getting back to her better form with a tough effort in midweek grade. She should lead on her ear. SIGIL has claims with Pike on. Numbers – 12 – 6 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – Musgave and Ducha Zachistki RACE 6 COOL PASSION looks a class above these sprinters. She has been a little disappointing at her last two start over 1200m where she was chopped down late however this does look a much easier assignment and she drops back to 1000m. She should be too good. TRAVELLIN’ looks the logical danger. The draw makes it tough but he is ready to win. The Albany stable mates POTENT SECRET and LONG KNIFE next best. Numbers – 5 – 4 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – Cool Passion save Travellin’ RACE 7 Darren Macauliffe saddles up two of the key chances in this race being MILITARY REIGN and REBEL KING. At the prices on offer going for REBEL KING. He was scratched a fortnight back due to a wet surface. His first-up run last preparation was a narrow defeat in the Summer Scorcher to the likes of Shiedel and Luckygray. WINDSWEPT ran well first-up and can improve off that effort. MILITARY REIGN is flying and is the one to run down. SECRET NOVA has claims. Numbers – 5 -6 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – Rebel King win RACE 8 TUDOR BOLT disappointed first-up. He’s a better horse than that and can improve sharply back on top of the ground. VEGA MAGIC got the job done second-up. He doesn’t appear to be at his explosive best this preparation . GREY ENIGMA will get a cheap run just behind the speed and finish strongly with just 54kg on his back. GIGANTE goes well at this track and has claims again. Numbers – 16 – 6 – 12 – 3 Suggested Bet – Tudor Bolt win QUADDIE RACE 5 – 3 – 5 – 6 – 12 RACE 6 – 4 – 5 RACE 7 – 2 – 5 – 6 – 8 RACE 8 – 1 – 3 – 6 – 11 – 12 – 16 Bet Now
