Glenn Ingram’s Wednesday Geelong Preview Posted on October 20, 2026October 20, 2026 | Posted by Glenn Ingram Race 1 Good speed likely with 2,4,5 & 6 all getting handy from their draw. Patrick Payne’s progressive stayer NOTTOLOOK is my pick in the race, heavily backed in Adelaide last start and travelled sweetly in the run for an easy win, should appreciate another genuine tempo from a good draw. ROARING ENGINE was gone at the 400m at Seymour and got going again, third-up 2400m, he’ll be charging late for B Shinn and the local stable. NO RUMOURS is also ready to fire third-up, he needs the speed on more than most. Respect MR O’REILLY although he will have pressure. Selections: 3,12,9,2 Suggested Bets: NOTTOLOOK & ROARING ENGINE Race 2 HOME TOMURRA resumed with a sound effort at this course in a small field sit/sprint and looks set to improve further 2nd up from a good barrier as he did winning in QLD last season. Toby Lake’s mare TENNESSEE SPIRIT is a winning hope although has drawn a nasty gate, they have been riding her quieter with success, need luck. ROYAL RENDEZVOUZ is a nice horse with a negative racing style, he’ll again need speed and pattern favours from his wide draw. Stablemates SUPERLIV and PURPLE STREAK can be positive and worth respecting. Selections: 7,11,15,18 Suggested Bet: HOME TOMURRA 1 x 4 Race 3 (Best Bet) AURORA BELLE stamped her credentials with an impressive Australian debut win at Ballarat following a number of good jumpouts at Flemington. She finds another suitable race at BM70 and is well-placed for a mare destined for black-type racing this campaign. Local galloper LARIO will be sharing a spot on-speed with her and they look the obvious quinella. Wider hopes to MISTY WHISPER and YUM particularly if the track is favouring those running on. Selections: 7,2,10,11 Suggested Bet: AURORA BELLE win Race 4 Open race. MR NATURAL is exciting, gave up ground early and launched home on a day it was hard to do it at Geelong, the money came for him and expecting more of the same and he’s the one to beat. POWER AND THE BEAT was a good thing beaten on the same day and surely lands a pair or two closer after getting shuffled back and running on. Last start winners REGAL MIGHT and KARREN both go forward and settle in handy positions, the latter may have more upside. Watch for DON RUBIO running on late. Selections: 14,8,9,2 Suggested Bet: Exotics Race 5 COLD SHOWER is likely to lead and has the benefit of a run over 2000m after winning a low maiden here. He’ll get a few of these off the bridle and chasing and is a leading hope. MURSHIDI sat handy to Fringilla in a fast win here last start and was no match, rise in trip suits with B Shinn going aboard. GRADIVUS is another to take a forward position. Outside of these, the class runner is ICY YOU and ran well again at Flemington on a wet track, this is a nice progression to the Derby. Selections: 5,7,2,3 Suggested Bet: MURSHIDI win Race 6 (Wildcard) A DIVA took a sit at Cranbourne first-up, I can see them leading this field if there is intent on what looks a moderate speed on paper. STAY HUMBLE is in-form and goes forward again, Jabez Johnstone rides him well and stays aboard. Love what GREGOLIMO has been doing at the jumpouts this prep, long time between wins, this is a good race for him to be winning first-up before getting out further in trip. STUNG was ordinary fresh, she’s better than what she showed at Cranbourne, expect a more positive ride using the inside. KO PHANGAN one for the exotics. Selections: 1,4,6,10 Suggested Bet: GREGOLIMO 1 x 4 Race 7 Doubt they go hard, and could be a replica of last year’s Cup race. Waterhouse & Bott bring down THE EUPHRATES after a game on-speed run in the Metropolitan Hcp and appears to get a race run to suit setting the speed. Local LITZDEEL will be set for this and set to peak after four runs in, well-backed and missed at Caulfield last start, soft draw, should figure. Lightly tried POINT OF LAW makes his Australian debut for Ciaron Maher, wide draw, looks as one who can go forward and watch betting. Fellow UK raider SMALL FRY for Joseph O’Brien also first-up here in Australia. Selections: 2,11,8,10 Suggested Bet: THE EUPHRATES win Race 8 Even speed which brings CELSIUS STAR into play as the likely leader, he was good fresh up at Cranbourne and generally improves for the run, a good each way chance this field. Giving VAIL MOUNTAIN a blowout chance for minor money, got too far back on debut for the new stable first-up off a long break, should improve enormously from the run and this is an open race. EVERAIN should get a soft run in behind the speed from the low draw and JUST A JOURNEY has good ability, tricky draw, will need luck to be figuring. Selections: 1,11,8,10 Suggested Bet: CELSIUS STAR & VAIL MOUNTAIN Race 9 (Best Value) SULEK was heavily backed to win fresh at Ballarat off some promising jumpouts, he was never a winning chance too far back before making ground in the straight. Up in distance and can see him improving despite going up in class. BELLA VERONA has been well-placed to win both runs this time in, she looks ready to peak but this is her toughest assignment including a wide draw to overcome. MR VERSE gets a welcome drop in class and B Shinn, SOMEWHERE needs a win, barrier makes it difficult. Selections: 12,5,10,3 Suggested Bet: SULEK win MULTI: R1#12 place, R5#5 place, R9#12 place
