Greg’s Belmont Best Bets Posted on August 19, 2016August 22, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 A $30,000 maiden to start the day and it has brought together a capacity line-up. MISS ICONIC resumes from a spell with the benefit of a strong trial win. She was very close to cracking it for a win in her first campaign and if he trial is anything to go by she will be screwed down and ready for this assignment. JUST JUDE was well supported in betting at Northam and it was wasn’t for some bad luck she would have gone close to winning. OUTSTRETCH can lead and give a sight. CAYMAN BOUND should improve off his first-up run and Pike goes on. Numbers – 13 – 15 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – Miss Iconic and Just Jude RACE 2 DAINTY TESS should lead and give terrific sight in front as she always does. NEXT GENERATION only win was at this track and distance on a rain affected surface. SWEET ORA goes close again. There is little between her and Dainty Tess. MAGIC OPUS next best. Numbers – 1 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – Dainty Tess win RACE 3 GET OVER IT was very impressive on debut showing a nice turn of foot and despite ducking back to the rail in the straight and costing itself ground it was able to get the job done. The 1400m should suit and he looks a horse of plenty of promise. ONE SHORT Numbers – 4 – 5 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – Get Over It win RACE 4 The betting will tell the tale in this race with Jim Taylor saddling up two of the main chances, JUENDIS and TRAVELLIN’. JUENDIS gets the nod as he does appear a better suited 1000m horse and does goes well fresh. STRAVIGO has been disappointing since racing in WA. This does look a nice assignment for him though. STABLE SECRET is always a chance at this level. TRAVELLIN’ can win particularly if he meets betting support. Numbers – 9 – 6 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – Juendis win RACE 5 DJANGO has returned a rejuvenated galloper since racing for the Alan Mathews team. He’ll get off the speed and smash the line again. SECRET NOVA can give a big sight on the speed. REBEL KING leads of box seats from gate 1 and this looks a very suitable race. MIKI TWO TOES is always a chance at this level. Numbers – 8 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – Django win RACE 6 This looks a very tough staying race. SONNEN led and smashed his rivals at his most recent start. Harvey takes over from Autier (who is riding FATHOMS OF GOLD). If he can find the front and roll along again he can win. PRESENT ARMS has been racing well in better standard of races than this. Pike retains the mount. MILITARY SERVICE can improve with the rise in distance. FATHOMS OF GOLD gives another big sight on the speed. Numbers – 7 – 2 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – Sonnen and Military Service RACE 7 This is another tricky race. SAKER should derive plenty of benefit from his first-up run and appreciate the rise in distance. He gets down to 52kg after the claim for Randy Tan. THUNDERCLAP NEWMAN excels at this distance and loves it when the sting is out of the surface. SENSO is racing in top form and should get the favours from gate 1. SHALO will need to do some early work from a wide gate but will pinch one of these races soon. Numbers – 11 – 4 – 12 – 6 Suggested Bet – Saker win RACE 8 Terrific finish to the program. CHASING CHAOS ran well first-up and should improve off that run. The rise to 1400m also looks a positive. MAJINIKA smashed them last start. This race has more depth but he is a horse on the rise. HELLO PARIS has awkward draw to overcome but is in form. ROYAL SUPREME next best. Numbers – 1 – 4 – 13 – 9 Suggested Bet – Chasing Chaos and Majinika QUADDIE RACE 5 – 1, 3, 4, 8 RACE 6 – 1, 2, 5, 7, 8 RACE 7 – 3, 4, 5, 6, 11, 12 RACE 8 – 1, 4, 13 Bet Now
