Greg Hooper’s Ascot Wednesday Preview Posted on May 17, 2017 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 ROMNA FIGHTER gave a bold showing when resuming in Saturday grade. He can lead again and Pike jumps on. BELLS TOWER is knocking on the door. He will park right up on the speed. HOPETOUN has trialled well and is expected to sprint well fresh. THE DANKSTER was a strong first-up winner at Narrogin. Numbers – 4 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – ROMAN FIGHTER AND BELLS TOWER RACE 2 This looks almost a raffle with eleven debutantes engaged. MIZLECKI has looked sharp in the trials and Pike rides. THE NICCONIAN has the blinkers on and should race handy to the speed. BRONZE IDOL looks like it possesses a strong late finish. MEGADON has been given plenty of barrier trial experience and should be rock hard fit and primed. Numbers – 10 – 6 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – MIZLECKI WIN RACE 3 ALLUME LE FEU finished strong on debut when coming from worst then midfield and then just didn’t appear to enjoy racing without cover outside the leader. Suspect she will be ridden quieter in this and improve sharply. PERFECT DREAM finished off nicely at her race track debut suggesting she will really appreciate the 1400m. VAGABOND BOY has run well at both starts and has claims again. PICK UP LINE has always shown some ability. Numbers – 12 – 13 – 5 -6 Suggested Bet – ALLUME LE FEU AND PERFECT DREAM RACE 4 INIMITABLE has the form to win this race the only query is the five weeks between runs. If she races to her peak form she should be too strong. JUST ELATED has claims if he can cross from his wide alley. BATTALION HILL put in a shocker first-up. Expect him to improve with Pike going on. MAGIC MINT is looking for the 1400m. Numbers – 12 -2 – 5 – 11 Suggested Bet – INIMITABLE WIN RACE 5 HUMANITY is a class three-year-old who should be primed for this assignment second-up. Last campaign he was able to salute second up at a mile after being beaten a long way over 1000m. This looks a very similar set up. He actually beat RISING SEA in that race and he appears the main danger again. MR UNDERCOVER ran well last start at bolters odds. He should box seat from gate 1. ROUGHEAD next best. Suggested – 1 – 4 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – HUMANITY WIN SuperPick - Race 5 No. 1 HUMANITY - Profit Plus – 25% (Win) RACE 6 THE DIRECTOR found the line strongly first-up over 1200m and looks suited with the drop in class and step up in trip. The blinkers going on are also another positive. YOU’RE A RUMIN is hard to catch but he finished strongly behind a stable mate in form at Albany. SHARKMOUTH can sit on the speed and keep finding. FIREMAN FREDDY may lead and give some cheek. Numbers – 3 – 4 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – THE DIRECTOR WIN RACE 7 HOT BRESA put the writing on the wall last start with a fast finishing effort over 1800m. If he can settle closer to the speed to the speed he takes plenty of holding out. JACKPOT PRINCE was outclassed last start and the mile was too sharp for him. This looks much more suitable. SCANDIUM can lead or breeze and give a sight. SAXOPHONIST should be nearing peak fitness at his third run back from a spell. Numbers – 1 – 3 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – HOT BRESA AND JACKPOT PRINCE RACE 8 BLACK FREDA ran well over this trip last start in much harder grade. She can be put into the race early and give this a shake. TUCKY’S LAD should get a soft run and is another who drops in class. PRIZE CATCH was able to get up at Northam over 1400m. The step up in trip is a query but Pike sticks. CAPRICORN DANCER is always a chance at this level. Numbers – 2 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – BLACK FREDA AND TUCKY’S LAD QUADDIE Race 5 – 1, 4 Race 6 – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9 Race 7 – 1, 2, 3, 10 Race 8 – 1, 2, 3, 5 Bet Now
