Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on January 15, 2026January 16, 2026 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 SWEET COCO (9) did things wrong again last week and put up an enormous performance to finish 4th. If you’ve backed her every start you’ve probably had enough and will be looking elsewhere but she is the one to beat. There was a concern HUNGER STRIKE (5) would be crossed from pole last start and when that eventuated, those who took the $1.45would have been comatose but her form is solid and she should be in the finish. ALTA ALLURE (8) was a very impressive winner here last week and is ready for the slight rise in class. SUGAR DELIGHT (7) had no luck last week but must be considered on her previous two runs this time in. Tips: 9 5 8 7 Suggested Bet: SWEET COCO (9) to win. Race 2 HUGOTASTIC (9) was well-fancied first-up but looked a bit dour when 3rd to My Watchlist. The effort still had plenty of merit and he should be able to overcome the wide barrier against this line-up if he is to be a Nullarbor player. LINCOLN RIVER (4) has impressed in his two starts in WA and looks a danger but does go up a long way in class. ARMA BELIEVER (7) probably did too much early last week but can play a part here. MADAM PUBLISHER (8) needs some luck from out here but is capable. Tips: 9 4 7 8 Suggested Bet: HUGOTASTIC (9) to win. Race 3 SEBASTIAN JAMES (1) is racing extremely well and has held up from the pole in the past so is clearly the one to beat. GAITCRASHER (4) couldn’t get into the race last week but closed off nicely to finish 3rd in quick time and should be in the finish. SOHO VESPER LIND (2) is a consistent placegetter and maps to get a nice run behind the favourite. SPYGLASS (8) can mix his form but he is the other class runner of the field and could make his presence felt. Tips: 1 4 2 8 Suggested Bet: SEBASTIAN JAMES (1) to win. Race 4 NATHAN STREET (3) has now been beaten the last five times he has started favourite and will head the market again. This looks a perfect race for him but punters will be reaching for their money with burnt fingers. QUINTON (6) is racing consistently but just needs a bit of luck to get the right run. CHIVALRY (8) is a strong type who will be hoping for a quick first quarter and can then be put into the race. THE WILDCARD (7) is a quick beginner and he would be hard to catch if he crossed at the start. Tips: 3 6 8 7 Suggested Bet: NATHAN STREET (3) to win. Race 5 MY WATCHLIST (10) is now a 7YO but he has obviously overcome the issues that plagued him in recent campaigns and is flying. He has won all four starts this time in and will be hard to hold out here if he sees daylight sat the right time from his awkward barrier. WONDERFUL TO FLY (1) resumes tonight and she beat a weak field in a recent trial with her back straight quarter a lot more impressive than her final split. I’m thinking this will mean she is better suited racing with a sit tonight which could give HOTLY PURSUED (4) a big chance to shoot for an all the way victory. BETTER ECLIPSE (9) is racing well but has a tough draw to overcome. WONDERFUL TO FLY (9) is dangerous off a soft run but has opened up too short in early markets. Tips: 10 4 9 1 Suggested Bet: MY WATCHLIST (10) to win. Race 6 GRUMPEE (3) rises in class for his biggest test but he is a quick beginner and should find the front and be very hard to catch over the sprint trip. MAJESTIC GA GA (9) is a model of consistency and the obvious danger but the draw and distance are both against her. QUIGLEY (4) is capable but he doesn’t have gate speed and would be better suited over a longer trip. YANKEE LOVER (10), PATCHED (11) and LUVAFLAIR (12) are all capable but there finishing positions could depend on how far back they settle from their back line draws. Tips: 3 9 4 11 Suggested Bet: GRUMPEE (3) to win. Race 7 OH MIKI (6) was slightly disappointing last start but drops in class tonight and he looks hard to beat on his previous form. LEAVEMEAMESSAGE (1) has finished at the rear at his two starts in WA but he has started from bad draws on both occasions and could be a sharp improver from the pole. CHACO EAGLE (10) will be hoping the polemarker performs well for at the least the first mile to give him a winning chance. CULLEN STAR (3) has won two of his last four starts and should be thereabouts. Tips: 6 1 10 3 Suggested Bet: OH MIKI (6) to win. Race 8 LORD TITANIUM (8) has been battling bad barriers lately but is racing well. He was held up at a crucial stage but charged home to finish a close-up 3rd here last week and he will be hard to hold out here if there is a solid tempo. HI SUGA RUSH (9) has either led and been disappointing or had no luck recently so it is hard to line him up. He looked to go to the line bolting here last week so follow any market move. WICKED HUSTELR (6) won from the breeze in 1.57.5 over this distance two starts back and a similar performance will see him in the finish. ALWAYSBFRANC (2) would give a great sight if he could find the front. Tips: 8 9 6 2 Suggested Bet: LORD TITANIUM (8) each way. Race 9 MAUNGATAHI (9) is the class runner of the field and has been racing extremely well in stronger company. The two queries are it is his first go from the tapes and he is better suited driven cold but his class can get him through tonight. ECLIPSE LINE (2) won three on end before having to work too hard in the final lap at his last start and he will give a great sight if he can bounce to the front. OUR VINNIE (5) led throughout in a similar event four starts back and would be hard to catch if can work his way to the top. FEELING ACES (1) has finished 2nd off soft runs at his last two starts and can be in the money again. Tips: 9 2 5 1 Suggested Bet: MAUNGATAHI (9) to win. Race 10 Call this tip an educated guess at best. HEAVY METAL HAMMER (8) was very plain in his two starts in WA and was sent for as short break. He hasn’t been seen since and I’m presuming he’s got a more ability than he showed last time in and doesn’t need much to win this very weak affair. PENTHOUSE (1) was a nice first-up 2nd for the new stable before being terrible on Tuesday. Short back-up so plenty of queries but does have the pole draw. BLUE BLAZER (9) and THE RIGHTEOUS (11) ran 1st and 3rd at Narrogin on Tuesday and are definite winning chances but they ran home in 61.3 in that event which is concerning. Tips: 8 1 9 11 Suggested Bet: HEAVY METAL HAMMER (8) to win. Market Market
