Glenn Ingram’s Saturday Flemington Preview Posted on March 5, 2026March 5, 2026 | Posted by Glenn Ingram RACE 1 VANGOGH BANKCHEQUE has been thrown in a hot race first-up and easy to see why watching his jumpouts. Competitive in a strong race here before a break, he has straight track experience and should be close enough to strike in a field of 8 on an expected even speed. LEGACY BOUND is capable, jumpouts hard to gauge, was in need the run first-up last campaign and defied a drift to win. BURMA STAR blinkers back on, best form is on rain-affected tracks but recent Flemington jumpout was encouraging for this drop in class. SHINING SMILE is a good straight track horse, gelded, may find these too hot. Selections: 7,1,3,2 Suggested Bet: VANGOGH BANKCHEQUE win RACE 2 Two key chances. SHE’S AN ARTIST first-up run was impressive despite the narrow margin, slow to jump on an on-speed day she looped the field to win. Kept fresh for this is a positive as is drawing wide as she’s looked her best when getting to the outside of horses with a tendency to lay in. Wary of the NSW visitor HEZDARNHOTTOO, astute stable and know which horses to bring down and target the straight races. He’s a key speed inlfuence alongside NERVOUS WITNESS a fast horse with one speed, can knock up late. VERDOUX was super first-up, this is harder. Selections: 3,8,9,6 Suggested Bet: SHE’S AN ARTIST win RACE 3 Even race for the Two-Year-Olds. MEDICINAL improved between two starts settling closer to the speed to win at Ballarat, similar tactics will take her a long way in this field. Godolphin’s other runner SANCTUARY has been well-educated at the Cranbourne jumpouts for Ciaron Maher, she can go forward to apply some pressure early. JADZIA is a big watch, the speedy filly suffered a setback prior to debuting recently, given a freshen up and a jumpout, she could win without surprising. Wide open race behind these. Selections: 2,10,8,3 Suggested Bet: Exotics RACE 4 Moderate tempo. HERE TO SHOCK is worth forgiving after he went too quick in front in the Group 1 BCD sprint, he can set a controlled gallop with only SCHEELITE to pester, with a soft lead he is hardest to beat. ON DISPLAY was impressive first-up last campaign and appears to have returned in a similar vein at the jumpouts, if they go quicker up front her chances increase. CAFE MILLENIUM can settle a pair or two closer than he did winning a listed race here last time and maps favourably. PERSIAN SPIRIT and others are all reliant on more speed than what is forecast. Selections: 1,4,2,3 Suggested Bet: HERE TO SHOCK win RACE 5 SASS APPEAL is very progressive and finds another race within her scope, terms to suit in each of her past two wins at 1400m, she has gate speed to overcome a wide draw and the mile should pose no issue. SALTY PEARL has class but a sticky draw and may need luck unless the speed to overdo it up front. AFTER SUMMER has returned in good order at the jumpouts and can sprint well fresh at the mile, she can take a handy position too. NARAGHI is aggressively-placed in this, on the improve and a blowout chance. Selections: 2,1,3,9 Suggested Bet: SASS APPEAL win RACE 6 Team Hayes has a strong team engaged. REGAL AMBITION was heavily-backed at Ballarat and found himself too far back making enormous ground in the straight, unlucky not to win. The 1400m at HQ is perfect, will have to produce another big finish from the draw. ZAMBALES comes through the right races and maps perfectly for the 1400m. Possibly looking for further again. HYDROBOMB was brave in defeat at Sandown on debut, took market support and looked under pressure before responding in good signs for this rise in distance. REFUSE TO CURTSY can improve after impressive jumpouts. Selections: 12,1,4,11 Suggested Bet: Exotics RACE 7 PRIDE OF JENNI’S recent jumpout was not to her usual high standard but it was on wet ground if willing to look past, she maps for sole control of the speed and is dangerous when left alone. TOM KITTEN is looking to go back-to-back in this race and the market found him in a fast win at Caulfield first-up, sure to be improved and recent jumpout encouraging albeit no pressure. TREASURETHEMONENT kicked for home and fell in a hole late first-up at Caulfield, arguably better ridden with something to chase and gets that here. LEICA LUCY can reel off fast closing splits off a good speed and will be charging late. Selections: 8,1,10,11 Suggested Bet: Exotics RACE 8 Typically even mares race. SEA WHAT I SEE was excellent first-up chasing a fast tempo in the Tressaday Stakes and is suited going to the mile where she will be close enough if good enough. Danny O’Brien’s stable is running hot. PHILIA is likely leader and has been back to the jumpouts between runs, fitness will be no issue and is unbeaten from two attempts at the mile. AHHA AHHA maps well in behind, she’s on a 7 day back-up and always thereabouts. DAMASK ROSE will drop out, she’s in good form, needs a win. Selections: 8,3,11,5 Suggested Bet: SEA WHAT I SEE win RACE 9 TENTYRIS is a straight track specialist and was ultra-impressive winning the Lightning first-up. If there’s a knock, the pace expected may not bring him home in the same manner at 1200m. CABALLUS holds the key to the race in terms of speed. MY GLADIOLA gets weight off TENTYRIS and can sprint quickly off a moderate tempo; she too saves her best for straight line racing. WAR MACHINE was impressive winning the Gilgai Stakes, he needs to win the punters back after his last start Pakenham performance, with excuses, latest jumpout was just fair. ANGEL CAPITAL is capable if his head is in the game. Selections: 2,13,6,4 Suggested Bet: TENTYRIS win RACE 10 Tough finish. A good race for WHISKY ON THE HILL to be winning second-up rising in trip after a big fresh performance at the mile, he’s been given a soft jumpout between runs to sharpen him up, he will need luck from the low draw. MAGNASPIN is racing out of his grade, if TARVUE doesn’t accept he may just get a soft lead to win again. AUGUSTUS the European import has done plenty of work at the jumpouts to resume at 2000m, hard to line up, need a market push to get involved. Selections: 2,3,1,10 Suggested Bet: Exotics Market Market
