Race 1

MORRYL MORAL has made his way onto the jumps scene and was brave setting the speed at Casterton last start, he looks our leader again. SPLIT is the horse to beat carrying topweight, he’s a tough kiwi races on or near the pace and has come in superb order this campaign. If there’s a knock he’d like rain on the day which is unlikely. ZINOVATON beat MORRYL MORAL in his maiden hurdle and very little separates them. Tough race.

Race 2

ANDY WIN on a heavy track would be near unbeatable, unfortunately he’s struck some rare Melbourne winter sun in the lead-up to his target race and that may prove costly. ONGATITI has improved with racing at Ciaron Maher’s the former kiwi can stay but is one-paced and finds himself over the jumps. The forecast favours him more than others. ARDAKAN has been a costly conveyance with a strong SP profile, big win at the bool’ he too needs a wet.

Race 3

Smallish field may favour MAUNA KEA MISS after a disappointing prep to date she now gets in nice and light on what should be a firming track where her form lies. QUEEN CHRISTINE was dominant winning at Warnambool on a heavy deck, the obvious horse to beat, drying track conditions cast some doubt on her reproducing last start effort up in grade sharply. CONSCIENCE promised much early and disappointed after winning on debut as a 2YO, this is easier, trials have been good. PACKERS JOURNEY no mug, drying track favours.

Race 4

The champion STERN IDOL has been strongly supported in early betting and finds his race for the preparation. He can either lead or follow HIT THE ROAD JACK everywhere he goes and finish best. SING FOR PEACE will hit a flat spot and pick up again as he likes to do. MR LINCOLN and THE MIGHTY SPAR minor claims.

Race 5

Love what Josh Cartwright has done with TALKIN ITALIAN this prep, big run fresh then careered away for an impressive win in the arguably inferior ground at Geelong on a wet track. Handles all surfaces and scratched from the home track Friday to be saved for this and is the one to beat. RUSSIAN FRONT will relying on the improving track for his winning chance, no match for MONGOLIAN CITY last start but a swing in the weights this time. ALLGREEKTOME is the big watch for Lindsay Park, first-up off three jumpouts returning from HK.

Race 6

Speed drawn out and looks a genuine tempo. Another suitable race for KOMITO third-up stepping up in distance after winning at Sandown last start defeating sub winner Blue Willow franking the form. Speed on helps. GIGGENBACH hit the line strongly behind the winniner in the key form reference and also suited up in distance. OMAMORI will whack away and a place hope so is DRAGOON if left alone up top.

Race 7

Hard race, DENY ENTRY resumed at big odds at Cranbourne to score and may go on with it. Like the rider engagement of PARIAH PEARL battling for form, her best is good enough to be winning. ZEBRA FINCH drops in grade but hasn’t looked like winning, perhaps this is his chance. MEH KEFFI can bob up in something like this, have to take on trust. Open race, going wide in the quaddie.

Race 8

MIKE’S HOPE will carry the hope of the punters looking to get out on a tough day. He tracked the speed at the short quote at Mildura and won well. He gets the perfect draw to repeat that win with Blake Shinn taking the reins. CINTURATO scratched from midweek where the conditions suited and now has to cop a drying track, he’s ready to win again, needs the rain. WOLFESS is a handy mare in the Eurell stable and shown she can sprint well fresh, lands a good spot midfield but may need more speed on.
