Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on December 19, 2024December 19, 2024 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 THENU CAME ALONG (8) was placed in the WA Derby and hasn’t had a lot of luck at his last three starts but is maintaining his form. He is drawn poorly here but will be charging home if he can get the right cart into the race. THELITTLE MASTER (4) was only plain at his first three runs back from a spell but looked sharp when winning here last week and must be considered despite the rise in class. JIMMY ROCKS (3) is the best drawn of the main chances and will be hard to catch if he can find the front. KABOCHON (7) has won three on end in easier company and this isn’t beyond him. There are plenty of other chances in a wide-open affair. Tips: 8 4 3 7 Suggested Bet: THENU CAME ALONG (8) each way. Race 2 STREET HAWK (1) followed a couple of below par performances with a strong 3rd from barrier nine here last week and he is clearly the one to beat if he can hold up from the pole. IMA FIVESTAR GENERAL (2) is drawn to be prominent throughout and looks an obvious danger. SHOWPONY (5) had been building up to his best form and displayed that when a strong winner here last week and should go on with it but he does rise in class. OTIS (6) is racing well but will have to do all the work again and would be better suited over a longer. Tips: 1 2 5 6 Suggested Bet: STREET HAWK (1) to win. Race 3 LAVRA JOE (5) hasn’t been at his best this time in but he drawn inside his main rival here and appeals as the one to beat if he can maintain that advantage in the early stages. JUMPINGJACKMAC (8) is racing extremely well and is the obvious danger. TO FAST TO SERIOUS (3) is drawn to be the blowout chance if the two favourites have tougher runs than expected. GALACTIC STAR (6) continues to defy his age and can be placed at odds. Tips: 5 8 3 6 Suggested Bet: LAVRA JOE (5) to win. Race 4 VENTURA (8) has been impressive in his four WA starts and has the strength and versatility to overcome his wide draw. GOLDEN LODE (3) is the only three-year old in the event but he defeated the older horses at his last start and must be considered again. SKYLORD (7) was the unlucky runner in the Golden Nugget and he might be forgotten and run at silly odds tonight. ROCKANDROLLARTIST (6) crossed and led throughout from a similar draw at his last start and will give some cheek at odds if he finds the pegs quickly. Tips: 8 3 7 6 Suggested Bet: VENTURA (8) to win. Race 5 STENO (8) is a brilliant beginner who won the Norms Daughter in 1.54.7 before running 3rd to Aardiebytheseaside in the Mares Classic when she couldn’t find the front. She looks the likely leader despite the wide draw and is clearly the one to beat. PENNY BLACK (11) is a tough filly who is capable of pressuring the favourite and still fighting out the finish. PEACEFUL (3) may get the opportunity to have a softer run tonight and will be suited if there is a solid tempo. ACHARNE GIRL (2) was a solid 3rd at her first run back from a spell and is drawn to be prominent throughout. Tips: 8 11 3 2 Suggested Bet: STENO (8) to win. Race 6 WHATARETHEODDS (1) was a certainty beaten at his last start and he will be hard to beat if he can hold up at the start but he weas crossed from this barrier first-up. TUALOU (5) is a three-year old taking on older horses but he is racing extremely well and should fight out the finish. MANDOWN (3) was well-backed first-up when he was severely checked so he must be respected again. HALE SAINT LOUIE (2) won’t know himself from an inside draw and can be a sharp improver. Tips: 1 5 3 2 Suggested Bet: WHATARETHEODDS (1) to win. Race 7 SOHO FIRESTONE (11) has finished towards the rear in his last five starts but he drops significantly in class and should give a great sight. PAUL EDWARD (6) is another who will be better suited in this company and can make his presence felt. REGAL CHEVAL (8) may use his early speed tonight and he will give them something to catch if he can cross at the start. FLYING RUMOUR (10) is awkwardly drawn but will be charging home if he sees daylight at the right time. Tips: 11 6 8 10 Suggested Bet: SOHO FIRESTONE (11) to win. Race 8 MAJOR OVERS (2) is racing consistently but hasn’t had a lot of luck in his races. He is a fast beginner who will extremely hard to beat if he finds the top but can still be competitive if things don’t go his way in the early stages. HENGHENG (1) will be doing his best to hold up at the start and looks the obvious danger. MAJOR FREEWAY (4) is right up to the favoured pair but looks likely to be the one who has to work in this event. BALINGUP BOY (3) is always dangerous if he gets the right trip. Tips: 2 1 4 3 Suggested Bet: MAJOR OVERS (2) to win. Race 9 GOODFELLAZ (3) was crossed as a short-priced favourite here last week but was still too good for his opposition and should be hard to beat again despite the rise in class. LUSAKA (7) isn’t suited by the sprint trip but he has been placed behind Mister Smartee at his last two starts and will be charging home again. BLITZEMBYE (4) will be fitter at his third run back from a spell and this looks a suitable assignment. JASPERVELLABEACH (1) is suited from the pole over the sprint trip and can be placed. Tips: 3 7 4 1 Suggested Bet: GOODFELLAZ (3) to win. Race 10 HOLD THAT GOLD (5) has won ten of his 15 starts this time including his last four against similar line-ups and is clearly the one to beat but won’t get it all his own way. NICKYS SON (4) held out HOLD THAT GOLD (5) from identical barriers at their last meeting when 2nd to that trotter and should fight out the finish again. PATCHED (7) flashed home when 3rd to the that pair and can get over the top of them if there is a solid tempo. SUNNYS LITTLE ROSE (3) is racing well and is ready for the rise in class. Tips: 5 4 7 3 Suggested Bet: HOLD THAT GOLD (5) to win. Market Market
